A few years ago, McGavock had this type of lineup. They were very fun to watch and they actually got great rebounding from those guards. They went to 2 substates in a row. Hunters Lane has a good shot of at least making it that far, but there are just so many good teams this year.
Haynes is an "option" school. They don't really feed into a particular high school, but I would think that the students would be "zoned" to those two high schools.
The top 3 teams on the other side match up well against Head and Mlk. Jere Baxter will be there. Haynes\Goodletsville\GraMar\EastLit will fight for the other spot.
JFK. John Early, and Croft are challengers in the West. MLK and Head on the other side. Jere Baxter and Haynes in East. East Lit on other side. I've seen Baxter, everybody's chasing this team, but they can be beat.
I was at the "showdown", also. What I saw Friday night was a state championship team in Siegel. Please tell me that Jimmy Oden has signed a D1 scholarship. Nobody was hungrier than him on the court. He willed his team to victory. I feel that Whites Creek could play a little better defense. Also, Oden took Harper from Creek completely out of his game when he stole the ball from him. I was told that the sophomore "Cutter" from Siegel was overrated. Not true. This is the second time that I have seen him play an excellent game. No fear in that kid. He does whatever he needs to do to help get the win. Whites Creek can make it state, but the region tournament is going to be tough. These teams in 12AAA are getting better.
Don't know who will win this one. These are two very different teams. Antioch needs to protect the basketball. Hunters Lane needs to be able to rebound. Should be a good one to watch, could go either way.

My friends, the talent level will return next year, especially at Maplewood. Jere Baxter feeds into the high school. These guys are really good with two post players, who are already dunking. A point guard ahead of his time and rich with skills. They are undefeated and shouldn't lose. Also, JFK will be sending Antioch some really good players.
I was impressed with Antioch. Things should turn around right away. Look for them to contend for district title. I also think Hunters Lane will give some teams fits with the quick, pressing defense. They will force a lot of turnovers. This district is shaping up to be tough, again.
I watched Whites Creek for the first time on Friday. I was impressed. The running back never thinks he's going down. The return game is amazing. They have the best athletes I have seen this season. Hillsboro always finds a way to win these games, though. Should be a great game to watch.
Don't forget that this a very tough district. It's a shame that you don't get any advantage for being regular season champ. Let's hope they can win in the postseason, so they can get to state.
Holding kids back a year for athletic reasons happens every year. No one wants to admit why they held their kid back. 9 times out of 10, the really big, fast, kid on the field or court, you guessed it, is a year behind.
[Who is going to make it happen? After nationals, every should sit down. Somebody's got to make the phone calls. Too many talented kids for just a few to go to school after graduation.
The Memphis sub-state was last weekend, so 2 teams qualified there. I would guess the Tigers stayed home and qualified in that one. Flames and Elite to Clarksville. Nets A & B, one to Clarks..., one to Lynchburg. Magic will stay at home. Too many teams in 13. Mottep was a good team, but they have broken up. Their best player is now with the Elite. I think the Elite will "be" suprised. It won't be an easy run.
