  1. All I can say is no one had to motivate me to do anything. If I wanted it bad enough I would bust my tail achieving it. I would rally my team mates too. Of course I'm the type if you tell me I can't do it, I would kill myself trying. I would like to discuss this with you sometime if you would like to. But it is your call. Meanwhile, let's all rally around these kids, 3-7 or 10-0 they deserve our support.
  2. I like you would love to see Waverly have the program that Camden does for example. And one would think that victories at the junior high level and Chargers, Waverly Jr. Pro. would relate to high school. When I was in the 8th grade at Waverly Junior High, we won the State Championship. ONly 8 pts scored total in all the games. Not an average, that was a total. So you would think by my senior year we would be awesome. We went 6-4 and almost lost to McEwen (score 6-0). Was it the coaches fault? Well, head coach was RAy Hampton with Tommy Corbitt coaching the defense and we know their fine reputation. Unfortunately these don't give us a predictor. In Jr. Pro especially you have 12 yr olds against 10 yr olds for example. Sure they can run over them. There is a huge difference. Some kids grow faster than others, it usually evens out in high school or others pass them. Also, when some of these kids get in high school they lose interest, find girls more interesting, don't develop like other kids, begin to drive, find a thing called alchohol or drugs, etc. Now I'm not saying that all do this but there have been some good athletes that I could if I wanted to name, that are one of all these examples. I don't know where to turn things around, but a lot of the kids aren't into football like they need to be if they want a successful program. It takes their commitment. I've talked to several administrators and coaches in Camden and their kids are in the weight room basically year round, not because the coaches make them, because they want to get better. OUr kids need to develop that drive and want it. Second, would I change the offense in mid season. Probably not, but I'm not a football coach either. I talked with Coach Graves and some of the other coaches and they were trying to find a spark to help the Tigers. It was a risk. But sometimes you have to take risks. We needed to do something. They didn't change totally, as if you were there at game, you noticed they ran the old offense too. They were trying to catch the SC team off guard. If you listen to any of the postgame shows we do, you will hear me interview Coach Graves each week. And you will hear him say, it begins with us coaches, we always need to do better to help the kids. He has never thrown any kid under the bus. I know for a fact he cares not only about winning football games, but he cares about those kids. Is he Nick Saban? No. But we ain't Alabama either. Third, as far as the referees, if you were there you would have seen the way the game unfolded. I expect the best out of anyone no matter what they do. Those officials are paid to do their best and they didn't. And when they don't they risk kids getting hurt and keeping the kids from having a chance for victory. Did it keep the Tigers from winning. We'll never know, but I think it definitely affected the outcome. Sometimes you have to overcome inadequacies in order to win. We didn't. Yes, I get really emotional especially when it comes to people who treat kids or the elderly wrong. It gets my blood boiling. Football as with anything is about living right in life. I hope this helps. I don't think most of us in Waverly have that much of a different opinion. Would I love to see WCHS undefeated. You bet. But I don't think we would be undefeated if we had Coach Ward of Camden coaching us either. It begins at home. If you sow discord and discontent about the coaches, teachers, etc. in front of your child at home, it affects the way he or she feels about the them and the team. We all should stay positive and want the best for these kids.
  3. First of all, you show your intelligence by the fines thing. They can't do that, it is a broadcast and opinions are given. Second, you are the one who trashes the football coaching staff at Waverly. A very good coaching staff might I add. Coach Graves and his staff are very good at what they do. And for all of you who don't want to listen, don't listen. I know there are plenty who want to. In fact two years ago I gave it up until I was begged to come back by a large majority of fans and by Coach Graves himself. So please you and this fake ccubs8 go cry somewhere else. I know for a fact he isn't from Cheatham Co. What you guys are trying to do is tear down a program.
  4. Actually howdoitknow2, I think it will come down to the announcers for both teams. It will be a battle. lol
  5. If you can't make the game tonight you can listen to it on the internet. wqmv1060.com. Live. That's a q not g wqmv1060.com. Papatiger is heading that way.
  6. swingjuice, we all have google too. Just thought you might want to know.
  7. I heard this is SC homecoming. Is that true?
  8. this is for the Milan troll. Camden has a very potent offense that is better than any I've seen in a long while. You might slow them down but you won't stop them. The only way I see in beating Camden is to get into a shoot out. Their pass defense is suspect. But don't expect to stop their offense cold. Good luck Camden, I don't see this game Friday close either. Good luck to Cheatham to for I have a lot of friends over there.
  9. I really don't see your analogies lining up. Central is a very improved team. I haven't seen them play but know they are pretty good this year. SC beat Creek Wood by 3 with CW's qb and rb out. Waverly lost to CW with their full compliment of players by 5 early in the year with Waverly misfiring twice in the endzone on the last two plays of the game. This game will be close. Don't forget, papatiger is coming to town. See you there.
  10. This will be an extremely close game perhaps who has the ball last. Anyway, looking for a good time at Dover Friday night. Papatiger is on the way. Howdoitknow2, I'll take water.
  11. I was impressed with Easley also. Did a great job reading the defense and faking out.
  12. No I agree, Hale has kept us in a lot of games this year with his ability to escape the pressure. Waverly's line is very young, one senior the rest is sophomores and freshmen. Good luck to the Lions the rest of the year. I think Waverly can win out if they play ball.
  13. Good game to the Camden Lions. You guys have a really good team. Your offense is one of the best I've seen in a while. Having said that though, if you are going to make it very far in playoffs, you're going to have to do something about the pass defense. Waverly misfired on several balls that would have made this game a lot more interesting. Grant it, the defense put some pressure on the qb but there will be teams in the future who will be as big and strong and if they have a passing game, it will spell trouble unless you shore up that defense. Anyway, I know I'll catch grief from this but just pointing out the obvious. We couldn't have beaten you tonight unless we had a perfect performance and you guys will make it a long ways. But make the district proud by shoring up that defense and win it all. Good luck the rest of the way. By the way, you are by far the best team we've seen all year. No one even close.
  14. If Waverly plays like they have the last three games, especially the last two games where Waverly fans are wondering, who has kidnapped our team, it may be 49-0 in the first quarter. If they play like they did in the first three games it should be competitive. Camden is the cream of the crop in the District but like my saying, especially in a rival game, anyone can beat anyone on any given night.
  15. Mercy will be in place here but unfortunately for Houston County the mercy rule does not take effect until the second half. Rules state down by 35 after the first half clock will run constantly except for time outs and change of possessions.
  16. Scrimmages mean NOTHING. That's where coaches try a lot of different players. This game is over. Let's all move on.
  17. Now who's stretching the truth????? Riverside and Waverly played their starters until the end. Waverly coaches talked about that after the game on the radio show. So don't come saying crazy stuff like that.
  18. If you call calling the dogs off by playing the starters the whole game and actually trying to score with 59 seconds left, then so be it. Waverly made the adjustments at the half and dominated most of the second half with Riverside playing to win until the final horn with their starters.
  19. Not a sore loser. Waverly lost plain and simple. It is the circumstances of the loss that bothers me. Good luck to Riverside the rest of the year but I don't expect them to get close to the gold ball
  20. Waverly lost, yes no doubt. you never answered, Where you there? If not you don't know the circumstances. Just like the score of the UT game last week was not indicative of how close that game was last week.
  21. Yes, Waverly had two lineman who did NOT play last night. Coble was out with a MCL sprain and Cunningham was out with an infected knee. Coble is the center and Cunningham the guard. Where you at the game?
  22. Not saying we wouldn't have lost but it had a huge impact on the game. Waverly has a good team not state champion material, but better than Riverside. You take two main lineman including the center out and it affects blocking when you plug two young guys in with a lot less size. The interference call gives Waverly the ball deep in Riverside territory and trailing 12-0. Could have changed momentum. Not going into other calls, look on my other posts. Riverside played a lot better than Waverly in first half, Waverly played a lot better in second half. Before you say anything, starters for both teams played the whole game.
  23. I agree the Hickman County game was terrible for Waverly even though they won. Kind of like the game last night, Waverly shouldn't have won against HC but not sure against Riverside. Yes the cheerleaders could beat Houston County but the Creek Wood loss. Look at the Creek Wood posts. That is the only game they had all of their main players and Waverly still almost won. Against Fairview the qb got hurt on first play, their rb and wr was out. Waverly isn't state champion material but I haven't seen anyone we've played yet close either.
  24. Sorry that you see it that way. Didn't say your guys was lucky but the fact that there were extinuating circumstances other than talent that made the score that way. I did say Waverly wasn't very focused. But one can't argue the referees. Photographer on sideline was asked to leave field on the movement of football when he stated he had a picture of where the ball should have been, one yard back not forward. Also didn't mention that with the score 35-12 and 9:25 and Riverside on their heels from a second recovered onside kick that the clock kept running and taking 25 seconds off clock on change of possessions. Wouldn't have mattered but could have. Yes I said a little above average. These two teams could play 10 times and Waverly would win 8 of them. You will see that Riverside won't make a dent in the playoffs.
