  1. How could I call you if I don't even have your number? Nope, not a coach, but I do play one on TV (if that's what in fact you are implying) - I'm a wordsmith, though not an historian as Lost Old Dad proved one evening.
  2. olandpats, were you good enough to get a call? and Blazer14, what happened with the BGA thing? Did they give you a call?
  3. And I know an E.B. and an E.L. who could really stomp a T.W.
  4. He probably knows these too: J.H. M.C. T.W.
  5. hahaha, and some old Oakland players...
  6. Fulfilled? Man, I hope there's more to life than just that!
  7. As for picks: 1) Smyrna 2) Wilson Central 3) Lebanon 4) Whoever's gonna play Cookeville in the first round of the playoffs 5) Lavergne 6) TIE - Oakland, Blackman, Siegel (HEIL!) 7) Riverdale - this is the year to GET EM!
  8. mynameis, where did you "hear" this information regarding Daryl Smith? And to OaklandGrad, (is that in Russia?) don't ya think the Riverdale A.D. will check the eligibility?
  9. MBA's '00 team would have KILLED, repeat KILLED Riverdale that season. And from what I heard, they did just that in a scrimmage. NOW - '00 MBA vs. '01 Riverdale - that would've been a good ball game.
  10. Yeah, chickened out. Next night it was 45-6. bok, bok, bok. Seriously, I heard Rankin practiced his boys that next Saturday - ALL DAY. He knew that practicing that day of the game would make his team 40 points better.
  11. Moose is too busy with computers and photography.
  12. If you allow girls to play football, you gotta allow boys to play volleyball, right? Haven't the two offset one another to comply with Title IX?
  13. Thanks Lost Old Dad for the correction! I thought I might have that wrong. I just recently had a WWII veteran tell me he never saw a John Wayne movie after the war for that reason.
  14. John Wayne - turned down opportunity to go to WWII. But he could sure blow up some Indians real good on the big screen! Jimmy Stewart - now there's a hero - flew B-25 Marauders in the Big One. My favorite actor.
  15. Alright, I'm gonna print this one more time - for the record - I've never said that Oakland recruits (if so they need to replace their recruiting coordinator). All I've mentioned are that zone exemptions and transfers work both ways. To read all the postings on these boards, a stranger would think that Riverdale is the only school to which people transfer or for which they get an exemption. All's I'ma trying to says is dat road has oncoming traffic. Works both ways. Zone exemptions and transfers. Both ways. Zone exemptions and tranfers. Both ways. See the word "recruiting" in there? And if that's attacking, insulting, trashing, slashing, desecrating, offending, assailing, assaulting, etc., then so be it. By the way, you've done it again with names. Terms relative to offense need to be something mobile - not a fixed fortification (Ferg's Fort) - switch the two around and I think you'll have it: DEFENSE - Ferg's Fort OFFENSE - Pain Train You're not representing Oakland well vis-a-vis reading comprehension.
  16. "slash, trash, or otherwise insult"? Naw, I've never done that. If I wanted to do that, I'd just mention BROKEN ARROW. I figure there's enough Riverdale haters out there. The EVIL EMPIRE (I can hear Darth Vader's Imperial March dum-dum-dumming along now!) Just trying to maintain the balance of power on CoachT. However, the guy who uses the ID of "Riverdale" sure does a swell job.
  17. What's the scoop if Coach Walls does leave? Would they promote from within or would they call and interview a few known talents? Also, is Steve Duke still involved with athletics?
  18. stlrcoach, Who does Sam have in way of assistants at UHS?
  19. And once again, I have attacked.....who????? The only person I will "attack" is myself via self-deprecating humor. Just look at my ID! And stop looking at my posts. I get really paranoid!
  20. A stirring, almost moving defense of olandpats. However, who have I attacked? Anyway, enough of that crap. 2priceless, remember that there was a Superintendent of Schools before Hulon Watson who also liberally dished out the exemptions. Whether it's right or wrong to do so, it is the politically convenient option. Who was the Superintendent before Hulon Watson? Roy Ragsdale - former band director at OAKLAND. So once again, it all works both ways.
  21. In 7 posts when have I "trashed" your school? You're the one who seems fairly rattled, not me. Look, get this through your heads regarding zone exemptions. If Ralph King lives in OHS' zone he can play at RHS IF: He gets a zone exemption BEFORE his 9th grade season. That makes it A-OK for him to play at RHS under TSSAA rules. He continues to play there for his four years of eligibility and it's perfectly legal per TSSAA rules even if he lives in OHS' zone. Transfers, if they transfer to a school out of their zone AFTER their 9th grade season, MUST sit out a full calendar year after their last game played. This is to discourage players from jumping school to school. So you can complain about players such as Tamar Butler and Chad Hunter living wherever, but those guys, I suppose, got a zone exemption (hypothetically providing they lived out of zone in the first place) before their 9th grade years and are eleigible to play for Riverdale. But then don't ask me, I'm a moron. Oh, and olandpats, lighten up a tad. It's the "T" - a discussion board, that's all. And just WHERE are these BIG dogs?? *looking cautiously*
  22. "u should keep ur big mouth shut" "he needs to keep his big mouth shut" "fella" "good try" Tough words for someone on a computer! Anyway, to keep it civil, the Crawfords may have ended up in Oakland's zone, but before their 9th grade year, they were zoned Riverdale. And I thought your knowledge and appreciation of Oakland football would be more keen to not know Mr. Crutcher and Mr. Broughton - two starting offensive linemen on Oakland's '98 championship team - and two very good linemen I might add. Where Ralph King lived I don't know. It doesn't matter before your 9th grade year to the TSSAA. After that it matters to them. My point is that people get exemptions and people transfer - everywhere - not just to Riverdale. Maryville fans? Any of this sound familiar?
  23. Zone exemptions work both ways - not just one way: Do the names Carlos and Marease Crawford mean anything? What about Al and Anthony Mitchell? Desmond Rhodes and Daryl Smith were also supposed to go to Riverdale but either acquired a zone exemption or a transfer - I could be wrong regarding those two. Transfers work both ways too: Pedro Crutcher and Troy Broughton. Riverdale isn't the only school ever to have students get a zone exemption. Riverdale isn't the only school ever to get transfers.
  24. ALERT! My Word, 2priceless, you're wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too smart man. With such cognitive powers as that it's a shame you haven't utilized them or channeled them into more productive endeavors.
  25. ALERT! Yes, odd indeed. *Huddles close to olandpats* You think it could be the same person? I'll help you keep an eye out. *wink*
