someone doesnt know Les Trotter or Summertown basketball very wel. The whole team aint nothing but SHOOTERS.

I have seen the TP insurance work really good. IF the locals dont want to take out the insurance then the football plauyers still clean the yard, but its $10 a day. I have seen the homeowners bake cookies for the "cleaning crew", and it kinda turns into a party.

I know Cheerleaders are best fund raisers of anyone or thing I know of. And as a past booster member I still try to stay involved with the boosters in the sport that my daughter plays. So girls/(guys?) we need your help or should I say ideals in raising money.

 

What was the best fundraiser that you have been apart of that 1) raised a good amount of cash /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blush:" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> and 2) Was just plain fun to do. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":lol:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

 

No need to give any secretes away, but we do want to do something kinda different.

Here is the funnest Fund raising event I ever saw. You find a local company to donate a nice brand new recliner. THe week of homecoming you sell "chances" to sit in the recliner during school. Everyday you pick one lucky winner to be "king/queen of the day" The football players are recruited to move the recliner to the different classes and lunch. There is very minimal disruption of the day, if the recliner is put on a rolling platform, and the players are dismissed a few minutes before the bell. On friday the King of the day winner is allowd to sit at the side lines during the game is his recliner. To earn even extra oney, during the game chances are sold the the fans for a chance to WIN this recliner.

Since it is almost Holloween here is another.....TOILET PAPER INSURANCE. You allow the locals to buy TP insurance, usually this price is aound $10. If there yard is TPd/Rolled. THe football team shows up and cleans it for no charge. You would be surprised how many girls TP their own yard just to get the football players to their house. LOL

Summertown, from what I am hearing is young. They have 3 seniors, 1 junior and a handful of sophomores and freshman. They (as usual), have no height, but plenty of speed.

Coach has a winning program for several years but this year it is different. The school in question is full of great mulit-sport athletes. Our graduates have been offered to play in several colleges on athletic scholarships. SO why does the girls basketball team stink???? Because the Coach is a bully and just down right STUPID. He has run off the best female athletes in the school. If it was only 1 student I would say that the student just couldnt take it, but NO there are at least 10 girls that SHOULD be playing. Last year out top female basketball player, district MVP, REGION MP, scholarship recipent to a VERY well known college quits mid season. Why you may ask? BECAUSE THE COACH IS A JERK!!! HE uses profanity that would put a sailor to shame, he degrades them, the girls have no respect for him, and neither do the fans or parents. HE has informed the girls that what goes on in practice stays in practice. HE has instructed them to keep their mouths shut. I have personally seen the man CHAIN the gym doors shut so that no one, not even administration can enter. You can hear the yelling and the cussing from the street.HE has no idea how bad he makes the school and HIMSELF look. HE has no idea how many people dislike him. HE has no idea that there are several girls comtemplating quiting right now. And to top it all off---------------he pulls up 8th graders and benches the uperclassmen!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stupid Stupid Stupid Man.

 

I hope this paticular coach reads coachT. Because I would love to tell him that he is on the verge of losing his winnning program, as a matter of fact he may lose the program all together, if he doesnt change his ways. JUst because you have a teaching license, and happen to have a coaching job doesnt mean that you are GOD.

I think I know the coacht you are refering to and he wont have a clue that you are talking about him. He will just assume you are referring to some other BONE HEAD! And the 8TH graders arent even that good. Not any better than those he benched. The difference in the girls coach and the boys coach: RESPECT. The boys respect their coach and would jump off the school if he asked them to. THe girls FEAR their coach, and that my friend will never win a title!!

I think that CoachT's win/loss rankings are much more accurate.

WHere is district 12A playing this year?

Who are some up and coming freshmen and sophmores who are going to really shine in a couple of years.

Pretty much the only games I get to go to are 11A and 12A. I have seen a couple of freshmen players this year I think you need to make a note of:

Tyler Rice-Freshman- Wayne County-He can shoot inside and out-Tall kid with some ball handling skills-hits his 3s-not scared to drive to the basket

Bubba Clifton-Freshman-Summertown-One of the best ball handlers I've seen-shoots when he has to, but prefers to assist-Quick on the court-smart play maker

Both these players are already making contributions to their teams but given time they will shine brighter.

Summertown looked pretty sharp tonight. Played real solid and consistant all game. Marco seemed to be a little off his game tonight. What was everyone else's thoughts ?

When is Mt. Pleasant going to realize that Marco is a football player and not a basketball player? He is one heck of a player on the field but on the court he is just ok. They look for him to be the play maker and in reality their team as a whole could have pulled off the win.

If the father of this child truly means what he says and is appreciative of this post he may want to print it for future reference due to the fact that i see this post gettting locked or deleted.

you said they were about 8 deep and it sounds like they have 3 guys out with injuries....do they have a shot at this tourney playing only 5 deep?

All the injured players are playin except for the sophomore with mono and he hasnt really been able to play yet. I do think they have a legit chance in this tourney.

6th man=Junior

7th man=Freshman

8th man=unknown at this time.

oh yeah, I forgot to mention the 6th and 7th man have both scored in double digits. So by no means is their bench weak. I also heard the 7th man recently had a CT scan for head concussion.

glad your excited about culleoka...but being a fan of culleoka doesnt make our team invincible...you obviously know nothing about any teams we play except our district teams...culleoka has not played a truly good game yet this year...they played pretty well against moore co. but made alot of mistakes...just because someone says that middleton is gonna be extremely tough doesnt mean that you are the only fan...trust me big guy ive been a much more hardcore fan of culleoka than you have....if you'll look at everyone of my 3000 posts...about 98 percent of them are about culleoka and trying to convince ppl that culleoka has a good team...even before mario was here...so ease up on the superfan talk and lets get some valid points about the game

SUMMERTOWN FANS.......what are the eagles bringing to the table this week....do they still have 34 players that have halfcourt range like they used to?

Ok i am not a huge fan of Summertown basketball but I am a fan of 12A. THis is the scoop-you are not going to get many fans from there talking right now. THey are tryin to stay quiet and fly under the radar. But this is what i have seen-----They have had a few serious injuries to contend with the past month. Starting senior playing with a broken had, and i hear they have a startin junior just out of the hospital with a serious virus and dehydration, sophomore out until Jan with a re-laspe of mono. THey only lost 1 starter from last year. They dont have much size but their speed will take them far. The team is only 8 deep, but any 1 of those guys can and will score. YOu dont know who to guard because of this. THeir 3-pt shooters have increased in their accuracy. In my opinion this is the best TEAM that Trotter has had in the past few years. There is not a super-star, but 5 guys willing to pass the ball. Look for them to pass the ball, be patient and take the great shot.

hahaha...well for what its worth heres my take on the situation

 

#1 Lake Co. 6-0 this team seems to be dominating so far im interested to see how they do when district play really kicks up

 

#2 Union City 5-0 beat humboldt already in a big matchup and they havent had much trouble putting away the rest of the teams on their schedule

 

#3 Nashville Christian 8-0 dont know a whole lot about this team but at 8-0 its hard not to have them on this list

 

#4 CSAS 7-1 only loss is to tift county and they have been dominating most every other team they play...these guys look good and have the potential to go deep this year

 

#5 Manassas 9-1 these guys have played a very tough schedule so far and only lost one game by 8 points...as with lake co. im curious to see how long they can keep winning

 

#6 Culleoka 5-2 two tough losses to ravenwood and mba games that should have been won have set this team back...their shooting needs to improve before district games start on friday...however you cant count out demario and the talent that this team has

 

#7 Moore Co. 3-2 if your not from middle tn. chances are you havent heard of this team...that will change this year...tyler jean the point guard is a scoring machine...they are athletic and play well as a team...this team is almost a lock to go to state and you should keep your eye on these guys

 

#8 Humboldt 3-1 only loss is to union city...would love to rate these guys higher but they havent played alot of games and i dont know enough about them this year

 

#9 East Robertson 3-1 only loss this team has suffered came at the hands of station camp...these guys have got or been close to state the last few years and so far they look tough again this year

 

and last but not least....

 

#10 Richland 4-0 they have yet to be truly tested but this group is always looking for respect...they matchup with moore co. tonight and if they can upset moore co. that would be a big stepping stone for this team

How can you list Richland as one of the top 10 in the state?

Summertown in my opinion is a team that should make it to subsate. They are tryin their best to fly in under the radar this year, but i got a chance to watch them last Friday in Mt. PLeasant and they had 4 kids that scored in double digits. They looked good this early in the season.

Who do you think will win the game? In my opinion Mt. Plesant is hungry for a win. Last week they lost a heart breaker in McKenzie (football), and they need to jump start their basketaball with a huge win over district rival. On the other hand I hear that Summertown has had some huge wins in the past few games, but they also have had some injuries. They have a starting Senior with a broken hand and is out for a month, a sophomore just returning from 6 weeks out with mono, and a freshman that suffered a head concussion the other day.

There are also different types of good. There are good ball-handlers, good rebounders, good shooters etc. IT is hard to define the BEST ball player becase there are so many different aspects. Someone might be the best ball handler you have ever seen but couldnt hit a lay up if the court was empty. Or the other way around. I have seen someone hit 39 3-point shots in a row but couldnt dribble to save their life.

I hear that Marco is still playing. Also, Summertown will go 8 deep without dropoff. Although Clifton is a freshman, they have high hopes for him this year. Most coaches shorten up the bench is crunch time anyway, so they will be deep enough.

Bench scored 30 last night against Loretto. They may not be deep but they can score.

How do you all think that Loretto will come out in the District this year?

 

I believe that if they get things together early and gel as a team then they will have a good shot at a very successful season. If their four returning starters from last year will get together early they could set the tone for the rest of the season.

If this game was suppose to set the mark for Loretto Basketball this season...............ITs going to be a LONG season.

Okay, I didn't think he did, but that is always a possibility. Who is Loretto playing Tuesday? Besides Clint who is going to generate some offense on that team?

Seriously, the next 3 weeks will tell the story, with Sante Fe, Summertown, Wayne Co and Perry Co all on their schedule. If Zion can make it through those teams they can make a run at state.

I've seen every team in the district play either during summer camp or in the recent play days. Summertown has to be the clear favorite. I also feel that they are way underrated as far as getting to the state tournament. This could be as good of a team as Coach Trotter has had. Mount Pleasant and Collinwood will fight it out for the second spot. After that, there is a major dropoff.

From what i hear Summertown doesnt have the depth on the bench that they have had in past years. The team only has a couple of seniors, probally 4 juniors, and only 1 sophomore. Thats only 2 on the bench. Is that enough to make a run for state?

i like it. It beats those where :who is the best, who is the worst, etc.
