  1. Nobody that I asked sees any favoritism. The coach has started 10 different players, had at least 5 different starting line-ups just in the last month, and everybody including his freshman have been getting minutes in the varsity games. It looks like he is just trying different combinations. Coach Seals has been coaching for 30 years; from what I??™ve heard he isn??™t is going to let anybody (especially parents) ???dictate??? to him how much playing time each of his players should be getting. For the games that I have seen, there have only been three players that have started almost every game and they are consistent players that have probably earned their minutes in the eyes of the Coach. But even those three are substituted out several times per game. Not sure why you are so upset about who is playing unless you have a daughter who is not getting enough minutes, but if you don??™t like how the coach is handling playing time, take it up with him rather than stirring the pot here. Accusations in an on-line forum serve no purpose but to create resentment within the team.
  2. QUOTE(Golden_Eagle @ Feb 16 2007 - 12:45 PM) "So because we didnt score 100 we played bad? we still won by 40, if it was 40 to 0 would we be dogged cause we opnly scored 40? They can bring 100 players they still cant hang with our jv. We had senior night and and our coach even put in the paper that tullahoma would stay with uas the first quarter cause our girls would still be emotional. TOTAL DOMINATION no matter how many horrible player tullahoma brings. END OF STORY" QUOTE(spork101 @ Feb 17 2007 - 01:00 AM) "Hmm..... thats kind of funny because if i recall correctly the tullahoma FRESHMAN did beat the shelbyville JV. And according to the scorebpard ths did infact hang with shelbyville the first quater. Tullahoma is young and in a couple of years I will find it quite hillarious when they win!" QUOTE(BBWizard @ Feb 17 2007 - 12:53 PM) "Your Jv team has no talent Tullahoma will win 5 out of 6 in the next three years mark my words. Your freshman can not play with tullahoma freshman." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Can we back down on some of the smack talk and just let the girls play ball without getting them worked up over the meaningless war of words on this site? They do read this stuff. Tullahoma and Shelbyville both have some promising young players. Last year Shelbyville Harris split their games with Tullahoma East, and this year the Tullahoma Freshman split with Shelbyville. Both teams were beat by the Fayetteville City Freshman team. Franklin County also has some sophomores and freshmen who are playing very well in high school, so there should be some great basketball for us to watch in the coming years. Let’s just sit back, enjoy the show and leave the trash talking to the WWF and the politicians
  3. Don't believe everything you hear. Shelbyville came out in the second half with a different defensive attack, played agressively, and worked their way back into the game. As for Shelbyville going down hill, we probably shouldn't write the obituary quite yet. The Harris middle school team is way down this year, but Harris has won their conference for 7 out of the 8 previous years. The sophomore and freshman class has some very strong players who are now getting playing time on the varsity squad.
  4. The sophomores are making big contributions toward improving the program. That was evident at the first two varsity games. As a group they also have a mix of size and speed. There was a comment posted earlier stating that the only way Tullahoma can win is by bringing up freshman to play varsity. That probably isn't the quick fix that some are suggesting. There are some very effective and fundamentally sound freshman players but it is very unlikely that one or two of them will come in and dramatically change the success of the team this year........it takes time to build lasting team chemistry. Those who have followed this freshman group, know that some of them did have quite a bit of success as a team in middle school, but that success came from starting young, stressing fundamentals, playing together year-round, and playing unselfishly. It truly was a team success rather than reliance upon a dominant player. The team's statistics reflected that. The sophomore and freshman classes both have good players. They have played on the same teams before and will at some point be together again, trying to improve the program.
  5. Shelbyville might have one of the strongest group of Freshman players that they have had in a while. Alex Martin, Shan Scott, and Janie Graves from Harris Middle School, and M.K. Potts from Liberty are just a few of their talented 9th graders. I don't know who else may have transfered in from other middle schools.
  6. This is a bad proposal by TSSAA. The end result will be a lot of kids who love to play tournament team sports with their friends, will decide not to play at all. The reasons for this to be a negative experience are endless including.......The hassle of finding a team that will pick your son or daughter; not knowing what teams will be a good fit for your kid's skill level; the time and expense of traveling long distances to multiple tryouts and practices; convincing local coaches who donate their time to the community to do the same for a team that may only have two local kids on it, and most importantly kids losing the great memories of time spent with best friends playing a sport that they love. I read the post which stated that this won't impact summer teams because the proposal only affects teams that play during the school year. The majority of local tournaments occur before the first week of June, so by the time you pick a team and practice for a few weeks, the number of tournament options really starts to dry up. Also, many folks like to play spring tournament ball so that they have an opportunity to take family vacations in the summer without being tied to the commitment of a ball team. If this proposal goes through it is very likely that most of the kids at our school won't play during the spring and summer. The most talented players will likely find a team; and those who have parents that have the time and resources to drive their kids long distances to practices in larger communities may continue to play, but it will tear apart bonds that were formed on a hometown field or court. I'm sure that there are those who abuse the current system, but most kids aren't out there expecting to someday play professional sports, they are having fun and learning great life lessons with their friends. Is there any way to create an on-line petition to TSSAA for those families that would be affected by this proposal to voice their opinion?
