  1. HaHa, PH, I must be taking after the "Magician"....VO is an old friend of mine and OCCHS is my old stomping grounds. Have to keep up with the Lady Rebs and the Rebels in all sports. As for my recent Volleyball exodus, I will be back in time for preseason, as I have an "Earth-Shattering" announcement concerning USJ VB and its upcoming season. No, it doesn't concern BigDaddy either /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> Getcha Popcorn Ready!!
  2. Hanging in there VO...just trying to dig up some work for my peeps so I don't have to lay anyone off. What gets me is, if it were 2 secs left in the State Championship game and the Lady Rebs were down one, I guarantee you almost 100% of the OCCHS supporters in the stands would WANT Chassidy to shoot that last shot.....she would be crucified if she didn't and they lost.
  3. People used to say the same things about Cannon Whitby.....but they sure loved it when they won the State Tourney....
  4. This has been the theme for USJ's boys HS basketball program for many years. I respect TR too, but USJ made a big mistake in not retaining Coach North. IMHO only.
  5. I am not surprised by this at all P4K. Don't let the article mislead you into believing that the current economy is to blame. They are having major internal issues, none of which are being made public, lost 2 multimillion dollar donors recently and have had several "administration" changes recently. Let's just say that there is more to this story than is being told and Volleyball, Cross Country, et al are paying for it now. It is a shame that this is happening. I have heard some HS parents with kids that are graduating HS football players say that their kids are being told to avoid committing to Lambuth football team as the whole school may be going under. I don't know this for a fact, but just hearing from prospective parents.
  6. 96.5 is carrying all the games.
  7. Another great coach that USJ let get away. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  8. BUT, this is the same message board where a poster a few weeks back stated that Page hired Smith's Mom to be a coach because they were threatening to pull her out of school to go to another school and play VB otherwise. Where were you then & what do you have to say about that?
  9. That wasn't BLATANT homecooking, it was just "Divine Intervention".... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  10. 5Sport, I wholeheartedly agree, but you know we are in the PC age where every team must have one representative on the team, so someone deserving gets stuck. Heck, Cassidy Hawkins from Lexington, didn't make All-District tourney team, but was named Regional MVP...Go Figure. And one more thing while I am ranting, what's up with Dyer Co (Region Host) not getting a small plaque for the 7A-AA All Region team selections? They have nothing to show for this selection....very cheesy & very inconsiderate. Heck, a Photo copied Certificate would have been better than nothing!!!
  11. Great post stbulldog.....my question has always been "Why does everyone always feel the need that their prayers must be spoken out loud for everyone else to hear?" I was always taught that the Good Lord was going to hear everything you said or that you thought. A silent prayer is just as good as an outspoken prayer. If everyone took a moment each day and said a silent prayer "in their own religious way", there wouldn't be a need to ban prayers from public places. JMHO....of course that and $10 might buy you a decent lunch.
  12. 22-21 USJ wins. JCS go ahead TD in last seconds of game called back on holding penalty. Congrats Bruins!
  13. Semis: Lexington 3-0 over Jackson Northside USJ 3-2 over Trinity Christian Championship: Lexington 3-0 over USJ Great job girls & good luck to both squads next week in Region 7 contests.
  14. Obviously what HUSKER says is BS..... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  15. AMEN.....Ya still gotta put it in the cup! Congrats to all of the winning teams and individuals.
  16. 28-28 with 5 minutes in the 3rd. Milan driving. Both teams have scored on every possession in 2nd half. Gilbert at 200 yds and counting. Gilbert just ran another 21 yds for the score....now 34-28 milan. Kicker missed extra point.
  17. Please elaborate what that has to do with a kid going out and playing golf every day and getting better. Last I checked, neither private, nor public schools teach golf during any of their block schedules...Show some real class and congratulate the winners without any "qualifying statements". Great job Lady Bruins and especially to Katherine Bell.....awesome play the last two days!!!
  18. Munford has a very good Offensive minded team. Setting may keep them from making any noise in the State Tourney later down the road, but I don't think there is any doubt about them going to be in Murfreesboro!! I am glad that I finally got to see who the "Flyin Hawaiian" was. She is a magnificent player with a bright future. As for the tourney, very well run, however I find it awfully suspicious that Munford, Southside and USJ were in one pool and Brighton, Trinity & Northside in the other, very lopsided. Anyways, we enjoyed the day of volleyball and actually got a little better at some things by the end of the day.....Great job Munford and congrats on the win.
  19. Couldn't be further from the truth on guaranteed spots....what I asked was, "what do you think your child would think", not what you think is an educational experience.....
  20. Westtnman, I'm hearing ya, and if you relook at some of my earlier posts, I said that this move was driven by BB & FB lack of success. That's two sports lack of success dictating what all of the other sports do even though they have success in the "multiplier age" of sports. Bump....RedUp, I haven't seen an answer on this yet.
  21. RedUp, I too am a parent paying full tuition, so I have a question for you on your last statement above.....How would your child feel knowing the school (parents) paid the way for someone to come in and take a spot he/she had worked hard for?
  22. WTB, for me at the moment Volleyball which is what my daughter plays. My son used to play baseball. The tougher the competition, the more they got better. VB has been down the last couple of years, not because of the competition though, but because of the player turnover. Very young at the moment. USJ baseball never shied away from anyone and competed with everyone. For basketball, it would be tough for USJ to compete in most districts (nothing personal) but we just don't have the personel. Football can compete, I believe, but we are in the middle of a down cycle "athletism-wise", but you have to admit that they have turned the corner and the future looks positive. It would just be tougher to compete year in-year out with our current numbers. I guess my biggest gripe is that the parents (you know....the one's that pay the bills) were not given a choice here. No vote, no say-so, no nothing........For what I pay each year, I should have a say (at the very least). As for the comment about who makes the rules, I guess I mean who garners the most support. I will say this, I can count on one hand how many times this year I have seen our current Head Master or any other high ranking administrative person at a volleyball game showing their support (ZERO if you want to know). Wonder how many football games they have been to??? Ok, I'm through blowing steam. Good luck this year in basketball!!
  23. VG, all I can say is that the decision is obviously directly related to the success of the FB & BB programs since the inception of the multiplier, which has been nil. USJ has always strived to play better competition and has won against better competition in all sports except for FB & BB since the multiplier. I don't like the move to DII, because it appears that we can't play with the multiplier. Name a sport at USJ that hasn't been successful with the multiplier other than FB & BB? Obviously, we have a few making the rules for the masses (sounds just like politics). As for your other observation, again, yes it has been down a few years in the numbers of "quality" athletes at the school, but once again only related to FB & BB (however they have a good class coming up). Baseball, soccer, softball, tennis, golf, volleyball, etc. have all been successful over the last several years. But as you and I both know, football is king; brings in the revenue; and therefore, makes the rules.....to heck with all of the other sports and athletes...... Ok, now I have a question........DII allows aid/scholarships to be given to athletes, correct? Where does that money come from? I just think a whole can of worms is getting ready to be opened, but I am not sure what it is going to involve and how the school/parents handle it.
  24. When you run your mouse over the score on the scoreboard, it shows who posted the score. CoachT will nab them if he wants too. /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />
