  1. Other than Jurrick and McMasters which sophs really have college potential in the southeastern part of the state? Chattanooga, etc.
  2. I hope you are right Culleoka Rep. Talent is there but would like to add another 1 or 2 kids perhaps to really take that next leap. We had a good run in vegas last year our only loss being to P Miller Ballers who won it. I'd like to hear from the Chattanooga/Jackson kids who are interested in playing with us.
  3. Cutter is a solid player. Speaking of Cutter and sophomores, any sophomores who are interested in playing elite level travel ball, contact us at nashvilleceltics@yahoo.com. We have players from all over so even you guys from Chattanooga or Jackson who are interested, let us know. Cutter plays on the Adidas Nashville Celtics 16U team along with class A Mr Basketball finalist DeMario Williams and several other of the best sophs in the state. Spaces are very limited for this team, only a couple remain and the season starts in a couple weeks.
  4. The Nashville Celtics, part of the Atlanta Celtics Adidas Organization, have teams from the 13U level to the 17U. For information, email us at nashvilleceltics@yahoo.com. Always include, name, position, height, class, and school.
  5. Fellas, here are DeMario's actual stats. Keep in mind these were his averages before the District Championship Final where he scored 19pts, 16 rebs, 5 steals and 4 assists. All in all pretty good stats for a point guard. I am probably his biggest fan but I think Weddle will win it. If you factor in defense to the equation, then he would have a chance b/c he can defend as well as anyone in the state at any level. Weddle will win though. Sophomore Season as of 2/24/06: 17.5 ppg 7.8 rebs 3.7 assists 4.0 stls 2.0 blks
  6. I hear the Jurrick kid is pretty good, someone give me a breakdown on him.
  7. Are any of the sophs at Pickett good looking prospects? Who are they and are they big guys or gaurds?
  8. I hear Pickett County has a good sophomore. Can someone tell me about his game. What is his name and how big is he?
  9. Email me at nashvilleceltics@yahoo.com. We are an adidas program and are affiliated with the Atlanta Celtics who you may have heard of.
  10. Heard Mario had 20, how did he play overall. Any threes tonight, he has been hitting a couple per game. He has been playing well from what I have heard. I expect him to have a breakout summer for the Nashville Celtics and make a national name for himself.
  11. That is actually the most accurate ranking of Henley I have seen. Kid plays extremely hard and boards great, but he is an undersized PF/C at 6'2. Really needs to improve his ball-handling and shooting or grow about 3 inches, which he may. Upton is good, I agree that is one of if not the best in Metro Nashville. In my opinion is he head and shoulders above of Michael Williams.
  12. Extremely tough to rank kids especially in the Class of 2008 since they are so young. Everyone will know more about them after this high school season but it is a good discussion topic. Couple thoughts on that Class. Someone mentioned Gaskins, he has to sit out until January b/c he transfered schools. He played in the scrimmages and was a major contributor for LaVergne. He is very underrated. I dont think Macadoo is a top 10 player. Yes he has size and athleticism, but he is extremely raw on offense, needs a lot of work. Does have a lot of "potential" so we will see. I'll put Gross in that same boat, good size and actually has good feet. Major problem is attitude and effort. He regressed last summer. I dont think he is top 15, but definitely could be as good as anyone if he chooses. Quinche is better tha Macadoo at this point without question. Williams had a down summer for any number of reasons but he will finish top 3 in this class ahead of Caldwell before it is all over. I think he is better now. I must be really missing the boat on Michael Williams. I have seen him countless times, he isnt top 30. Frankly, his teammate on the Thunder and the guy who gets all the minutes so far at Antioch is Kyle Upton, much more solid player. Anyway, given the time is takes to evaluate the kids, I applaude GoMab for putting forth the effort and any criticisms/disagreements shouldnt be taked too seriously. Like I said, gives people a good topic to discuss.
  13. who played well for Culleoka last night and tonight?
  14. Anybody have any results from the Culleoka's tourney. Culleoka played Fairview last night and someone else tonight? Who won and who played well.
  15. Its funny that people are now just waking up to the type of skills that Cutter has. He competed well and more than held his own all summer against the best in the country while running the point for the Nashville Celtics. He is just now getting the chance to prove it in the high school ranks. If he gets to 6 feet or above, he is really going to be unstoppable.
  16. He did play for Smyrna last year but moved into the LaVergne district. He is a solid player, can score inside and shoot the 3. He had an up and down summer but he and DeMario Williams dominated the D-1 Greyhounds last year in an event in KY. Both played for the Nashville Celtics.
  17. Class 2008 1. DeMario Williams-Culleoka 2. Tyrone Caldwell-Clarksville These two are the best two without question, the rest of them are basically a toss-up 3. Michael Macadoo-Antioch 4. Raphael Gaskins-LaVergne 5. Marcus Jefferson-LaVergne 6. Josh Henley-Hunters Lane 7. Dee Mason-Pearl Cohn 8. Rayshawn Walker-NE 9. Chandler Gross-Shelbyville
  18. Why was the game so low scoring? War Eagles generally play up tempo
  19. Those kids are from Columbia. Big Y, any truth to those rumors about kids leaving the squad? Just the word coming from some posters in Memphis. Its not inconceivable in this age of AAU for kids to up and leave. Any truth to the 14U Memphis War Eagles beating up on the 15U Angels and 15U YOMCA last weekend or the weekend before in MAYBA?
  20. I had heard he left that team. Saw him last year with them in Vegas. He seemed to have trimmed down. He has a nice soft touch but definitely needs to improve quickness and athleticism. I think as he continues to shed pounds it will come. Other news, rumor has it that the YOMCA has only 6 players now due to defections that has really hurt them. Not sure what happened to cause the break up but you can basically rule them out making a run since D. Mason, J. Jones and the two big MS kids left as I understand it. Tim Ware and Dorsey are good players but they cant carry them alone for very long.
  21. FYI--SE Elite 15U has a new name and has joined up with the powerhouse Adidas Atlanta Celtics organization. The first team is called the Nashville Celtics (Gold) and the second team is the Nashville Celtics (Green). The Gold team is playing extremely well and has really gelled since state. They beat the D-1 Greyhounds about three weeks ago 46-28 (the Greyhounds coach pulled his team from the court and left the gym with 2:30 left in the 3rd Quarter). The Greyhounds won the Kingwood Classic and the Bob Gibbons TOC this year so that was a great win. Celtics (Gold) has as much talent as anyone they will play, but chemistry was a problem early in the year since most guys hadnt played together before. However, they appear to have turned the corner and look to make a run. Key performers to watch on Nashville Celtics (Gold): Mario Williams--PG, SG ranked #3 in Tn Class 2008 Josh Henley--SF/PF ranked #6 in Tn Class 2008 Raphael Gaskins SF/PF (really moving up the Chart currently #26 in State but will be much higher by season's end, he ate up the Greyhounds from inside and out) Rashawn Walker SF/PF (new to TN and a recent pick up, this kid is the real deal and can really fly; had 25 pts in his first game with the team vs. Reebok Ga Hurricanes) Tanrance Landrum PG/SG (from AL) ranked in the top 40 nationally by Hoopscoop for class of 2008 Others (Brennan Torstick C (solid in the post), Erik Wisdom SG/SF (Great showing in Atlanta), Dee Miller SF (flies around court), Tyler Cutter (starting PG, has really improved his stock with his play against Greyhounds), Judah Akers (8th Grade, great shooter), AJ Greene (big strong C) Nashville Celtics (Green)----Oneal Braden PG, Quan Dudley PG, SG, Josh Brown SG/SF , Rob Murphy PF/C, Daniel Kelley SF, Christian Greer PF, Matt Clevenger SG (top 10 ranked 8th grader in KY) Games to watch: I would go check out the pool with the Travelers, Crusaders, and D-1 Greyhounds. Probably the toughest draw in the tourney. The Nashville Celtics (Gold) have at least one tough team in their pool, the Renegades from NJ who beat the defending National Champs (RAIDERS) in their state tourney. Obviously the Y is solid from top to bottom and should have a good run though they will have to go through P Miller Ballers in the quarters I believe. Of Note, the Nashville Celtics may be called the SE Celtics (gold) or something like that in this event b/c of the name change but that is yet to be seen. go to www.aauboysbasketball.org and look the pool schedule for 15U for times Nashville Celtics (Gold)---Pool G Nashville Celtics Green---Pool F YOMCA----Pool Q Travelers---Pool V Stallions---Pool P Memphis Warriors---Pool X I do wish all the TN teams luck. lets hope everyone represents next week!
  22. Anybody got an update? Anybody playing in Vegas at year's end, Nashville Celtics will be in the Main Event, will anyone else?
  23. Just wanted to hear about how the upper level 15U teams have been playing since state. I know a lot of guys have been in team camps during June. The SE Elite 15U team has changed its name and is now the Adidas Nashville Celtics after Wallace Prather (Atl Celtics) brought them on board before his unfortunate passing. Quick Highlights since state: beat D-1 Greyhounds 46-28 in KY couple weeks back, Greyhounds coach pulled his team off the floor and quit with 2:30 left in 3rd quarter (quarters were 6 min long for some reason) Finished 3rd in the ABC last weekend. Beat Reebok Ga Hurricanes (formerly part of Ga Stars) by 17 points in pool play. Went 5-1 over the weekend suffering its only loss to a strong Nike Inner Stength Team from Atl by 3 in the semis. Heard that the Memphis Celtics beat the Team Angels last weekend. Can anyboby tell us what happened in that game and who played well? Pools were announced for AAU Nationals. Nashville Celtics and Travelers seem to have the toughest pools. The Travelers pool is the hardest with the Maryland Crusaders and D-1 Greyhounds. Nashville Celtics have the Middle Atlantic Renegades in their pool, these guys beat the defending National Champion R.A.I.D.E.R.S. in the state.
