Summertown had 15 hits, Collinwood had 6. It was a good game to watch.

Summertown went ahead of Collinwood in 5th inning 7-6, scored 4 more in 6th, and did not even bat in last inning. Collinwood did however play a good game! Good luck to both!!!

I don't think either post of Summertown or Forrest claimed they were a state champion team. The first goal of schools is to get to the State. Once you get there your team must be good, get breaks, and have a certain amount of luck to survive. Either one of these 2 teams do have a chance to be there.

Some small schools have been beating some larger schools(Varsity players) for years in regular season and tournaments. By the way, at this play day, Summertown was without the services of 5 girls who started last year on the softball team. They were still involved in basketball. I did not mean to imply anything just answering a question that someone had asked. I hope the girl from Culleoka has a fast recovery.

Summertown defeated Shelbyville, Spring Hill, Hendersonville, Dickson County, and lost to Coffee County.

Extremely weak??? I have been involved in High School Softball for over 20 years and never has single A softball been extremely weak! True some of the privates are moving up but this still leaves several strong teams in this division that have narrowly been eliminated by these teams in years past or teams like them and are capable of competing with strong AA and AAA schools. For example Middle Tennessee Substate Single A game scores: Goodpasture- 2 Columbia Academy- 1 Davidson Academy- 5 Summertown- 4 I am using these game scores because I am from Middle Tennessee. I am sure there are also good teams remaining Single A from East and West Tennessee. Columbia Academy and Summertown will remain Single A next year and both teams are returning nearly everyone. That is not to say that they will automatically slide into the State next year because they too will be faced with tough competition in District, Region, and Substate play, if fortunate enough to make it to this level of post season play.
