I am the second baseman that got knocked out...
the whole thing started when our catcher got angry when I didn't cover on a delayed steal. He then preceded to tell us to cover the bag several different occasions as if I didn't know. As the inning ended I told him to shut up and stop trying to show me up. He said something back and then I apparently said something along the lines of "you haven't thrown out many other people all year"(I blacked out not remebering anything after the end of the inning). As I was stooping down to get into the dugout he knocked me out. Next thing I remember is someone handing me a bag of ice and asking if I was ok. I did not even see him punch me. Then after I went to get on deck one inning he acted like he was gonna hit me with a bat(heard from several teammates).
The kid was kicked of the team for anger issues this fall and 3-4 years ago was punished and thrown out of the dugout for his temper. I do not know what is wrong with him but he apologized but told a teammate he was not sorry for it. If you know me and this certain player you would know I have been nothing but nice to him, allowing him to spend the night at my house while he was having family problems. I do not know what his problem is but I do know he has lost one of his friends and supporters because of this...
I am sorry but I had to get that off my chest and this seemed like a good time.
I might not should have insulted his ability to throw people out, but if the same person had told me I cannot field a ground ball or I cannot hit I know that I would not have punched him. I am sorry if what I said was so bad but that was a dumb, immature thing to do.
hmm, a glancing punch that knocked me out and made it where I could hardly eat for the next 2 days... yeah it just glanced right of my face
