I have never seen a plaque recognizing regular season champs, I could be wrong though. All I was trying to say is that it doesn't really matter what you do in the regular season as long as you peak in the postseason and can continue onward towards state. Real champions step up when it matters and that is in the playoffs.

To help seed for the district tournament. The regular season of proffesional sports are basically meaningless and only serve to set up the postseason.

Because you can't share a district tournament championship, who wants to share...

I would consider the district tournament champion the real champion. I was really suprised Rutledge was unable to make a run to state these last few years, they always had a lot of talent.

Was the pitcher that Elizabethton threw against Pigeon Forge their number 1? Also, is this the first time in a while that Elizabethton has been in the Region Championship?

Maybe Pigeon Forge is peaking at the right time. Similar to last year and win over a team with the mascot that happens to be a Cyclone...

From what I understand, after talking to someone in the know, Pigeon Forge is the district champs but Rutledge gets to host their first game.

Touche'. The Pigeon Forge coach asked the umpires and was told that they knew of no rule prohibiting the pitcher from continuing past the ten inning mark.

I would say they are champions of getting dominated by a pitcher for ten innings and then protesting when he gets an out to make it 10 and one/third.

I think I will stick with Pigeon Forge District Champs and Rutledge gets to host a regional.
