  1. In looking at the Mustangfanpage...looks like Lipscomb has a pretty good record against teams from the East. They have an overall record of 27-12-0 over your beloved teams.
  2. I am lost. Who was her son..Chris Farley? or some kid referencing teeth chattering. What position did he play or what was his number. Don't quite understand the fuss. Perhaps I am more thick skinned...for a number of years, references were made to my sons, being linebackers, defensive back-Punter and offensive lineman. I didn't take it personal. People have called out Lipscomb players by name for years, I don't think their parents got all worked up.
  3. Looks like you were new in 2006 or did you start over? Or were you thrown off the boards?
  4. Look closer at the Threads for the amount. At SH its more of an issue that you would find at Metro Public Schools.
  5. I have also watched that game several times. Mitchell fans cried foul on one of the last plays of the game. I will remind you that your center tried to snap the ball before the play was set. Also, instead of throwing the ball away in the closing minutes of the game, your QB was scrambling around instead of trying to stop the clock. Lipscomb made the plays and the one to Rogers was the key one of the game. I would suspect the officiating crew will be coming from west tennessee.
  6. There has already been a figure noted in this thread. A calculation based on gate times the amount of homes games. Lipscomb's budget is a bit less than that and thats running all the football programs at Lipscomb. 7th and 8th grade team, The Freshman team and the JV and varsity teams. Doug Mathews (from Radio, College Coach and Sporting Goods fame told me a couple of years ago that Lipscomb spends a quarter of what most other schools spend) As per SH, they have certain unfortunate situations that is not conducive to getting all the players out for football and I'll leave it at that. I've had coaches tell me that and I have relatives who attend the school. As per Campus, I have talked with several administrators, coaches, and students who use that term, so I use it. I don't see how that word can would strike a nerve with anyone.
  7. I don't mean for these comments to sound arrogant. When I first mentioned this nearly 4 years ago, Iwas blasted with being elistist. Would your team rather play a team like Lipscomb every week or teams like Montgomery Central, Houston County? Does playing teams like Montgomery Central help your program? You've now hired a coach who was gotten your program on the right track, your athletes are competing, you have proved in a very short period of time that you are one of the elite programs of 3A and can play with the likes of a Lipscomb for an entire game. During the time of Lipscomb being a part of Region 5, Giles County, Marshall County, and Page all have hired tremendous coaches who have improved their programs significantly. I believe the staffs at Creek Wood and Cheatham County are very good staffs as well. I can't comment on the Spring Hill staff and program. They've got different issues on their campus to deal with and Montgomery Central still has a way to go. Region 5 has proven since the 2005 season that they are the most consistent region within the state on the 3A Level. In talking privately with fans from Giles County, Marshall County and yes bulldog, Page, they believe that Lipscomb was a positive model of a program, one they would like to emulate. Hope I have not offended anybody with these comments, but sometimes ill-informed posters bring out things that are only talked about in back rooms. Now on a personal note and I don't know what future scheduling holds between Lipscomb and current Region 5 members. I have enjoyed the association with the schools. I've enjoyed watching the building of the Giles County program and especially how coach O'Conner gets his team ready and the great athletes they have. On Page, They are one of the Williamson County programs that I have watched for years and believe Coach Daniels has also made improvements and getting them more competitive. A great story this year. Creek Wood, their coach gave the Region a "conference" feel with his work with the region banquet and having a great game day experience at his home field. Cheatham County...a team that has fought every year, dealing with youth and injuries but always playing til the last horn. (a place with Dacatfish, Catfish Hunter, aka Big Country can live tall) Finally to Marshall County...the team you love to hate. A place where something out of the ordinary happens. A lot of good, unusual and funny stories have come out of Lewisburg. Its been a good time.
  8. Highschoolking: I am a DL Fan. Another question for Mitchell. Who is wearing the gold shoes this season? Galilee: We look forward in having you and your boys coming up to Nashville. Since the 2002 Season we have watched your program grow with success and that is something people can be proud of. The Lipscomb program began to grow around the 1988 season. 1994 had the first State Championship and they returned to the game in 98 to lose to Milan. Ever since the 2002 season, the Mustangs goal each year was not only to win the Region but to win state Championships. You must build it and then sustain it. After this season, the sustaining will become more difficult with the move to compete with schools with far more athletes in a new district and classification. Hopefully, the lessons and methods of the past 20 years will help with the transition. We'll see you Friday night. For those interested Mitchell fans who are not as familiar with the Lipscomb program, you can check out The Mustangfanpage.
  9. We might as well cut or copy and then paste this comment in every thread when Lipscomb is playing. On the Rogers, remember both their mom and dad attended Lipscomb and played sports. In the 2006 Media Guilde had a picture of their mom in her basketball uniform. Jonathan Shaub's dad was a tremendous player at Lipscomb High back in the early 70's. A few other D1 Players include Bob Major (1973 to Murray), Kevin Doak (1974 Memphis State), Jay Williams (Tennessee 1976) And their have been others who walked on at schools like Alabama, Penn State, Tennessee, MTSU, Tennessee Tech, Ole Miss, Austin Peay, Cumberland, Lambuth, Mt. Union and many other places....just like other public and private schools. Didn't Pearl Cohn last year have about 12 guys off that one squad that went on to play somewhere? In one year schools like Riverdale, Alcoa, Pearl Cohn have more people to sign than Lipscomb has had in 10 years. Sorry everybody..its the system and I will repeat one more time as well: Head Coach been at the school for 26 years. Assistant Coaches who have been at the school for over 20 years. Players and their parents committed to off season workouts A middle school program that run your calls. (There is no playbook at Lipscomb) A freshman team who plays a separate schedule that run your calls A JV team Having nearly 25% of all your campus males playing football. They do all of this with less than 30% of most public school football budgets.
  10. I'm not competition. I jsut throw in a comment here and there. You'll want to go up against Bulldog69 (Page) and alltherage (Giles County) and of course from Lipscomb will be Bomb Squad and Eddie Haskell
  11. I am glad that the Mitchell coach finally saw the advantage of having a kicking game. He was missing it last year and in 2002. Kicking games can make a difference ask Giles County.
  12. Anybody who is still playing in the semis are considered a very good team whether they are from Memphis, Nashville, or Knoxville. Mitchell will be a tough opponent for Lipscomb. I have four request for the MItchell fans: 1. Will someone bring me a BBQ sandwich from Jim Neely's Interstate BBQ. Simply the best! 2. How many law enforcement officers would you suggest that we at the stadium Friday NIght? 3. Will you bring your marching band for our half time show? We just stand around and shiver at the half 4. Will you bring the girl who sang the National Anthem at the 2002 State Championship game. she was one of my favorites. Thanks for your consideration. We look forward seeing you in Nashville on Friday Night.
  13. There was an earlier post game post on the refs and how poorly the game was officiated. Here is the stats cut and pasted from the official stats. DL GC Penalties - Yards 4 - 30 5 - 28 I don't see that this was the problem. Folks, it was a evenly played game. Both teams had very late scoring drives. Lipscomb had the last one to win it. I said earlier, Giles County had to watch their mistakes. They had one big one...a missed conversion.
  14. You need to look at little closer to the threads this past week. My ID is already noted. Lets just put it this way. I have many very close contacts. As I said, I had no problems with his comments. Bo's a competitor and made his comments just a bit soon. (was the jest of my post...just a bit soon.)
  15. He is one of the best QB's we've face in some time. The recent ones that come to mind was Will Healy at Boyd, and what Wilson Cates at Livingston was able to do. Check with Bo on the comments. I am fine with his comments...he should have saved them when he was walking across the field shaking hands.
  16. Just got in from the post game show. Bulldog you were right, I did have to scrap a bit of ice from my backside. I wished that we had webcasted the game with both the video and audio so we could play it later but we couldn 't. For those who did not get to listen to the game, can listen to the re-braodcast beginning tomorrow morning sometime. The link will either be posted on the main index page or you can find it in the schedule/Game Central area located on the top of the page. The Mustangfanpage. Congratulations to The Giles County team, staff, and fans. It was a very memorable game. One that will be talked about for many years to come. To Bo: Great game, you came close. AFter scoring your last TD, you told the Lipscomb players, they played a good game and to keep your heads up. Bo, you left them too much time on the clock.. and they did walk off the field with their heads up along with their arms. Giles County if they had won, would have given Mitchell fits. Hopefully, Lipscomb still has a bit of magic left. The leprachaun said he would be back next week. Bulldog why don't you join Big Country, Catfish Hunter, and DaCAtfish and come on over to the Reese Smith Athletic Complex next Friday Night. I don't think he being DaCatfish will get close to the White House folks. They have a bad effect on him.
  17. Peter Powell's Lipscomb GAme Day Notes has now been posted on The Mustangfanpage featuring the TSSAA Quarterfinals featuring David Lipscomb hosting Region 5 rival Giles County. See Scouting reports, rosters and everything that you would want to know about both teams. The Mustangfanpage will have live audio coverage on the site.
  18. The Lipscomb Sports Network uses them like Nascar uses in car cameras..... to expand the broadcast abilities. We have now added helmet cams
  19. I had a feeling bulldog69 was Jackie Bennett. You still riding your tractor on Thompsons Station Rd?
  20. Some Comments: Jett Juice is what you get when you mix Duck Butter and Goose Grease. "Donald Lipsccomb" I like. Might use it on the Lipscomb Lizard Lounge Page appearing nightly on the Mustangfanpage. Bomb Squad, Eddie Haskell and Vandy 1 are not the same person. I am only Vandy1, The Dedeacon, and the Lipscomb Lizard. I do not have the talent of a Eddie Haskell and Bomb Squad. David Lipscomb also bottled a mean batch of fruit of the vine, best served at room temp and with unsalted crackers. A recent bottle was found below Avalon. The bottle is now housed in the AThens Clay and Francis Pullias room in the University Library. Bulldog now has one over Vandy1. He knew who I was and yet he still remains a mystery to me. Too bad Big Country, DaCatfish, Catfish Hunter is not able to enjoy all of this. Who is Jackie Smith? An R and B guy? I thought Jackie Bennett was the old coach at Page. Lipscomb had a back up longsnapper who set a record according to Coach Mac in 2005 against Chester County. He snapped the ball 35 yards over the head of the punter. We are still awaiting the posting of Peter Powell's Lipscomb Game Day Notes.
  21. My Friend, I am no Bomb Squad. I am old enough to be his father. (LUUUUUKE!) Matter of fact, I have two sons older than he is. I watched Bomb Squad play football. Yes, the rage could find me at the Lipscomb game, as you could as well. You only have to view my profile. As a matter of fact, I was very easy to find and have met many posters from CoachT as far away as Dyersburg to the west and folks from Fulton. I've got no secrets here. I am the creator and former webmaster of The Mustangfanpage and advisor to many other HS Football sites around the state. So my good friend, you are way off. Still looking to meet Bulldog69. I also have an alias....and he has only one post on Coacht. He only appeared in a thread in Class 1A.
  22. Oh how you have mellowed in your old age. You are like Robin Williams in Captain Hook...He had to be reminded that he was Peter Pan. Think hard and try to remember...Bomb Squad! Then proclaim as in the Broadway Show....I am Juan Don Quiote, the Lord Of LaMancha
  23. It is good to hear from you once again. Hey at least I called you out. Hope that you will make the call to Bomb Squad. Someone on the thread said his name three times in a row and you know what that means. These GC posters want to meet him and Bulldog has even given him some props. Things have been set up for you guys.
  24. Ok, here is my take: GC will be like Florida, ride it on Tebows back (Bo Wallace) Bo will have some success against the Mustangs on the ground and perhaps some timely passes underneath. Wallace really doesn't want to go long out there with Rogers and Lehning playing centerfield, because if either one of them makes a pic, it could be six. Lipscomb does a great job in blocking downfield on an interception return and both of them have the ability to pick their way thru the would be tacklers and with Rogers, he could be gone by the time GC turns around and see its an interception. Lipscomb will come out on the first couple of series and see how Giles County is set up for them and who's keying on who. Giles County will stuff the run at first. Under Coach Conner, Giles County has done a great job stuffing Lipscomb at the line of scrimmage. Lipscomb will make some halftime adjustments and see how that goes during the 3rd quarter. Both Giles and Lipscomb will have to play a near perfect game, but Giles has to make sure of that. Lipscomb has capitalize in the past on some of their mistakes.
  25. My friend, I was just addressing the issue of misspelled words on the forum that you brought up. As to the Game: Peter Powell's Lipscomb Game Day Notes will soon be posted on the Mustangfanpage featuring the Lipscomb-Giles County game. The Lipscomb Sports Network will be carrying the game live over the internet on the Mustangfanpage. Hope that helps.
