In my book: Wesley Smith from Scott. Plays both ways - gives 100% all the time - in the toughest division in 3a football; incredible stats running against a division of Fulton, AE, Anderson county, Kingston.. etc. "Facts are stubborn things."

Of course who knows what all the other assistants are doing, and if they are any good or not? This is a straight "homer" poll, or else it is a way to get people griping about their coaches. That being said, I like all Coah Sexton's (of Scott Highlanders) staff. Bill Hall has already been mentioned, there is Keith Shannon, (who have already been successful head coaches) and Tony Zachary, who is the master motivator, and now Davey Gillam is on board, who seems to be a genius at "x's and o's".

I don't know about AC, and Kingston - as they are located a bit closer to the Knoxville area- but for sure Scott County got cheated in the deal. I can't understand that move to save my life! In Scott you have players whose ride to school is anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes on back roads. Whereas in the other schools mentioned, boys can walk to school. The level of committment required is greater on a young man in a rural area, who has to add a couple of hours to his day (going and coming) just getting back and forth. This is one tough region - in my book, the toughest. And this year it got a bit tougher, it seems. YET still - Scott has a few special athletes this year, and an improved coaching staff - which was already as good as you would find anywhere. I expect Scott to have a special year "slaying the giants" of the region, while they are "under the radar."
