  1. That is actually working its way through the courts in a couple of other states. I believe the privates will let that set a precedent and the decide whether or not to pursue ... that is unless there aren't drastic changes after the BA v. T$$AA case.
  2. This case is starting to get some serious press! Today's USA Today - Page 4A. Homepage of ESPN here: http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/highschoo...tory?id=2840971
  3. There are a couple of options as explained to me by an attorney friend. The first is that they could just flat out issue a ruling one way or the other. The second could be that they rule a procedural error or ruling occurred in an appellate court - meaning they could issue a guideline ruling asking the appellate court to re-hear the case and rule again (which is why we've had this 10 year cycle of lawsuits now). Or your scenario, they could rule and ask the groups to work out their differences through mediation ... which is VERY highly unlikely with the case reaching the SC.
  4. The NFS and NCAA both support the TSSAA as they can see how the same ruling may apply to them ... basically nullifying there kingdoms. I don't blame them either. It will be interesting to see what the ruling is ... and if this is it or if they send it back to the appellate courts for even more tomfoolery.
  5. Ha! I'm thinking of a great Gin Blossoms song from the early '90's ... Jealousy. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> (I'm not a Goodpasture alum or student, nor do I have children attending the school.)
  6. I saw on CNN this weekend that a shark bit someone and then spit him back onto the beach. When the lifeguard on duty arrived on the scene, he said that the victim smelled like rotten apples and that's why he thought the shark spit him out. I thought that maybe it was you. Just kidding ... glad to have you back. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  7. Are you and MPHSLilKitty the same guy? He "goes to the beach" and then suddenly you reappear! /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" Just yanking your chain. Good to have you back. How's the Bethel softballers doing?
  8. Not to get off topic ... but that was wrong on so many levels. I've been to Hagy's and I live entirely too far to get there! And now my poor wife is going to hear me yap about it for days. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  9. Uh, the fisherman with 1 pond doesn't even have to try ... 99% of the fish literally JUMP into the boat. No effort. There is not hinderance at all.
  10. Hmmm ... I wonder how others would "know" that a kid was moving in to town like that. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> I guess the pond just got a little bit more crowded! /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  11. Alas, you are barking up a dead tree. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Just count your lucky stars that your youngin's have great schools in JCM and Liberty to attend.
  12. I'll take a stab. Fisherman #2 has a pond with 1,000 fish. Fisherman #2 knows that he doesn't have to try ... 99% of the 1,000 fish will be jumping into his boat. He doesn't even have to cast his line. Fisherman #1 has 9 ponds with 1,000 fish each. The fish all know that they don't have to be "caught" by this fisherman. In fact, only certain fish can even qualify to be caught by this fisherman (ability to pay tuition and or entrance exam requirements). On top of that, many choose to stay status quo and just go with Fisherman #2 cause that is free and easy. So in fact, the 9 "pools" are in fact NOT as deep as one would think. Hmmm ... that muddies the water a little bit doesn't it. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  13. It's alright BC. He has a prejudiced point of view and refuses to see anything else. Everyone else understands and, frankly, that is all that matters.
  14. Wow! Then you would be so insulted if Laz were online. He is the Chris Berman of handle "fun"! /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Oh poor Ain'tOne ... err, I mean Antwan. The horror he must be going through knowing others have fun with his handle. Oh, the horror! /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  15. You honestly think there aren't some kids from Lawrence and Lewis counties in school at MP? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  16. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Rrrrrriiiiigggggghhhhhhtttttttt! /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  17. I don't know about Jim ... but his son Wesley just completed his eligibility as a QB at Sewanne. Excellent athlete ... and although I don't know him personally, I hear he is a great kid too.
  18. Because they believe sacrificing something, whether it is a year or eligibility or tuition payments, is worth the move. Maybe it means better college exam prep, better grades, a Christian oriented curriculum, or a winning athletics programs. Other than the Christian curriculums ... it sounds a lot like the reasons folks move to Williamson County.
  19. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> You're senstive to a good natured play on your name! /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Easy lil' fella ... don't be so sensitive! /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  20. Actually, it isn't. I'm addressing MPHSLil'Kitty's accusations that it happens. He would have you believe that kids are showered with attention and given full free rides to privates. This same exact thing happened to me from a couple of public school coaches. One coach from SC that I met on a USC baseball visit that said I could live with him. A very, very good coach from the plateau (who I met at UT baseball camp) who said he could arrange living arrangements for me to attend his school. And my previous coach at the public I attended before transferring to FCS. Hmmm ... I wonder what the outcry would be if those proposals were made by a private? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  21. I'm not necesarily against the plan ... however, there are a few wrinkles that may make it difficult for privates to accept. The first is the "choose to play" opponents. I think without set regions, the VAST majority of publics would never play a private. That leaves the privates to a "split" league pretty much with tons of travel for all privates. In addition, I don't think they would accept TSSAA oversight if they are virtually split anyway. Why would they? The second is the outcome of the BA v. TSSAA lawsuit. BA has NOT won anything yet and either side may come out on top. If BA wins, they will hold a ton of power within TN high school athletics. If the TSSAA wins, I believe a complete split is unevitable. We all have to remember that the Supreme Court landscape has changed the last time the case made its way in front of them.
  22. Ha ... you always are. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  23. Uh, I even said it in the post you replied too. Privates don't recruit athletes, they try to attract students. That's it.
  24. Now, now ... lets not spread misinformation on what I'm saying. No privates "recruit" athletes in a collegial athlete sense with recruiting trips, names on jerseys, and free rides ... much like you allege daily with zero proof. Now ... all privates must get STUDENTS. That is done with PR, word of mouth, advertising, etc. The same avenues used by magnets and other publics with special programs. Let's not spread your misinformation on my statements. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
