  1. I'm not sure that anything is being simplified but I do know that the intent is to focus on winning this game with the kids who are wanting to be a part of the team. The circumstances heading into this game were unfortunate and embarassing and while not trying to minimize anything there is fault to spread around on both sides of those involved and with administrators at the school. You will probably see the qb who gives the team the best chance to win this week of the available players. While what happen was wrong and there is no reason for it to take place, I have to question the reaction to it.
  2. What's been done has been done...this game is still going to be played and the kids/coaches still want to do. There is more to the story then a kid being yelled at, which was wrong. I'll be the first to admit that I wanted to see a change at the position but not under those circumstances. Now these seniors are about to play on that field for there last time and they deserve the recognition and attention of the night.
  3. Great post. On media day, Coach Smith had a importu meeting with the parents and talked about how there were only handful of kids that could really play and how that he favors kids that worked hard. The last time we had the best players on the field was at the south game. The cramping took it's toll sure but when the platoon system was put in, the offense took the biggest hit. I've always believed that the offense was in trouble because it lived on the big play so much. As you said it was the kids that have the ability to make the big play, that were making them. We really haven't head anyone step up and do something outside of themselves from the other kids which making getting the ball into the playmakers hands very difficult. There is blame to put every where but I believe these kids are not going to just lay down and go to the wayside. I know of the kids that have worked hard, that have attended camps (very expensive to do), that made all the workouts and they have came to play every single game. I also know of the kids that are use to be giving things instead of earning them and they have not even if they are giving maximum effort on friday night but you can't just turn it on. Science Hill is a school where a certain group of people don't want to win if it means putting the best athletes on the field and their kid don't get to play. The funny thing is that I believe if things had born out better, everyone would have played and they would have been winning with ease.
  4. Who's crying they were just bad, give CC their credit. That personal foul call against them in the fourth quarter was horrendous. Why did the game have to stop for over 10 minutes to call offsides after the Topper interception. They were just bad.
  5. Well, if he quit it had more to do with that, might have something to do with him getting up in Coach Smith's face immediately after the game. Not saying that it doesn't have anything to do with it but I'm sure that there is more to it than that. I'm just saying do all your research before concluding that was the reason. I don't agree with getting up in that kid's face but his dad has been doing some questionable actions after games before last friday.
  6. I'm not really sure of the kickers rannge but I know at MoWest we were penalized 15 yards after the punt return for a touchdown which made the PAT an 35 yard field goal which was made with ease. I would say that his range would be from 40 yards in the middle of the field. We did kick a field goal against TN High and it was from 28 yards. Thanks for the comment on the handling of the events. I'm not happy about anything that has happen to this ooint but I can't control the actions of others. These kids deserved more than what has happen this year and maybe they can circle the wagons and finish strong.
  7. My bad then.....there has been an event that I don't feel it's my place to comment on. I will comment on after it has been identified. I really don't know where the team is but if they win out and Karns beat's Campbell Co next week then the Hilltoppers make the playoffs. From talking to my son, winning out is what's important to the team.
  8. Sounds like you have the jest of it but this is about the Karns game.....start another thread if that's what you wanna talk about.
  9. I'm not sure if it's a lack of ettiqute on your part or if you are directing your comments to me since you quoted me in your post. It's no secret to anyone on these boards to who I am so if your asking or have something to say to me, do it. Part of the learning experinces between human beings is that their should be a free exchange of information but the problem with people are that they don't always try to learn the whole story so they speak in half-truths. Kids are not responsible for their parents, Parents ARE responsible for their kids. With that being said when's the last time you ever seen a kid be able to change the way there parent(s) behave. You don't because the parents should be the authority so yes a kid can be embarassed by what his parent(s) do but that's about the extent of it. You can't hold a child (young man) accountable for something that is out of his control. No ADULT should ever confront someone elses child unless it's a situation of peril. If it would have been my kid, I would have been seeking that person out. That's me and I will never be accused of being the most rational of people. When you participate in public domains, you are iniviting criticism but their times and places. A line was crossed but it wasn't the fault of any player. It was the fault of an adult who needs to correct their way of thinking. Confrontation aren't always the loud and in your face kind, it doesn't help a kid when adults are coming up to him after games asking why isn't he getting to play more or why he isn't in a certain position or what's wrong with the team, all of these things are out of that kids control. It doesn't help.
  10. Looks that way....wow shows the charatcter of some people too but I'm not surprised.
  11. Remember that the qb took a sack on third down after the block punt that took us out of field goal range.
  12. The refs were bad but the Cougars outplayed/outschemed the Toppers.
  13. Just ask the Sharps on how that works.
  14. Let's talk about this game. How has Karns been doing and what should we expect to see from the Beavers?
  15. I've been trying to wait until my emotions have subsided to the point where I could write my opnions about the game and they not be directed to any individual but I'm not sure if that can take place. I believe that the 2007 SHHS Football season was hijacked for the benefit of a carpetbagger who doesn't care about about the program. This has to be the most disappointing loss of the season. There were several tactical errors that are beyond my imagination as to why they took place. Why waste the time outs before halftime to get to a third and 3 yard situation with under 20 seconds to have Daniel Sharp, the slowest player on the field (the lineman have outran him in testing), run a quarterback draw with no time outs left? Why not take two shots at the end zone since we were inside the opponents 30 yard line? Does it have anything to do with the hail mary attempt agains Jeff Co that only traveled 20 yards? Why start trying to run out the clock in late third and all of the fourth quarter with a 9-7 lead? It seems that the line was having trouble with the stunts or just getting beat so it seemed that the hitches was an effective way to move the ball but I guess the interception that was thrown lead to a loss of confidence in the players. We have heard the system works for the last couple of weeks but it seemed that it was abandoned in a tight game. Even in the two minute drill at the end of the game there were no throw attempted over 10 yards from the line of scrimmage. This one really stinks because it's the second week in a row that a inferior (talent wise) team stopped the offense because of the quaterbacks inability to make a play. If he can't pass the ball, we can't run the ball so why is he still playing? Yes, he there were 20 completions but those were hitches to receivers who were getting hit as soon as they caught the ball when the defenders are giving 10 yard cushions. Expect to see more of the eight man fronts to crowd the box against this offense and alot of the veer from Karns to wear down the defense..
  16. First, Coach Turner the ad made the hire. Second, there is a reason why they play the games so don't go counting chickens before the egg hatches.
  17. Your right, guess that's from experince.
  18. . The coaches weren't on the field for any of the loses. If we win aginst Jeff co. and THS coach looks like the best thing that happen to science hill football program. If we win out opions will change about the coach and the players. I just believe this is the begining of something special. But to make plays, kids capable of making plays have to be in position for the opportunity.
  19. You should take your own advice and not speak about things you don't know about. It's all fine to have allegience but it shouldn't be blind. South was better at the time and Bearden is just plain better. No one is questioning anything about their age. You should really get somone to proof for you.
  20. No it isn't but I don't get paid to coach. I'm not with those kids on the field so I think it's safe to say that what he saw and believed is different from what I saw and believe. The defense had already started to bend and with a two touchdown lead before getting the ball back after the half, maybe he was showing the defense how much he believed in them, I don't know but I can't really argue with the call as much as the play called. I bet there are not too many of those kids who second guessed it at the time, hindsight will always be 20/20.
  21. Be real if it had been a good throw and they went down and scored this conversation would be mute. I think the pass interference call on third and long prior to the score was a bigger play than going for it on fourth down. This team is an interception and fumble away from being 5-2 and sittting very pretty. Two plays. I didn't hear anyone saying that the fake punt against Sevier Co was a bad play. I like the moxie for the call but not the play. Didn't like the fourth down play later in the game either that the Jeff Co player was injured on either but understood the need for it.
  22. I don't think he will be given "eight years to turn this program around", that was in resoponse to the people that whine about bowles being fired. bowles had eight years on the job. Someone made the remark what would happen if Smith had a worse year than bowles did last year. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  23. I see and why did you decide to start posting? And if you don't want your posts to be taken negative, maybe you should do a better job of explaining your postition instead of complaining that the jv is more physical than the varsity.
