  1. 1590am is the voice of the Hilltoppers
  2. Two platoon system. Everyone plays on one side of the ball.
  3. It looked to me that Science Hill's offensive scheme was totally changed for this game. The Toppers moved the ball in the first quarter while running the ball from power I sets. Not very many plays( only had 30or so plays the whole game) came from the spread. Offensive line had problems opening holes, most gains on running plays came after the back bounced it outside. The passing game was erratic at best. Not many could be blamed on dropped balls tonight. Hill threw maybe two good passes out of his four but at two of them were in the first half and they came from playaction out of the power I. Never did seem him throw any passes in warm ups. I don't remember seeing any pitches, tosses or option looks to try to get the ball outside. I don't remember seeing any hitches thrown either but maye the 5 yard outs were suppose to be those. This was by far the worst offensive game of the season and everyone seems to share the blame with it. 66 yards total offense........... The defense played a great first half including two interceptions with one the only score of the game. It seemed that the Toppers might not have any offensive plays in the second quarter so i can imagine that fatigue might have set in on some in the secod half. The traps and dives with the big fullback leading killed us. Works is a patient runner with talent. On the dives, he would just follow the fullback with his hand on the fullback back and waited untill the fullback was stone walled before he would even try to make a move. Bearden just attacked the gaps of the Science Hill defense and was content with 6 or 7 yards until those became 10+ yard runs in the second half. First game I can remember the D having trouble tackling but I lost count on the times I saw players leaving their feet or go in with their head down and the ball carrier would side step or jump over them. Unlike earlier games, hard to say if help from the O would have helped the defense. Bearden is very talented and well coached. I don't get paid or have never been paid to coach a football team. Football has been a part of my life for the last 30+ years since I first picked up a ball. These are just opnions from what I saw friday night and are mine and that's it. Bearden is a very talented team and by far the best team that Science Hill has faced this season. Don't worry south fans, Phillips is the best player we have faced. The season is on the backside of the hill and this team still has every opportunity to get goals accomplished but will have to come together as a team.
  4. It's a team sport either it's we or nothing. If your who you say you are then it seems that you might be need to start thinking about why your out there. Instead of trying to critique what the offense is not doing maybe you should work (if you don't need the work, help your teammates) on their tackling because I lost count on how many times I saw a Topper defender either go for a tackle with their head down and Workd jump over them or sidstep them or wait for the runner to come to him and whiff. Unlike other games, I don't think either side of the ball won their matchups. Instead of pointing fingers at others maybe you need to ask yourself what am I doing to be the best teammate I can be and how can I help my team become better. Yor a real funny KID....too bad your parents haven't tought you better manners. Before you start calling people names you might wanna know who your talking to and what they are capable of and that's just a life lesson that you might wanna learn along with never say something about another that your not willing to say in that persons face. I said you had no crediblity becasuse you said Daniel Sharp was a Great Athlete and while he may be a good kid and does the best he can but NO ONE including his daddy would say he's a great athlete. There were some other things that you spoke about without giving or knowing all the information but that was the one that was over the top. Your problem might be that your too close to the the trees to see the forrest. I'm not going to get into a ###### contest with some kid (I assume you are because you said that you are) that needs to be concentrating on what's on his plate. It's not hard to figure out who I am and if you are who you said you are, it's not hard to find out who you are either. These computers are not as anonymous as you might wanna believe. I'm a big supporter of these kids and I do my best to help them in the ways i have available to me but you migh not wanna open a can of worms that will effect more than yourself.
  5. It's Hall of Fame week in Johnson City....the Toppers are coming into the game still looking for the first complete game by their offense of the season. The defense is coming off it's statistical worse game of the season. Fans and supporters have more questions than at any point of the season. Jeff Co supporters usually post well so maybe we can finally have a week of good football talk.
  6. That's my sentiment on the nail....I was one of the people who thought that TH didn't stand a chance....I had my crow raw....I believe this is the most important game of the Smith era to date becuase it's a huge confrence game and if there is anything left in the bag ( I believe there is) it will be brought out tonight...Science Hill's defense can play with just about anyone but the offense has to do it's part to help keep the defense rested....Science Hill has enough skill people that can make you pay for a missed tackle that every play has the potential for a td....I think that the loss last week has brought some people down to earth and you will see a focused team (players and coaches) that is more likely to be a cross of the the Morristown West and Sevier Co games then the team that lossed on the final play of the game.....I believe the Toppers in a squeaker by 2
  7. Maybe you should be more worried about getting better instead of being on here. Still don't impress me because your post was not credible.
  8. Why you worried about what I think if you know everything?
  9. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  10. None taken.....I just think that there have been some position changes with the Toppers that you haven't seen that's all. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  11. Your all good.....besides with no Bearden fans talking it's just a Topper thread anyways. Anyone knows where to listen to the Bulldog radio broadcast ?
  12. We are use to db fans trying to take over threads instead of starting new ones. I'm glad that you and casper like to misquote me but then again...that's what I expect.
  13. This is a different offense than in the past. I think the job the line has done has been tremendous job and don't get enough recognition for what they have been doing. I'm sure the playcalling is different than the JV but Coach Miller has really shaped this line into one of the most consistent units on the team. Keep up the good work Oline /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  14. Nothing wrong with that but it's been about two months, in a scrimmage, since you have seen Science Hill and just like the Hurricane...we are not exactly the same team that took the field that game. Bearden is going to be a tall order but they are still going to have to take the game on the field.
  15. I miss the good ole days (two weeks ago) when db was underwater and they weren't trying to turn every thread into theirs. Beating that big ole Betsy team has really revived the program over there. Brought a bunch of new posters on board and some back to life.
  16. Everyone loves the backup and believe me, I do too, but the problem lies with who do you bring over to give the team that big play threat on the outside? If he's going to run some type of option and bring in a tightend, I'm all for it but your are going to have to let him roll out and give him a run/pass option. I beieve that would open up the backside drag and post routes. I think that the leash will be shorter in confrence games because there is no more room for slip ups.
  17. If that's what gets you through the night.....you have a really warped senswe of reality there, I hope your day trips from the hospital are supervised. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  18. Thank you for the grammar lesson but I always believed that the use of adjectives was in the eyes of the author. You will have to ask the AD and football coach why they don't play teams that they will see in the first couple of rounds of the playoffs. As far as helping, I'm not sure it has helped anyone that has played those games the last couple of years.
  19. I'll try to type this really slow for you and you can do me a favor by reading it at that speed. There are these new things called media, they usually include the raido, newspapers, television and sometimes the internet. Using these "medias" you can read and listen to sporting events that you can not attend or see. I listen to the Bearden Bulldogs dispose of db and I have read the reports and stats of their games. Doing these things gave me a good base to form an opnion based on facts. Only problem is without seeing the games it's difficult to have a good feel how they are getting these things accomplished. I know the lead the league in rushing defense but they have also been ahead big in most of their games (ie teams had to pass against them to get back in the game and the rushing yards might be skewed to show that). I listen to them beat db but that was before db unleashed their redshirt freshman on the weaker part of their schedule. I know your new to this but I'll do my best to dumb down my posts so that you can keep up. I was actually trying to have conversations about the Bearden-Science Hill game but forgot that now db is 500 that there championship march has started. I suggest you worry about Sevier Co and Nov.2 will be here soon enough.
  20. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Wow a good win over a bad Betsy squad and all the band wagon jumpers are back on board. Now weren't you just over on another thread telling people not to count wins before they happen. Glad to see you back and posting since your self imposed exile or is it because your back on board now after a couple of wins.
  21. I'm not too sure about the Bulldogs have a tougher front 7 but I haven't seen Bearden play. I think that TN High had the best front seven that we have seen so far. I think this game will serve as a good lesson of what needs to be done here forward. I believe the Tn High game was a carbon copy of the south game with the way that the offense let the defense out to dry but lucky for the Toppers that the Vikings were content with running the clock out as soon as they stepped on the field. I have been impressed with the way that Bearden has played defense this year and it's very tough to come outside of Knoxville and get a win because the refs call a different type of game down that way, imo. It's not like Tn High is a slouch and they didnt' blow us out but they got the W and we get a lil more resolve, now we will find out what it means.
  22. No doubt that the Bullodogs enter this game as a huge favorite game. They were my favorite to win the confrence and nothing has changed that view. They have a ton of experince and this group of Toppers have never beaten them. After the Toppers loss to TN High and the impressive Bulldog win against Halls and the game being held in Knoxville, it looks like the Toppers could be in for a long night. It's a matchup of the two top ranked offenses and defenses in the confrence. In my opnion, this is for the confrence title since Campbell Co is the only other team in the confrence without a loss in league play.
  23. LOL.... I guess I should have given you better props for what you say back then. No one here is speculating about how things would have been different, well maybe...I really thought on our last drive that once we got to midfield that we would start running the ball again to get in field goal range or maybe break one since Sharp had struggled. I'm not a fan in putting the game in his hands (south and this one) because there is many playmakers on the offense but I don't get paid to coach. I guesss prespective is in the eyes of the beholder because I thought Science Hill shot it self in the foot more than TN High did anything to stop it. Not to take anything away from TN High because I do believe they executed their game plan to keep the game close and not give up anything deep while stopping the run. Run the clock to shorten the game. I just think that Science Hill's inability to take advantage of what was there (bad throws, drop balls, not running the ball more in the early stages) than anything TN High did but like I said before the game we hadn't beaten anyone with a winning record so we are still trying to find out what we have. I think this loss will serve notice and this weeks game agains Bearden will answer any remaining questions if we will compete for a tittle.
