  1. Bruceton is in west TN. This should only be Middle Tn.
  2. One thing he has going for him is he hasn't been beat up all year. He should be fresh.
  3. That's what I was hoping. I don't want ya'll to have any excuses.
  4. Is it legal for him to practice with the squad while not eligable? I know he scrimmaged against us. We have had players that weren't eligable that we didn't let practice or play before they got eligable.
  5. My main concern would be keeping the same number of schools in each region. We have one region with 10 teams fighting for 4 playoff spots while one region has 5 teams fighting for 4 spots. The number of teams in each region could go down to maybe 6 or 7 per region in 1A and set the enrollment at that point about 56 teams. Then take out the next 56 teams or so and set the enrollment so on and so forth. There could be a little leeway but teams could always find games with higher or lower classification schools near them to fill the void. Tennessee has about 327 schools participating in football. This would work out to almost the 56 schools per classification I described above. 56 teams x 6 classifications = 336 teams. With the addition of new schools being built all the time in a couple of years it will be right on target.
  6. Hard to get any respect isn't it? lol.
  7. C'ville pulls this one out, just in the nick of time.
  8. I think they are making a mistake by leaving another west Tn. team out. Only McKenzie is on the poll from regions 7 and 8 while region 5 has 3, 6 has 2, 3 has 2, 4 has 1, 1 has 1, and 2 has 0 in the top ten. There are some good teams on here but maybe some that are left out. Midway from region 2 looks pretty good on paper. I'm not sure about region 8 but surely someone from that region should be mentioned.
  9. Did you put luvfootball up to this? For some reason I thought he was from region 4. I will say Region 4 and 5 both look real strong and then there is McKenzie in region 7. Who ever wins it this year has a long row to hoe. I would also vote for region 2 being the weakest in the state, if not region 8. A couple of years ago region 6 had a 7-3 team that didn't even make the playoffs. That to me is pretty tough. Until region 5 or 6 wins a state championship it will be hard to argue with anyone.
  10. Tough luck Hornets. I enjoyed the ride over. You guys have a nice facility. You are down a little this year but I know you will be back soon. Good Luck with the rest of the season.
  11. Play LC a good close game and win or lose you will get respect. MP beat Collinwood by a point and C'wood moved up 2 slots in the poll.
  12. Wanta bet? Until the MP blockers show up I believe it. I'm not just talking about the line either. Plus the defense has missed way to many assignments the last couple of games.
  13. Against the weaker teams that we play he plays sparingly. Zion he carried the ball 3 times this year, by the way he only carried it 3 times last year against them. Against Perry County and Cornersville he didn't carry the ball after half time. You are right his rushing numbers aren't as good but he has almost 700 yards passing this year to make up for it. Against LC, who is ranked 3rd or 4th in 2A he put up 125 rushing along with 80 passing with 2td's rushing and 1 passing. LC averages giving up about 10 pts a game. Collinwood was averaging giving up 7pts a game, Marco had 1 rushing, about 200 yds, and 1 passing, about 120 yds. I could go on but I won't. You don't have to degrade his game to say something good about another back. I agree there are other backs out there that are very good, please talk them up as much as you like. You have no right to down play Marco's accomplishments.
  14. Regions 7 and 8 have earned my respect over the last couple of years. They do have some top competitors. I checked out the espn recruiting ranking and am impressed that Chad is thought of so highly. I have no doubt that he will be a contender for the award again this year. I also understand that he is pretty good on defense. Being from MP I have to stick with Dailey even though he isn't on espn or whatever. He makes some unbelievable cuts and breaks so many tackles it's ridiculous. I agree with you one hundred percent that the offensive line is a major contributor to the Mr. Football back, Marco would also agree. He always compliments his line, even when he doesn't have much reason to. As for mtownballer saying he wasn't impressed after seeing Jordan play one game. I can understand that. Sometimes you just don't SEE everything that a player does if you don't watch him several times. I've heard several people say that about Marco but when the game is over he has 200 yds rushing, 100 passing, and a combined total of 4 or 5 TD's. What more could you ask for out of a 17 year old high school player?
  15. I agree Orange. It is always a hard hitting afair. I always enjoy playing Huntland because of that. For the most part the teams play clean and try to clean each others clocks. Hopefully it will be another one of those. As far as the trip, yeah it is that far for us. You just don't realize it because you have a long distance to go to play everybody. I can't imagine the trip from Huntland to WC, C'wood, and PC. Got to be at least 3 hrs.
  16. Region 5 may go 4 - 0 against region 6 this year. Cascade, JB, WHH, and McEwen or Forrest may all win this year. Region 6 teams are playing terrible right now. Way to many turnovers and penalties for any of them to win come playoff time.
  17. I was going to post but after reading all this I realize this thread is hot enough. What the heck. Who usually wins this game? Talk about cheating, Hickman Co goes from 4A to 2A and keeps all the athletes at old high school instead of requiring them to go where they are zoned, huh. So long as it is legal I guess. LC still pulls this one out in a close one. LC will need to play their best game of the year.
  18. MP needs a good week of practice. The long drive over will hurt but if they get there and get loose they will be ok. If they stay focused the rest of the year I still expect they will make a run toward the state. BUT they must take it one game at a time and not expect teams to lay down. I'm extremely proud that they didn't lay down when MC got up on them this last week. Having a chance to win at the end was all we could ask for. We will punch that ball in at the end more times than not. Go Tigers!! Your best plus 10% is all we ask.
  19. That would be like UT playing Rocky Top when the other team scores. Come on McGuy that aint going to happen.
  20. It wouldn't make a difference because no matter what the score is C'wood doesn't loose, they just run out of time.
  21. It's over It's done we got beat. MC came in and whipped us. As good as we thought our line would be we just aren't as strong as we were last year up front. We had more depth last year, that is a big difference. We really need some of the Sophomores to show up so we can spell some of the starters more and to push those guys to get better. I thought it would happen as the year went on but it just hasn't. Come on guys put this one behind you and get focused. I still believe we have a long playoff run if you do. Remember Work Hard! Play Harder!!
  22. I diagree. The state championships are still hard to come by. At the end there are only 2 of what, 50 or so teams in each division? Building better athletes is not only done by raising the level of competition but by giving more athletes an opportunity to play and develop. Some of the smaller schools have great athletes but would not get a chance if there wasn't a football or sports program.
  23. I think TSSAA should go to a 6A classification system like other states like Alabama, Ohio, maybe Kentucky? etc.. They could lower 1A by 50 or so students to give the smaller schools a better opportunity and go up a class every 250 or 300 students until they get to 6A which would put that classification over 1850 or so. It would even out the schools a bit more. Right now 5A is competing from 1400 or 1500 to 2500.
  24. These are very close according to tssaa.org/classification. Of course the attendance figures are a couple of years old but you can get an idea of where schools stand.
  25. Not always when a team looses to another team does that make them the weaker team. I mean just because UC lost to Bruceton doesn't mean they would win next time. Just ask Collinwood. They are always the better team no matter what the score says. LOL!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!
