Smyrna always gets lavergnes top talent in that little town. Rumors are Gray, Wilks, Q.Allen,M. Johnson, twon all where zoned for lavergne, live in that area but received zone exemption by director of schools. Since they have him on their side, they will be a top team in the state every yr. Just explain how the kid from oakland was going to be eligible to play without valid move. What about girls basketball? Hmmmmm. Since the director of schools played for smyrna's current principal i guess he gives him the best athletes the town has to offer. But the real reason smyrna's built a top team is because the little league system is a great program. The middle school has been undefeated for 5 maybe 6 yrs now and they have great athletes that know how to win cause that's all they have done in their career. Just wondering how lavergne even survives losing the best talet in the town year in year out. This years group include Jarvis hicks, garreous, A. martin, yoder, tyler bryson at smyrna. Other schools have them too, tre oliver, KJ & bobby leonard-riverdale. Crocker & D. Myers-blackman, Byron Marshall-Hillwood, Jamal Ramsey starting Qb at BGA, already committed D1. Good luck to all teams in region 4-5a. My pick will be smyrna to 3 peat with a very improved blackman, oakland, siegel teams ready to get a taste of the party. This will be a great year for region 4-5a.

DOES ANYBODY KNOW OF ANY SCHOOLS THAT STILL HAVE WEIGHT LIFTING CONTEST FOR HIGH SCHOOL? I KNOW RIVERDALE USED TO HAVE 1 AND A GREENVILLE HIGH IN KENTUCKY. ARE THERE ANY MORE SCHOOLS IN TN, THAT HAVE A STRONG MAN CONTEST OR WEIGHT LIFTING COMPETITION?

Didn't this group of senior wildcats go underfeated during their freshmen year. That means they beat the mighty warriors. Don't know just heard that this senior class went underfeated. If they did, they have a good chance at de-throning the champs. Some body will do it this year. Take it down, mark it in the books. The might warrrior streak will be over this year!

How come these players didn't make a difference last year under hannah's guideance. Just stating the facts about what I see. All I saw Lavergne's oline and dline do last year was get blowed up. Moos and Grooms must be doing something because both lines have improved tremedously. I think siegel got their first victory over Lavergne last year. Why would a coach want to come to a program that will be inshrined in the history books as the team that gave the winless stars their first victory? More athletes to work with I guess. Seems like Riverdale gets all the speedy athlethes in the boro.

At first I picked Lebanon to win because of the battle in the trenches. I know I know, I should of picked our boys in the beginning. I didn't think our boys could match up with the strongest team in Region 4-5A. Our boys have improved yes but the strength factor might be a factor, however, our guys have showed that you better be in superior shape to stop the spread and no huddle. After watching Coach Moos and Grooms do what they do with the oline and dline now, Lavergne might have a shot at winning. My prediction was solely based on last years match up. Lavergne got their butts handed to them by Lebanon's line last year. But Lebanon lost all starters on the oline from last year and I'm told they aren't as good as last years line. They are a inexperienced line so I will pick Lavergne to win by 3.

I asked coach grooms at lavergne's practice today if he was related to the QB and it is his cousin. He had the privelage to coach him for 2 years. His cousin went to Tenn Tech. Coach Grooms also graduated from Lebanon in 1989, the Medley years. Why would Lebanon not rehire one of their own alumni back? He doesn't know why they didn't because nobody will give him a straight answer. Why would you have a shake up in the coaching staff after the team went 8-2 and got a home playoff game since 95-96? Something is shady in Lebanon when you let one of your good coaches go without a reason. All I can say is thank you Lebanon for the blessing. Coach Grooms is a good coach and I can see the difference he is making with our teams, varsity and freshmen.

Just heard that Lavergne has Lebanon's old d-line coach on the staff. I don't know how that happen, but I can tell the difference in the big hoggies play since camp. I wonder could he be the x-factor in the game. Maybe they can put him in one of those lifts like Lebanon uses at home. I still think Lebanon will over match Lavergne because of the strength factor. I've seen Lavergne play and they don't tackle to well. They arm tackle and sling people around. I heard Lebanon has won Riverdales weight lifting contest the past 2 years. The RB gaines squats over 500+, so I think he won't have a problem running out of arm tackles. Maybe Lavergne spread will give Lebanon's new Db's fits, but with rain slated for the night I don't think so. Lebanon by 14 still.

Lebanon plays at Lavergne. Who do you think will win? Lebanon took it too Lavergne last year, so I wonder if they think it will be another easy victory like last year. Lebanon's has some big aggressive players on both sides of the ball and so does Lavergne, but Lavergne's line play looks weak. So I'm going with Lebanon because of the battle in the trenches. Well maybe if jarvis wasn't practicing with smyrna illegally for a few weeks he would have had more playing time. I think the coaches at Lavergne didn't want to ###### off the players that had been there all summer and play a kid that didn't want to be there in the first place. How can you trust him. But I did see Lavergne's freshmen take it to Smyrna, How many Td's were called back. I think hicks broke for a 80 yard run, running over mr. Mckay in the process, but there was a mysterious holding on the play. Seems like everytime lavergne had a big play there was a penalty. That wouldn't be because the head refree was a graduate of smyrna High. Things that make you go HMMMMM.
