  1. You know what ajii33, it would be refreshing if the football coach did shave the team down to just 15-20 players. you would know for sure who really wanted to play. I would bet you though, that out of the players left, you would find that a lot would be the ones from the walk out two years ago. I for one think that all of the Coaches from Harpeth High School need to learn from the example the band sets. 1) how much and how often they practice 2) the parent envolvement 3) the number of people that come out for band 4) the year round enthusiasm of their leader Now I am not a band parent, but a football parent. I have seen first hand the ups and downs of this program. I have seen which coaches care and which ones do not. And don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with a coach geting onto a player or the team when and if they need it. I have also seen the Players that care and the ones that do not. I have been envolved with this program since my son was in the middle shcool. The whole program has been in trouble for longer than the "Goats Boys" have been around. But until you have a coach who knows how to handle "BOYS" who play football and who realizes that football is year round, not just July through October, you can expect more of the same
  2. You don't here very well then purplegrad. the coach making his son QB was only a very small part of the reson for the walk out. Obviouly you did not read the rest of my post. The OC was a drifter of a teacher and coach. WHO HAD BEEN RUN OFF FROM THREE OTHER PROGRAMS. He also was coaching a Hillwood where he teachd, they even fired him as a coah before he came to Harpeth. So please, unless you lived it, you have no right to judge the boys, they did what they thought was the right thing to do, to save the program, if not for themselves, then for the boys coming up behind them. Please get all the facts before you jerks run your mouths. You don't here very well then purplegrad. the coach making his son QB was only a very small part of the reson for the walk out. 3. The ONLY reason that the goat incident is their "mantle" ksgovols is due to the fact that morons won't let it go. as for the boys that walked off, it took commitment to do what they did. They took a stand and stuck with it. How else do you make changes. Change is not always fair and can be ugly. Change can get peoples feelings hurt. But change is inevitable, there is no stopping it and change has and will continue to come to Harpeth. So lets try to kepp the bad mouthing to a minimum and get out and support the team.
  4. I don't know who you people have been talking to, but there is a lot of talent on the Harpeth football team. And if you had a coach with the back bone to stand up for himself and his team, then they might win a few games. As for the walk out back in 04, it was NEVER about the head coach. He made it about him. It was ALWAYS about the OC. No one was ever fired. The 27 players who walked of the team were tired of having the very will to even play football stunk right out of them. You had an OC that came in with an agenda, to build a team around his son as quarterback. Every one on the team and in the stand could see this. They had a teacher from a school in Nashville as OC. A teacher who had worked at 9 different schools in the last 20 years before he came to Harpeth as OC. A coach who had been run off from at least one other program and asked to leave from two others. Just go ask Waverly, their kids walked off when ths guy was there. Hopefully Coach Loope will be able to turn this program around. But I am afraid that it wont happen untill the region is changed. The current region is a parting gift from the former head coach. So please come out and cheer the boys on it would help them greatly.
