Well for all the haters I just got confirmation that Rankin (Alcoa) called today. We tried to schedule but no open weeks for either in common. If anything changes we will be calling Alcoa back. You see we aren't scared of anyone, but we have investment in protecting our kids as much as possible emotionally and physically. Call it how you all wanna, but in the end... NONE of your teams tried to call us before you filled YOUR schedules!!! 2 of our open weeks should be finalized on Monday. I will say this and all you haters can stop hating about us playing weak teams. Looks like one will be Hixson and one will be Grundy (hopefully). Both are higher classificatikn and playoff contenders. So that leaves us week 0 and 6.

We lost our next QB to mccallie for basketball then I "heard" he left there and went to ooltewah but planned to return to SP... Just sounds like trouble to me

Are you saying your team only schedules sure losses??? We at SP just give all you hiders something to talk about on a regular basis. Without us you would just read and not post! Glad to have you on our thread!

It's not stooping to find another opponent of any caliber. What team are you with? Do you play an "weaker" opponents? Some of the opponents on this list were already full schedule and some just flat said no. One of the problems is they tell us no, but play an even better opponent thinking that game would be easier. I guess I understand, better to lose and be closer to home than travel across state and lose. The problem we face is we have 35-40 kids each year. We have Freshman and Sophmores that play, and if they don't, then they play JV. So they get a little playing time on both. We have a sophmore RB that is quick as lightning and I assure you will score 2 or 3 times on most all JV's, maybe even varsity. I can't tell you guys enough, from top to bottom we got kids that can flat run and score. When we play bigger teams that sub 3-4 guys in every play on the line and in the backfield it wears us down. When you are tired you are more likely to get injured. So its pick your poison. Schedule who you can regardless of size of school and caliber of team and risk getting worn down and hurt then be down to nothing but those freshman and sophmores.... or play in your region, try to play teams on the same level as you as close to possible, or travel. But when you travel you don't want to set yourself up for defeat... as I stated above to teams not wanting to travel to us. I truly believe SP wouldn't care as much if it didn't have playoff implications. If you lose 1 game in your region, then lose 2 or 3 of the other non region games (higher classification teams), what good does it do??? You may not make the playoffs in todays system!!! I like slimshady's idea about getting Haslam involved. I hear is deeply involved in UT hiring Chucky (hopefully).

You did because you belong in 4A and can sub 4-5 fresh guys in every play. We should NOT be the measuring stick for you. YOU are on the level of the Alcoas and Maryvilles. it sucks having to play the same level teams or better doesn't it ??

Most of you miss the point. Let me break it down. -SP small 1A powerhouse. -Won a lot mostly the past 19 years. -Has scored a lot on feeble opponents mostly when they ran their mouth first or our JV did most of the scoring -has beaten and lost to annual playoff contenders in 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A -has been mercy ruled very little -Continues to play local schools in other sports and gets the day lights beat out of them and then returns the favor in football -sits back and gets shafted out of money for home field advantage in the playoffs because of 1-3 losses to Bigger schools an is suppose to accept it?? -Already has 4 region games in LOokout Valley, whitwell, Marion, and now Sale Creek -already has games with Boyd (2a contender year in and year out), Polk (3A contender year in year out), Sequatchie Co (3A powerhouse in all other sports and rapidly on the rise in football) - that leaves 3 opponents to play. Based on the existing playoff system losing can hinder you in the playoffs badly, so a coach would be foolish to schedule anyone that is a definite loss such as the Alcoas and maryvilles. First you try all local 1A schools then move up and across the state but have to think about money to travel. If your program can't bring in revenue from home playoff games then the program can't afford to travel too far.... Or most importantly.... Lose -EVEN A POWERHOUSE DOESN'T WANT TO SET UP 15-18 YEAR OLDS TO FAIL I don't see any of you running out and beefing up your schedules outside of your own region!!!!!

And don't anyone say move up to 2A. We would have the same problem because then we lose all the 1A schools that actually would play us. Of course all the 2A that say no now would be in our district/region an would have to play us. And anyone is out of their mind for us to schedule Baylor and mccallie. Even in Boyd's great years they still were hammered by Baylor, and they beat us easily this year!

We tried they said no. I have a very LONG list of schools some of which are in the 1A playoffs that I know of 1 of them is still in it.

Rumor is coffee county said they wouldn't play us, but instead scheduled BGA, because quote "BGA is easier"! Obviously their coach and AD have no clue. BGA may be down this year but they are regularly a powerhouse compared to us!

Start playing Boyd each year then and quit playing chatt Christian and grace baptist

I was told that Grundy wussed out and already said NO for next year. We have 4 district games scheduled. Then we got Polk, Boyd, and Sequatchie. That leaves 3 games to schedule. Forget about Signal Mtn. We can make money with home games in the playoffs.
