From an outsider looking in who knows nothing about CJ personally.I would almost bet that he had great intentions coming in and more than likely wanted to lead his alma mater, but again if you’ve ever reached the pinnacle of any profession as he has, you also long for those challenges / money.

There is lots of blame to be thrown around here and definitely I would say this man has a lot of it to bare, but whomever does the hiring up there has his or her fair share also.

There is a reason why people don’t hire CEO’s to be custodians… it’s called over qualified and they realize that the custodian job is probably not going to challenge the person enough mentally or award them enough financially!

The hire should have never taken place!

It’s funny you say that because who made the hire made it then retired right after.

Let's not forget our QB, Jackson Cassidy.  He can throw it on you or if needed, take off running and is about as elusive as anyone I have seen.  In addition, Etijay Tharpe is starting to come into his own taking some of the load off of Marquez Taylor.  He was the other RB with Marquez when they came up through middle school.  We are slowly building a 1-2 punch with those two.   Although the rest of our season is filled with a not so tough schedule on paper, I think it will pay off in getting younger kids more reps.  And with all that being said, we are one or two more injuries away from being average.

What schools are Taylor leaning towards?

Cut back on spending? Oh you mean like 20 year old equipment? Or the green mildewed Goal posts? Or the Black Concrete stands? Or the Roofs that leak so bad the weight room and locker room has 4 inches of water standing in them! Or the hundreds of dollars it costs to paint the Field each Home Game and Jr high Game? Or the 4000+ cost for each away Game? Or the pregame meals that wasn't there this year until a local restaurant pitched in and donated those? Or cut back on Mowing every few Days? I'm just a little confused on what you would wanna cut back on? Especially since Chris payed for alot out of his own Pocket

You are right.  I’m not sure where to cut back but if the equipment made it 20 years whats 1 more year.  I’m just offering suggestions looking for answers.  I don’t claim to have the solutions.  We just need to move on.

Pretty sad that some of you called Chris your Friend!  Most have NO clue what you are talking about so I'll fill you in a little! First off! Chris has had political idiots in this Town be against him from day 1! The Team is broke! Who knows where the Money went!! Chris has been spending a lot of his own Money trying to get things in order! He is at the Field house by 4 am 6 days a week and doesn't leave until 9-10 pm!  Our weight room floods our visitors locker Room floods. Our Pads are over 20 years Old and some of our Pants didn't even have enough pads to use them!! I could go on and on about the facility's but right now they are in better shape except roofs than they have ever been because of Chris!  He had these Kids in better shape than they have ever been and everyone plays!  Certain people have showed up and let Chris know he would only ever be the Coach . Chris had to set a few people straight! Now Covid hit and who knows if we can finish.  You guys gripe because we beat up on weaker Teams and you all keep saying we need to Schedule tougher Teams so we will be ready for the Playoffs! So Chris does just that and you still gripe!! You do realize how many Games Fayetteville lost last year and still won it all! If you think Chris left without a care you are very ignorant!!  You can't blame Chris for wanting the very best for the Pirates only to pretty much ran off!! I want any one of you to tell me just 1 Coach that if offered a Job with a hundreds of thousands of dollar contract offer wouldn't take it!! He only had a few Day window to accept more money than Most  Teachers will only see after 20 years of Teaching! Or turn it down and clearly stay were many didn't want him!!  You see the problem that Chris only thought about himself! I see it as you're only thinking of Yourself!! Every single one of you would accept a huge money deal if it was offered. But I'll tell you this! If Chris was left alone and let Coach and have the Money that everyone thinks Spitt has. He would have never left!  Who would have ever thought these Kids are playing with 10+ year old inferior Pads!! And no money to do a darn thing about it! Seems nobody can tell anyone where the Money went!. I say Congratulations Chris!! You are the Coach that thousands of Coach's want to be!! Over look all these armchair Coach's. I'm pretty ashamed of some of you! Hope your Church doesn't get hit by Lightning Sunday! You have Judged Chris and 99% of you have no clue what has went on! Most of you support Ty Robinson ! So go look at His Facebook post as he spoke his mind! Shame on you that called Chris your Friend!

While I understand everything you are saying, at the end of the day he still left mid season because of adversity that HE was facing.  Just suck it up and cut back on spending.  Now as far as everything that happened behind the scenes, that is very sad, but listen, we already had our pride and name tarnished some by never winning the big games, and the probation, so let’s not provide fuel to the fire for the whole state to see that our program behind the scenes is not doing well.  People don’t need to know all that.  I’m not saying I don’t agree with you, I’m just saying there’s no need to shame a program to save a coach’s face that just quit our boys, our school, and our community.  It can be spinner however we want, but at the end of the day he is gone.

Now, IMO we may have just come out on the better end.  I know it’s not a Pro Coach, but it is two VERY knowledgeable high school coaches who love those kids, the program, the community, and winning just as much as anyone.  Their dedication is the same.  Wes Stone would be there at the field house all day too if he didn’t have a young family at home and a full time job.  But trust me, at the end of the day I know for a fact that Stone was one of the last to leave, if not THE last to leave.

    Just as I was told:

We will adjust, adapt, and move on!  That’s what we do here!  Go Pirates!

That's what was said but the former coach signed a two year contract and when Jones came he decided not to play it, for whatever excuse.  If I remember it correctly, most of these same posters that are saying put it back agreed with the coach when he decided to cancel it.  I'm fine either way.  Not going to bring the c word up but that rivalry has held the county back for a long time anyway.

I’d have to agree with you.  I am seeing this too.

Absolutely. Leaving for personal issues or family matters would be one thing, but just bailing in the middle of the season for a better opportunity is extremely unprofessional. If that was the man in charge of my kids, I would be glad he was gone, and hopefully replaced with a better role model.

He said in the beginning this was his dream job being an alumni from SP.  He said it has nothing to do with the money.  He just was happy to be back and had all these huge expectations and ideas for the community.  So I don’t think he left because of pay.  I think he realized how small of a program we really are and the funds to do things he wanted just weren’t there.  He or someone ran off our best fundraiser guy.  A program like ours can’t survive on just selling apparel and 1 raffle.  If you want to ride to away games in a nice charter bus, have pre-game and post-game meals, it’s gonna cost at least $3000-$5000 each away game and then probably near the same for home games because you gotta buy all the paint for the field.  And you all remember there were a lot of folks wanted Brad Waggoner, including Vic Grider, to get the job and not Chris.  If those folks were some of our biggest donators and volunteers, I’m willing to bet a lot of that extra help disappeared.  Not to mention Covid.  I’m mad, very mad, but I’m also the type to give a person the chance to explain their actions.  Just pray for these kids that whoever takes over will guide them, mentor them, and Coach them on and off the field.

They have turned Mikes oxygen down to 95 and he is still doing good with it . His oxygen is staying 95-97 and heart rate is in the mid to high 70 which is great considering where he has been last few days . The dr said his lungs have had some small improvements . Today has been a good day . Not leaps and bounds but with Gods grace the small steps will add up and he will be home soon. Thank you! His is so good !!

We lost a lot of key linemen from that team last year. You can always replace skill guys the majority of time at SP but last years linemen were hands down better than this years and that’s a big difference. Overall wise, I would have SP at 4 behind Peabody, Fayetteville, and McKenzie.

Yep I can agree with that.  The McKenzie RB is the real deal from what I’ve read.

You remember it well, still only bleachers on one side, tree,s are gone. Don't think anything else has changed. Crowd not nearly as wild as they were in those days.

We were 5-5 that year regular season and somehow made it to the semis at Cland.  It was a great game that went back and forth.  I remember if you kicked a field goal on one end you might as well forget getting the ball back.  You kicked it into the woods lol.  From the main road the school looked awesome with the football field lights on nestled back off the road against the side of that big mountain.  I remember we walked through the gate and a couple of Cland big huge lineman were propped up against the fence with no shirts on.  One had a beard that looked like Grizzly Adams.  A belly that looked like a barrel of beer.  He looked like he was at least 22 years old lol.  I’ve never been so intimidated as a fan lol.  I remember he played mean and was heck of a ball player.  You remember that @piratetom?  Both of us have always enjoyed going to new stadiums.  We love high school football.  Now that I think about it that was 2001, because my then best friend and another friend met us and went to it.   I then married that best friend in summer 2002.  Anyways, this should be a close game.  Good luck both teams.

  10. Has Cland made any updates to their stadium?  The last time we were up there was around 2001, 2002, or 2003.  Seems like everyone sat on the same side though.  I’m probably wrong there as my memory has eluded me.  I do remember the concrete bleachers went straight up the mountain side with a couple trees growled up through the middle of them in places.  And it was very very dark because the lights were down on the field only.  I loved the location it was an awesome experience though.

  11. In the one game we’ve been able to play we ran only 4-5 base plays.  I also look forward to a bigger game to see how our coaches and players react.  We have the guys playing this year that should have started or at least played a lot more last year, and given the chance to showcase their skills.  Geno, don’t get so excited.  The way you talk about Coach Jones makes me believe y’all drink from the same straw.  We all know he’s a great coach, but at the end of the day these young men still have to execute.  Fayetteville was big, strong, and well coached last year.  They deserved to win.  If we played them 10 times with last years team I believe they still win most all of them.  Peabody has a great QB and the Gannoway (not sure on spelling) brothers are VERY good athletes.  They too are very big.  I’ve watched every video I can on Peabody.  I would take Coach Jacobs any day.  I like his pregame and halftime speeches.  He’s a great motivator from what I can tell.  The poll is very accurate for once. Until we win another championship we will always be behind them and Fayetteville IMO.

  12. Just got a pretty good report on Mike Molder.........from his wife

I got my first report of the day from Mike with a text that read "better night " followed by a message asking me to bring him a new Sonic Cheeseburger that looks like a patty melt when I come to visit ! Hallelujah that made me happy! The nurse called and said that his heart rate is back down in the 80s, his oxygen is up to 92-94 and his respiration are down to high 20s to low 30 which is much better. God is so good! I am praying this is the day we have big breakthroughs. They are gonna also try to get him back in the vaportherm so please be in prayer that Mike is able to transfer from bypap without his oxygen dropping too low . Overall a pretty good night ! Thank you all love you !
