you probably know better than me.  my source was this website which is pretty robust but may not be current...

    https://ghsfha.org/w/Special:THSFHS/school/records/Maryville

They have 1931 as a 6-6 tie. My records have it as a 6-0 MHS win.  They may have entered it wrong because 1932 on the site and my records was a 6-6 tie.

it seems like the Maryville/Alcoa rivalry has lasted a long time (94 games) with good teams, big crowds and a bit of smack talk.  I think it has been better with alcoa winning a couple (2018, 2022 I think) since it is mostly pretty one sided ( maryville 64 wins, alcoa 26 wins, 4 draws).  but I also think the record probably doesn't do it justice.  my money is on this one.

    I have it at 66-25-3

The DNA in William Blount came mostly from Friendsville High School back in 1978 where football was hit or miss but mainly a miss but basketball saved the school from total humiliation just as it's decendants at WB carry the same torch brought down from one generation to the next. Unfortunately the program was bred like this from the beginning and it has beaten many coaches down that have tried to change it. The last coach (Shad) let the cattle out of the fence and let them run wild  especially during fall break time. It will take a miricale to even get this program back to Friendsville standards which wasn't much. The Union County game will be the one to watch for the Bottom Breeders Cup Award for 2023 I believe.

Friendsville was known for having good looking cheerleaders.

Cleveland I think will be pretty good, but I think we finish 5th. I’ll pick Maryville until proven otherwise so:

    1. Maryville

    2. Bradley

    3. Bearden

    4. Farragut

Since this is a new cycle, we get to smell the chocolate factory two years in a row. I hope they play better this time in the stadium named after one of our former coaches.

The season is just over 10 weeks away and I'm already living rent free in your head.  Keep making up fake accomplishments to feel like the second best team in your own county.  Keep living in the past.  I own you and Oakland owns your team.  Loser.

    You're a weird little man.

I mean, you have to be fair to Bearden. There have been so many star players that have been zoned for Bearden High School but have gone to Farragut, West, Karns, Catholic, and Alcoa, just to name a few recently Thomas Harper Karns,

Thomas Harper (and Devin) were zoned Karns and went to Karns. I worked with mom and dad. Dad was interested in moving them to Maryville and he asked me about MHS at work. Mom didn't want to move. They live about 100 yards from the Bearden zone, but they are across Amherst and the railroad tracks inside the Karns zone.

Talking about the 2 best public schools in the state,. I'd be willing to bet there would be people willing to make a little bit of a drive for that. Maybe we find out in the future

I'll drive the 4 miles to Goddard Field if it's on a Saturday.

But what did the Philadelphia bull orchestrate with his hands? Seems like he used his stick to strum someone else’s fiddle. Man, the parents will do anything to get junior some playing time out in Portville. Gideon Morgan is rolling over in his grave at the debauchery going on at Morganton high.

I grew up in the 37742 and it takes me a few minutes to decipher these coded messages.
