    Didn't we use a college player in '34? The TSSAA didn't like it back then, but we got a cool nickname out of the ordeal.

    We have a new team in Region 2 next year. Not sure if you've heard of them. They are out of the Secret City and go by the name Oak Ridge.

    My alma mater won a National Championship running the flexbone. It's fun to watch when done well.

    Maryville is an Everything School. MHS has won state championships in Football, Basketball and Baseball. I don't think many can say that.

    Where they were throwing the football is close to 426 N. Wright Road, Alcoa. It's close to Cochran Street and Wright Road. It would be considered the Rock Gardens neighborhood of Alcoa. It's right across the road from the South Plant.

    I think Judkins does Maryville College also. He’s a Maryville City Schools teacher.

    Our old grass field was as hard as a rock during the playoffs. It had been used as a football field for over 100 years. There was also a slope towards one end zone. If you can maintain a pristine grass field, that’s the way to go, but we use the heck out of our field.
