  1. Wow...touched a nerve I did? You'd be pleasantly surprised if you met me lifer. And I'm in pretty good standing with the Rebel fans, thanks. Ask any of them.

Now Raider, he's the pit bull. And he's proud of it.

Taking this a little too seriously you are? It'll be ok padawan. B)

Rebel Nation is easy to spot at any Maryville game. He looks just like his picture on the message boards. He doesn't always wear that hat though. And they won't let him bring the stick with the skull on it into the stadium. They are afraid he might put a flag on it.

  2. Wow! After tonights games we sure know alot more about the region. It's not that the GOVS were in a slump it's just the teams they were playing were that good. I knew Maryville and OR were good, but I didn't expect Farragut to be this good. They dominated the Owls. It looks like a showdown between OR and FHS for the #1 seed. I'm going with the home team in that one. Will the Govs get a rematch with Sevier Co. as the #3 seed?

  3. Rebel Nation I find it funny you Blount Co. people bash each other when referring to each other's respective schools but when one of those schools is playing outside the county all of a sudden ya'll love each other.

One thing about it you got one h_ _ l of a team @ Maryville and a great coach in GQ.

Interesting fact the last time McMinn played Heritage up there the official on our side of the field was a member of the Blount Co. school board. Now how does that happen and how can he officiate a game between one of the schools that he represents and a team from a different county. He was professional but he should never call a Blount Co. school football game. Just food for thought....

You're right tribe fan, us Blount County people do stick together. I'd be happy if the Red Rebels, Tornados, and WB were all ranked #1. And there is so much love in Blount Co. we will throw our adopted Single A team, Greenback, in there too.

Now, if we could only find a AAA team.

  4. I was an "Original Governor" at William Blount High School. We went from playing "Single A" football to playing "Triple A" with "Single A" athletes when they consolidated us. We fought hard but we were just overmatched. We managed to win 3 games that first year. We had nice new uniforms and and a big stadium though. The kids are all in school at Maryville now, just to explain the nickname. I can't pull against the Govs though. WB #23.

  5. I was thinking of all the closed schools that were good in Football and even some that were pretty bad. Do you remember these?

    Rule-Golden Bears, Holston-Warriors, Everett-Bulldogs,

    Porter-Panthers, Walland-Indians, Townsend-Tigers,

    Friendsville-Falcons, Lanier-Eagles, Vonore-Blue Devils,

    Madisonville-Golden Tornado(s), Charleston-?,

    South-Young-Trojans

  6. I am still trying to figure out who GovMan "Class of 1980" is. I also was and "Original Governor". Tell me your positon and number and I'll see if I can figure it out. Judging from your other posts you must have been a Falcon before consolidation. I still miss Blount County Single A football. Those All blue uniforms FHS had at the end were really sharp. And when we played Townsend it looked like UT vs UK.

I'm pulling for the Govs but I think the 'Cats will take them. I think they can finish 3rd in the region.

  7. I think he wanted to say Small County not counting Shelby, Davidson, Hamilton or Knox. That way Blount had a shot to be tops. I think he opened a can of worms that didn't go in the direction he was planning.

I think there was a topic a while back that was more in line. It asked were their any other Cities similar to Maryville/Alcoa that have dominated their division?

They do have a unique community where players live across the street from each other in some cases.

"He" as in Me didn't care which way the topic went. The question stands on its own. I just didn't want to take the time to figure out which counties some of these schools are in, in Middle or West TN and do the research myself on the TSSAA website. Public or private big county or small just post your county and your numbers. It is, what it is.

  8. Blount County has 14 State Football Championships since 1969 (The Modern Era)

Maryville has 8 (the 9th was an AP Title in 1964)

    Alcoa has 6

Walland has 1 (Walland was consolidated into Heritage in 1977)

Does anyone know of any county with more than 14 since 1969 (That's when the playoffs started)
