  1. Loved your comments and your apparent love for your team of choice. Although more could have been done in the media to defend that coach, the true rats are apparently bailing off the ship. I think the posts I have been reading are proof of that. ANyone that has an inkling of doubt that the Nance woman didn't contact the media or have it done is brain dead. The picture of her in the DNJ, her babbling mouth strutting around on tv like a banny rooster--she's just out to get attention-- and I don't have a horse in this race. If she was worried about her son and the team this would have happened in August--not the tuesday after her son is kicked off for violating a coach's order--OVER A MONTH LATER!! If it was about her concern for her son and other players she wouldn't have mentioned all of his freshman accomplishements, insinuating that he should be playing. You are right...she needs to take him to a team where there are no rules and players do exactly as they please. I think I know where you are talking about and they are the only team in Rutherford county that's strugglingh more than OHS! From what I hear, this player would fit in fine with the Mimmsmobile--he could step in when loses his heart and gets the cramps or a chest cold and get lots of pt over there. The word I heard in the BORO was that the kicker kid quit after a lackluster performance the friday night before at Franklin CO. and missed two practices in a row. He apparently got into an argument with his coach and threw his equipment on the ground, dropping f-bombs like B-17s over Baghdad. Is this the version that you heard?
  2. You go Riddlers! Soem of these parents and players accusing abuse in August yet they have alloiwed thier sons to continue to play for the man into late September? Anybody else noticing that those complaining are mostly sophmore mommas whose sons are not getting to play for the first time in thier careers? Welcome to 5A football, weenies! Mrs. Nance said it best when she talked about her son's freshman accomplishments--it's all about her son not getting to play--not the team. It's a shame that this has gotten any press whatsoever. As for the few that are complaining, where are all the players and parents that support Ferguson? They were supposedly not allowed to speak to the media, or the media chose not to give thier comments equal time.
  3. I don't think you meant it this way, but Elrod wasn't fired from Cumberland. For what they pay thier coaches, he could have easily stayed and had the job if he had wanted. There is a certain connotation with the word "fired" that leads people to believe that some impropriety has been committted. That was not the case. I do agree with you about the offense that he brought to WC.

  5. It's obvious that you have a WC connection but you may also want to get your facts straight also. Salary was never an issue mentioned in the newspaper or elsewhere (coaching circles, fan talk). Coach Alexander's twin sons were in the hospital during his first season in 2003 if I am not incorrect. Those in the Middle Tn. football "know" know that WC has administration problems (problem to be exact) and that all of the coaches have to fight for the simplest of things. Coach A wasn't the only coach leaving initially. Their basketball coach was leaving also. Alexander was the first coach to stay more than one year in the school's then 4 year history. If something doesn't change in leadership there, Coach A will likely return to sumner county at some point, and they won't be able to give that job to the dogcatcher.
  6. For the record, I do not think that the people posting on here about WC have a WC connection, BIG CHIEF, as you do to RHS. I think for the most part the common connection is that we all happen to be Region 4 fans. I happen to be much closer to R'dale than Gladeville. As for Thesportsreporters, my post made it clear that Lavergne challenged RHS, if you had bothered to read it again it would have become apparent, unlike your contradictory flip-flopped reply. I did "mispeak" once: I meant to say that LC and Lavergne had held RHS in the 20's.
  7. I know this is premature and I am sure that I will draw some angst for suggesting this, but can WC make a serious run for a Region Four Championship? A State title? Riverdale apparently has a few chinks in their armor as evidenced the last couple of weeks against Lavergne and Lincoln COunty as they scored less than 20 points, pitiful for Riverdale. Am I the only person that would like to see Riverdale unseated? Some people are simply tired of them winning it unabated every year, not mention some of the obvious recruiting tactics they have used in the past (ex. parents getting "seperated", is just one of many). WC is likely to be the only team to challenge Riverdale during the regular season. They are big and physical with speed in all of the places they need it and scarcely resemble teams of the past, even last year's playoff team. AT some point in the playoffs, however, they will need to develop a passing game of some sort to take pressure off the run. Thoughts anybody?
  8. I disagree with Cousin Eddie. I feel like there are few fans that would make better coaches. Coaches live football 24/7 365. They put in hours of work when most people are in bed or haven't even got up yet. It tears me up that so many people suddenly become experts in the fall on weekends. I had a veteran coach tell me one time that if you put your stuff up and don't look at it again until time for summer camp that you will never get any better. How many fans watch film every day, like a coach, while everybody else is watching hoops or the Preds?
  9. It will take nothing short of a miracle for siegel to beat Oakland. I have seen siegel play and they are not much better than they were last year (tell you how bad S-field is?). I have seen Oakland play and they are tons better than last year. They have a chance to be 2-0 in the region AND beat siegel all in one fell swop. Oakland would have to have an off night and siegel be on fire for this upset to happen. It is a rivalry game so it still COULD happen. You have to live in Rutherford county to understand why this is a rivalry. In three short years they have developed a bitter hatred for one another! Freedom Stadium will be packed as Watson really sees how good that defensive front is as Cord Cowan has his first 100 game and the Pats win by 28
  10. I don't understand what all the hype is with the Gray kid. Orona's ability to run was more impressive than this kid, grant it, he was a senior. Ironically, Gray's one loss at Smyrna HS was last year as a freshman was to WC and thier fr. squad. Unimpressive and they ran the miami to the left side everytime they ran that play. I know that fres. game doesn't mean squat, but WC is not the new whipping boy of Region 4 anymore like siegel is and Blackman is quickly becoming. I think it will be a good game with a special teams play busting it to a two score game, regardless of Gray. WC by 10.
