  1. Bobcats,

You have a great opportunity to make a good run at the playoffs, first up is Wartburg, who you have already beaten, which really means nothing. (look at their Sunbright game for proof). Each game of the playoffs requires exacution on both sides of the ball, and no turnovers. They should not be taken lightly, then the second round would be North Greene, who has a good team, but, I believe that if you establish your running game, Oz should win. Then the 3rd round showdown with Hampton, who is talented on both sides of the ball, yet, if you guys can peak at the right time, (ground game and through the air, and tighten up in the secondary) a win is possible. Take each game as do or die, give it your all, and great things can happen. Show the rest of the football world just how good you can be!

    Go Bobcats!

  2. Congrats to both teams on a great game. It's easy to underestimate OS given the past performances against good 3A competition, and with Kingston having it's best team in several years, I too thought this would be more one sided. I will be pulling for OS to have a great year, and keeping a close eye on this Jackets team since we play them later on....bandit.gif

Your right about the past performances, given that OZ played 1A ball in every sport except football for all of those years, the realignment has them playing where they should have been all along. With that said, OZ has made the playoffs the last two years and returns key skill position players this year and should make a run for the playoffs again this year. They had Kingston down 31-14 at one point, but, couldn't put the game away when given the chance. Good Luck to Kingston and CAK, I've heard that CAK has the real deal playing QB this year, not like that's anything new. LOL

  3. Jaylin Henderson , Kevin Steen , and Kyler Jones were three of them. Coach Blade is making them run extra after practice to catch up , and they've been told that if they can hang tough through the Farragut game then they're back on the team in good standing. I think this is great news for the Wildcats!

I heard Blade is going to let them play JV ball and go from there, I wouldn't have a problem if the team had a say so in them returning to the team. Let them vote if they want them to join or not. Look at this way, they skip out on the spring practices, they don't participate in the summer work outs, and they don't take part in the "two-a-days, then when it appears that Oak Ridge might have a special team this year, they want to play again. I'm not saying they shouldn't get the chance, but, they should be held to a higher standard to make it out on the playing field.

  4. I agree with you on that but we got lucky Kingston was going play Cumberland Co that week and CCHS called and asked if it was ok to drop the game so they could pick Bledsoe Co up that week so Vic called Brackett and got the game setup. On the Rockwood issue I was told Coach Webb was still upset how OS drop Rockwood 2 years ago and told Brackett no when he called this year. Coach Tapp at Harriman for some reason will not play OS

OZ did not drop Rockwood 2 years ago, Rockwood wanted to move the game to week 0 or week one, and OZ could not accomodate those changes, so the game was dropped from the schedule. Jet, you can keep posting in error about this and I will correct you everytime. Coach Brackett has tried to schedule Harriman since the first year he arrived at OZ, but Coach Trapp will not do it, you can draw your own conclusion as to why. If my memory serves me well, Rockwood wanted OZ last year and Rockwood got them, and it ended their season! :thumb:

  5. This is an excerpt from the Oak Ridger article when he was hired:

After what has been called an extremely competitive selection process with over 33 applicants, Oak Ridge High School has named Barry Wortman as the Head Coach of the Wildcats' Boys Basketball program.

Wortman comes to Oak Ridge from his role as Associate Head Coach of Basketball at Morehead State University where he has served since 2006.Wortman brings a wealth of experience to the job, having been a head coach at the high school level at La Vergne High School ('98-'06), Lincoln County High School ('97-'98), Hickman County High School ('93-'97), and Shelbyville High School ('91-'93). While at Shelbyville, Wortman won a region championship and District Tournament Championship twice, and advanced to the Regional Semi-finals twice.

Over the span of Wortman's career, his other accomplishments include: AA State championship with a #9 national ranking ('97); OVC championship and opening round victory in NCAA ('09); District 9 Coach of the Year ('95, '96, '97, '04); Daily News Journal Coach of the Year ('04); Nashville Banner Coach of the Year ('97); Nashville Tennessean Coach of the Year ('97); AP Writers Coach of the Year ('97); TACA Coach of the Year ( '95, '97).

The only thing that you left out (and the most important) is that Wortman was/is good friends with the then girls coach Jill Prudden. She went to bat for Wortman during the interview process.

  6. I blame both coaches for this. Tresevants coach should have sat them boys down who were cheap shotting. Greeneville's coach should have taken his starters out when the game was getting out of hand.

Blame Both Coaches???? OMG, had this been done against Maryville, you would be calling for heads to roll!!! What a hypocritical post!!! <_<

  7. I can understand losing quality players to graduation, but, you would think a school the size of OZ, could still win a few games given they play a 1A schedule. It makes you wonder if some of the talent is walking the halls instead of playing basketball for some reason.

  8. My mistake has been trying to treat you as though you're different from bladerunner.... but you're not , you're just a common troll like him . btw , no one from Maryville needs your advice , so you can quit trolling our threads now .

Did it hurt your poo poo watching Maryville win it all ?

Actually No, I'm pretty sure that I have congratulated Maryville in numerous posts on winning the 6A Championship.

You responded to my post that wasn't EVEN about YOU or directed at YOU, yet you call me the TROLL?

I know you'll have a problem understanding this, but, CoachT is a PUBLIC Blog Site, any and everyone has the right to post where they choose.

  9. Packer is poor. Fair has potential. Perhaps they could put Murphy Fair in the booth. Austin Price interviewing the kid who got the concussion, and trued to "mike up" coaches on the sideline was weak.

Packer is terrible, HTV, while I'll give Packer his due for stepping up and promoting high school football in the area, that does not automatically make him a good announcer. His play calling on his Thurday night games are terrible at best. Most of his comments and jatter isn't even about the game or the current play taking place on the field. I'm not saying he is a terrible person, but, he would greatly increase his product by stepping behind the microphone and letting someone else handle that duty.

  10. I am not a hater my friend but a person of facts.

1st I agree it takes two to make a pair and secondly until Maryville got out of the way in 4A Greenville did not even get a sniff of a gold ball. Check the last few times GHS got west of Morristown in previous years.

Enjoy being a state championship winner but there might have been two teams here in Blount Co who would have cleaned Greenvilles plow this year.

Your right FBE, your not a hater, your a hypocrite! Mention Maryville or Alcoa in any thread (in a good way or bad), and all heck breaks loose, and the most common reply is that everybody "HATES" Maryville or Alcoa, and it's your job to defend them, all your really doing is feeding the trolls, but that's another topic for another thread.

And all of the replys talking about "imaginary games or losses" for Maryville or Alcoa, yet you post about an imaginary win vs Greeneville for Alcoa and Maryville.

Why do have you such a hard time letting Greeneville or anybody else enjoy their success and championships, and don't tell me your tired of some of their posters, let em enjoy their time, you bashing them just makes Maryville look bad. And Lord knows we on CoachT have had to endure multiple posts concerning Alcoa and Maryville over the years! :roflol: It goes with the territory when you have success!

I say.... Congrats to Maryville, Alcoa, Webb and Greeneville!!!

  11. Lots of people don't like Maryville. Now that "The Program" has proven it can play with the "Big Boys" many are frustrated. Maryville lost last year in the State game and it was not enough for them. I guess those kind of posters won't be happy until Maryville is like 4-6 or something. Doubt that will happen anytime soon. The fans and program are easy targets for hate on these type of boards. And yes the thread should have stayed on subject, Maryville over Smyrna in a close one. Could have gone ether way IMHO. I do think the best team won but Smyrna has nothing to hang thier heads about. They had a great season.

Clearly two of the best teams in the state. It was a good game and one for the books.

Man, you really need to get a life, the thread was closed because of a Maryville parent going off the deep end. If everyone "loved" your rebels, then what in the world would you post about then? :roflol:

Congrats to Maryville on another Championship!!

  12. I understand that you stated this is your opinion and everyone has to respect that. But, like I said earlier, people dont understand how good Alcoa and Maryville's defenses are! Greeneville might not have scored as many as Smyrna did on Maryville for the whole game. Maryville played a sub-par game(still won) and Smyrna is nationally ranked with a tailback that is committed to D-1 Pittsburgh. In my opinion and by looking at the schedules played and watching the teams play...Greeneville is at best 4th and probably at best 5th on this list. As far as #6 goes, CAK would beat South Pitt, Oak Ridge, and Columbia even on their field this year. I dont see South Pitt or Oak Ridge being in the state top 10 even! Both are good teams, just not as far as all classes go!

We're not going to agree and that's OK, but. I did see Maryville play three times, and Alcoa three times, CAK twice and Greenevile once. Alcoa and Maryville had a good defense, but it was the offense of both teams that made them special. I am not ALL KNOWING when it comes to football, but, I do know a little, and have been told so, by players and parents. With that said, I don't agree, Greeneville had a very talented offense, I don't care who was on their schedule, and I don't think you can penalize their talent on offense because of their schedule, and they did set a new state record for points scored in a season to boot. Not only that, but, they had pretty good overall team speed on the defensive side of the ball too! And after seeing CAK play twice and looking at their schedule, I think you have them rated too high, I think there is a handfull of 5-A and 6-A teams across the state who would beat them.

  13. 1. Alcoa

    2. Maryville

    3. Smyrna

    4. Blackman

    5. Greeneville

    6. CAK

I believe 5 and 6 could be a good game and might be flip flopped. That should be a pretty good top 6 in the state regardless of classes.

I don't see it that way.

    1. Alcoa (did everything to deserve the #1 spot)

    2. Maryville (may not be the best Maryville team ever, yet won a 6A Championship)

    3. Greeneville (IMO given the same situation as Smyrna in the championship game, I think they would have outscored maryville in the second half, due to the injury to the QB) Smyrna held Maryville to 2 points in the second half and still lost.

    4. Smyrna or Blackman

    5. Blackman or Smyrna

    6. I think alot of teams could go here, but, I can't see it being CAK alone, South Pitt, Oak Ridge, Columbia just to name a few could be ranked here IMO.

  14. No it's an over inflated ego thing.. (his)

I've known the Reveiz family for years, Nick has never struck me as having an inflated ego. Was your opinion based on one meeting, and how he conducts interviews?

It sounds like your assuming an awfull lot on just a little amount of facts.

Kinda like when someone would assume that just because you see someone sitting at the bar in Outback all of the time, then you assume that person must be an alcoholic.

  15. Columbia could beat snot out of all of them...the Chattanooga area is as much middle as east

You must have skipped geography and history class, the Chattanooga area is considered part of east tennessee. Don't believe me, look it up, Official Tennessee web site or on wikipedia. Columbia would not beat Greeneville, Alcoa, or Maryville!
