  1. You guys sure do sound confident since you lost to Lebanon 12-6 earlier in the season. Was there a development that happended before that game as well that effected Coffee Co.'s mindset? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  2. Hey David! When will you have the when and where's of the district tourney? Also the brackets? Thanks for all the up to date rankings and posts! You da man!
  3. I'm not a Cookeville person buddy. I'm a Lebanon one. I haven't been to a home game in a while but that is the way they were when I was there and when I played there as well. Not trying to make you mad just asking if things have changed. Parents were more worried about their kid going to college to play rather than the team as a whole at that time. i do have to say that Coach Slone has promoted and gotten more boys into college ball than any coach that I've known to coach at LHS since 80's up. I already knew you had a great coach and some talent but just wondered if the parents have finally found some team unity instead of what you stated before.
  4. Hey Bombs! Are the parents still sitting in clicks at the LHS games? They always use to be two separate groups that sat in lawn chairs, one that sat in the blue bleachers, and some sat in the small bleechers. They didn't mix much. Kinda like what you stated above. The record is much better so I thought the parents have finally gotten it together over there and have helped create a team atmosphere. They already had a great coach they just needed to back him to get that special chemistry going. Loyalty, Chemistry, Unity, and the sense of a true team from the starter to the bull pen catcher is something that comes from so much more than just a good coach- parents play a key role more than they know. Anyways I sure hope that those clicks are long gone! Coaches have enough to worry about in the dugouts and on the field of play than to worry about crap in the stands.
  5. Shoot! He better worry b/c that is why the last quality coach left you guys. That's the problem with high school sports. Parents get way too envolved, instead of being there to help, they try to coach. All is well for a coach until they start losing. Win you're a genious. Lose and you're the village idiot. It is very easy to say what you would do after a game is over. Plus this isn't college or the pros where the coaches are getting paid more than the president. So cut coaches a break! Most high school coaches get paid something like .01 an hour when you add up all the time they put in to coaching the kids. Plus not to mention the time they sacrifice from their own families to spend time coaching your kids for that amazing pay! They give up a lot to spend time with your kids. The least you could do is support them come heck or high water but that just isn't the way it is anymore. Win you stay for a while and lose and it is time for you to find a new job. Let's put this into perspective for parents that like to size up coaches jobs. That's fine and dandy as long as you return that favor and let the coach come to your place of work and let him follow you around and then at the end of the day tell you his opinion of what you did wrong and what you could have done better. This is about the same thing and i don't think anyone would want a monkey on their shoulder while they are at work. If you want a job coaching that is great! Go back to college and get a bs in education, or just apply for a high school coaching job, or go try your hand at the local babe ruth league! Wait a minute......That is where most of these dad critics come from.....The local Babe Ruth League......I stand corrected anyone who coaches Babe Ruth has every right to criticize a high school coach!!!!!!!! Babe Ruth Coaches are baseball GURU'S!!!!!!!!! Seriously! lay off the coaches and teach your sons and daughters to be team players no matter winning or losing. That way they'll be more productive citizens one day. heck it's just a game, let the coachs coach and the kids PLAY.
  6. Coach Slone is doing a great job! Keep it up old man! To win you must have good coaches, decent talent, a team that plays as a team, good parent support- no matter if lil' Johnny starts or not, and get the lucky breaks. I know you have good coaches, decent talent as for the rest if you have it you guys should do great things this year. I'm not trying to make parents mad I just have not been around enough to see if he has good parent support this year or not. I hope the parents are united and sit together instead of the old days when some sat in the bleachers, some sat in the small bleachers by the old home dug out, and the rest were scattered out in lawn chairs. If you guys get behind your coaches and the players that start you guys will go far. I hope you guys win out! Good luck Blue!
  7. One of the funniest quotes of the g-man that year "you may not be a very good team but you're fun to watch". I remember sitting there thinking WHAT!!! One other funny memory was of S. Jones. Crusty's dad. He helped some during our summer ball games. He came out wearing a two button jersey. The two buttons were undone and had a chei pet growing out of his jersey. He had on a pair of what looked to be babe ruth league pants 2-3 sizes too small. He looked like he was trying out for the nut cracker. He had black dress socks on and dress shoes. We all died laughing at him and he said in his gruff voice "yall shut the heck up". That was great!!!! Wish you could have seen that one!
  8. Yup! I was in that smoking new van! We never quite got to that line on the locker wall. I didn't have any stinkin gutz bout me!
  9. Yeah that's true. He was a good one too. I don't remember when Adcock grad. You'd know better than me. I'd bet on either Adcock or Allison to have beat them atleast once a piece. I'd take the field with either one of those kids.
  10. That would have been Brent Adcock. He was a great pitcher.
  11. I wonder if Coach B or if Cach Hunt got a w against them. If not then this win was like Navy's win over Notre Dame. Good win for LHS. I was on the '96 squad that started the losing streak. I remember it well. They went nuts when they beat us. I believe that was Powers 1st or second year. Coach G. was our coach that year. He took over after Coach Martin took a job at his old almamater in KY.
  12. You know it's funny how parents and spectators are quick to turn on high school coaches. They don't get paid what college coachs get paid but they face the same pressures. When you take their pay and the hours they put in it averages out to under .50 cents un hour in some cases even less than that. On top of that many sacrifice family life. For the coaches that have kids their time that they could be playing or watching their kids grow up they are spending that time with your kids and putting up with complaints of how they could be doing things better. Knowing these facts would any of you gripers like to take their place. Probably not! Would you be willing to give up family time to deal with the likes of you? Probably not! How about this? You let the coach come to your job and follow you around and critique evrything he believes you are doing wrong and telling you how to do it better. Then at the end of the day he posts on a website how terrible you are and that you need to be fired. Or better yet he makes an appointment with your boss and tells him that you need to go. That would be fair wouldn't it?
  13. bobbob you're no fun man! You are in the wrong thread. Here let me help you out. The thread you are looking for is- "MY SON MADE THE BABE RUTH ALL STAR TEAM & DIDN'T MAKE THE HIGH SCHOOL TEAM, THAT'S JACKED UP!" or "My kid is being recruited by every school in the county but he doesn't start for yours, I mean what's the deal I keep his stats and he bats 350 in the local BABE RUTH league!" or "I ordered a weiner and got wings w/o the sauce, what the heck!" or "MY SON THROWS HARDER THAN YOUR SON!" or "MY KID HITS 350 OFF THE BABE RUTH LEAGUE IRON MIKE!" or even "MY FUNGO IS LONGER THAN YOURS!" There are many more that might suit you. Hope that helps! Plus there's no crying in baseball!
  14. Yeah! I don't think Hellen Keller's dog could help help RIVERDALEMAN!
