  1. Whooooa! Not so fast! Alcoa has to get by a tough Loudon team first. It could be the first time since they played McCallie that they're really tested. BLOW 'EM AWAY, BIG A!!!!
  2. I went back and checked the Alcoa/CAK thread...didn't see you had posted following VA-Tornado's post. Check out this link for the former SEC commissioner's opinion: Former Southeastern Conference Commissioner Roy Kramer doesn't think that Coach Reid did anything wrong. http://www.thedailytimes.com/sited/story/html/222421 Also, here's something else for you to look at where G-P's principal commented: http://www.blounttoday.com/blnt/home/artic...4225014,00.html I see the Loudon/Alcoa game being closer this time, but Alcoa still wins by 2 touchdowns. Alcoa actually wasn't at their best last night (not to take anything away from CAK, they were actually played a lot better against Alcoa than the 1st time they played); I think they'll have hard practices this week and get it done on Friday.
  3. Alcoa is not hugely confident, and they are overlooking noone. They're ready to get out there and do their job.
  4. As an employee, I can say that Knox really messed up consolidating. The school system is way too big, too many chiefs, nobody knows what anyone else is doing. Each school runs the way it thinks it should. It's a mess!
  5. You're very right! Alcoa isn't taking anything for granted, that's for sure!
  6. Now THAT's a great post! And, good luck to Murvul on Friday.
  7. You know, the funny thing is, a lot of people are harping on this...There is very little (if any) talk about this in the community out of respect for G-P. The coaches and players are looking forward to the CAK game....everybody here should be, too. Put it to rest. Alcoa: 55 CAK: 14
  8. Sorry, FBE, I re-read your post about 3 times, and still didn't see CAK mentioned at all. Just Alcoa and Loudon. I'm sure you'll point out if you talked about the CAK game at all!
  9. Thanks for your input. It's good to hear from someone new. Unfortunately I have no clue as to what you're talking about with the coach saying something to the player. I'm assuming that happened under a different head coach. That was disturbing to hear, and that is lack of class. I would say more about the past, but this thread is Alcoa vs. CAK, so (I'm sure many will be glad to hear this!) I'll keep it to myself! (LOL) I'm sure many people are pulling for CAK on this one, just like many people pull for the underdog in any contest. The AHS seniors worked hard to get where they are now, and have gone through a couple of tough seasons, so they know what it's like to lose. CAK has done well to be in their 1st season in our Region, so hats off to them. May the best team win!
  10. You're right, you don't have to explain yourself. In the past I've enjoyed reading your posts; you seem to be pretty intelligent and know what you're talking about. However, this thread is about the Alcoa/CAK game, yet people want to look ahead to the next week. One week at a time, buddy!
  11. Sorry, didn't mean to get on your nerves! I've put the post up several times because obviously people aren't getting it. I only put it up on the other thread 1 time. And, I've added different things as well. I'm trying to move on, but people won't get over Friday's game and talk about CAK. I'm getting pretty sick and tired of it. Talk about beating a dead horse!
  12. Fair enough. You have to take up for your team when they're being talked about. I just wish people would comment on the subject of the thread! I still pick Loudon over OS 21-18.
  13. Check the subject of the thread: ALCOA VS CAK I've said it before, and I'll say it again (and again and again!): For those of you talking about Alcoa's lack of class, here's classless: Booing when G-P made their touchdown (didn't happen) Insisting that the full 4 quarters be played (didn't happen) Keeping the starters in for the entire 1st half (didn't happen) Going for the "big plays" with the 2nd and 3rd, and 4th string (didn't happen) Chanting at the opposing team "Over-rated" (didn't happen....wait, that happened to Alcoa during it's only loss. Hmmm...wonder whose fans did that?????) If you had actually been at the game, you would've seen the fans shaking their heads in disbelief that they paid $7 to watch practice. Excitement? None after Alcoa's 2nd offensive series. You would've seen a bunch of parents happy that their sons got some playing time and got to do what they had been trained to do in practice. No disrespect to G-P; they were just out played and out manned. I admire G-P for not laying down or quitting after half-time. FBE: Stay on your Murvul thread...this is about Alcoa and CAK
  14. Here's a question for you: Just out of curiosity: Why will some of ya'll go onto Alcoa's thread and start talking about Loudon vs. Alcoa (prematurely), but you're not doing it here? You're not intimidating anybody from Alcoa by doing that; in fact, you're going to be adding fuel to the fire if the 2 meet again in a couple of weeks. I think OS will make this game a lot closer than they did last time. They're coming off of a big win, and will take that momentum into the Loudon game. Loudon will probably still win, but I think they're going to make it a game. I'd love to see the upset, but then again, I missed the first Loudon/Alcoa game, so I'd like to see the rematch. My prediction: Loudon 21 OS 18
  15. THANK YOU!!! This is ridiculous; it's getting to be as bad as MURVUL people coming in our thread to make trouble. However, I have to disagree with you on one point: Alcoa is too good and too strong. They've just gotten better during the season, and are better now than the regular season (especially the early part of the season). I still say: Alcoa 55 CAK 14 BLOW 'EM AWAY, BIG A!!!
  16. Okay, Friday's over...on to this Friday's game: Alcoa: 55 CAK: 14 BLOW 'EM AWAY, BIG A!!!
  17. I have to admit, I did get quite a chuckle from this post! Loudon is good, but, Loudon's defense is no Maryville by any stretch of the imagination! Thanks for the laugh!!! Now, this thread is Alcoa vs. CAK; not Alcoa vs. Loudon, or "Can Loudon's defense be compared to Maryville's D?" Can we stay on topic, please???? I'd love for "newschoolredskinfan" to start that thread on the 4-A site.... Hopefully we'll have a new thread next week: Alcoa vs. Loudon, then you can assume all you want. Loudon has to get by Oliver Springs and Alcoa has to get by CAK. Let's not take anything for granted here, people! BLOW 'EM AWAY BIG A!!!!
  18. Okay, yesterday's over...on to Friday's game: Alcoa: 55 CAK: 14 BLOW 'EM AWAY, BIG A!!!

  20. Yes, Alcoa loses something like 7 starters, but watch out for the sophmore and junior classes. There's definitely some talent there. Next year's team may not be as good as this year's, but they're still going to be a force to be reckoned with. You may have to look 3-4 years down the road for that payback (I hope!). Will next year's team be as good as this year's? No, probably not. Will they still be good? They should be. And, if you'll look at the replay of the game, the starters only scored around 45 points last night; the reserves scored the other 46.
  21. Here, here! I'd like to know what the boys should've done when the ball was just handed to the defense 5-10 yard from the goal line. Even if they had taken a knee, they still would have scored without much effort. My heart goes out to G-P. Those boys never did quit. Just out of curiosity, what does an opposing coach who is down 70-0 say to his players at halftime? They could've had the final score 70-0 if they had just gotten on the bus at halftime. If that had happened, what would everybody be saying then? That G-P had no class, that they laid down and died for Alcoa? The Alcoa boys (every single one of them) played their hearts out. Isn't this what you're suppose to do in the playoffs? Reid played everybody but the band and the trainers, and he would've played them if he could have. I agree, you can't tell those young guys to get out there and take a knee; that would be more embarrassing to an opposing team. All of those guys (on both sides) are athletes, and athletes are trained to get out there and give it your all, win or lose. I've never seen a football game that had 91 points scored. If you had seen the game, you'd see that after Alcoa put up 40 points, they really didn't try to make the big plays, they just got out there and did what they're trained to do. They tried to run the clock down, but G-P kept letting them score. Like I said, my heart goes out to G-P, and they have my respect for not laying down. G-P is just in an extremely weak district (this should be obvious by Oliver Springs beating their #1), and it's no fault of their own. Hopefully District 1 will get tougher schedules so they can compete with district 2.
  22. Tuition students are those students who live outside the city limits (and therefore don't pay city taxes) but choose to pay $400/year (quite a bargain!) for their children to attend Alcoa City Schools. In Blount Co., you have 3 school systems: Alcoa City, Maryville City, and Blount County. If you live within Alcoa City limits (and therefore pay city and county taxes), your child can go to the city school or a county school. If you live in the county (and only pay county taxes), your child can only go to a county school, but if you want your child to go to a city school, you can pay tuition. I understand that Maryville is so overcrowded that they are not taking any more tuition students and haven't for a few years. Their tuition was around $1200 from what I was told. One of the Alcoa School Board Members said that Alcoa is not maxed out and can hold up to 500 students. I don't believe Alcoa High School has hit the 400 mark yet. I think they're at around 375, but the middle school is overcrowded, so I would expect that the student enrollment will increase at the high school in a few years. Hope that answers your question. I don't know how you could have a "magnet school" when there's only 1 high school in the school system. There's also only 1 elementary and 1 middle school. The whole school system only has around 1700 students in it, give or take 50 or so. If you look at the starters, there are only a couple of tuition students. In looking at the entire football team, a lot of the tuition students are children of alumni. Alcoa is a proud school with a truly family atmosphere because so many of the students' parents went to school together, and, with the school being so small, everybody knows everybody else. Again, I hope that answers your question.
  23. Here's something I've been wanting to ask someone: Are the supporters of the ban from Blount Co.; specifically Maryville?
