  1. Not a Moon Pie. I may have been born and raised in Chatt where Moon Pies are made, but I don't like them. My husband did some work at the plant, electrical repairs, and came home with a variety of sizes and flavors. The original is bad enough, but Banana and Strawberry..... Now Peanut Butter cups, Wal-marts brand the little ones in the bag. That's more like it!!!
  2. Senior night is a challenge for all. Our parents did well tonight. We all kept it together to support our girls that were sobbing by the time the last girl was presented. They all had written good memories and comments about each other that was shared with the audience. They have been a good group of girls that have learned to love each other as they learned to paly the game of volleyball. So congrats to the HS careers of Deb, Sarah, Jess, Caity, Caylan and Amy. You have represented Grace Lady Golden Eagle Volleyball well. Good luck and may God Bless you in the post-season. Also, thanks to Walker Valley for giving us an exciting match tonight. They played well and gave our girls a good match. Glad you were there. Thanks!! (Grace won 3-0, but it was a good match)
  3. Thank you!! I will tell her, she will appreciate that. Quote from Bruiserengineer: The GPS family also prays for a quick recovery. Grace has a very talented team that will be a big factor in the A/AA playoff picture. Thank you as well BE. That is our hope and dream, to make it to the Big Dance!!
  4. She is a stubborn one, that one is. She has a goal to play on Senior night if not before. Oct. 5th is Senior night. That will be two and a half weeks since the injury. She is very determined. Who knows, Mind over Matter!?! We are hoping and praying for a quick recovery. Not much season left. Miracles still happen!!
  5. Grace Academy won the Varsity division Championship. They only lost one game on the day in early pool play to PJPII, the rest of their matches were won in two games. The team played well for the day and defeated Goodpasture for the Championship. The team is becoming stronger and some of the girls on varsity that aren't starters and a couple of JV players were used in the tournament yesterday to build their experience. They are meeting the challenge to play hard as they are down a key starter for now. But, she will be back soon. Very determined and working hard to be back on the court. http://www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_93405.asp
  6. That is what our girls wear. Christian school, so no spandex. They have asked for the last couple of seasons, but the answer is still no. So the uniform is a mesh sofee short but they aren't to the knee. So, as was already mentioned, they can be immodest, especially when they stretch before warm ups. My daughter always wore spandex under her shorts and then most of the other girsl followed her lead. We had a parnet/teacher comment about the shorts one day when the girls were stretching and I told her, that is why they need to wear spandex. And, it also reduces floor burns on the upper legs. But, they don't have to be extremely short. I have seen players that wear them too short. You can get them long enough to be modest and in a size to where they are not extra tight.
  7. Grace won the Hixon tournament today with no losses. They played Bledsoe, Sale Creek and Rhea Co. in pool play, defeating each team is two. They faced Walker Valley first in the gold bracket, also winning that match in two. Then played Hixon for the championship, defeating them in two games as well. 8. I will correct my post. I said that we totally lead in the fifth game of the match. After reading the Chattanoogan article I realized that I was mistaken. Boyd did pull ahead at on point, 6-4, before Grace took control of the fifth game to finish the match.
  9. Grace and Boyd had their first match of the season tonight. They had met at Gallaitn in the pre-season with Grace defeating the younger Boyd team, a team that had to rebuild from losing several Seniors from last season. It was a great match between the rival teams. Grace won the first two games, with the first game being a fairly easy win. But Boyd was not going to give up without a fight and battled to rattle the Lady Eagles in the third game. Grace started to pull it together again in the forth game with a narrow loss of 25-23. The fifth game had a determined Grace team that lead throughout the game to take the match 3-2. Both teams played some great volleyball!! http://www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_92651.asp
  10. Exciting night at East Ridge last night!! Our girls played well for the most part. It was a good learning experience, something to build on. http://www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_91959.asp
  11. Ms Lyons is doing well. Ms Foster had 10 kills from the outside. Ms Dilts had 8 kills as well. It helps to have good setters!! The setters have alot of experience. Especially the blonde one. I am a little partial to her!! OH!! Schedule will be posted this weekend, promise.
  12. The Lady Golden Eagles win over Hixon tonight in three games. Grace remains undefeated for the opening week of the season with three wins, one of them being a district win (21st Century). Grace 3 - Hixon 0 25-13 25-23 25-12
  13. Grace Lady Golden Eagles won over Soddy Daisy in their season opener this evening, 3-0. (25-16, 25-9, 25-18). The first game was fairly even at first and then Grace pulled ahead. The Eagles had a slow start to game three but found their rhythm to finish off the match. Go Grace.
  14. Sounds like fun. But, a word of caution. If you are part of the TSSAA you better check the rules if any of your HS girls are playing. Even for a fund raiser. We had a little situation last year with a player on our team that was playing at the YMCA during season and to make a long story short...She was in violation of the TSSAA rules. We were not aware and it was a hard time for our team. All worked out in time for District palyoffs. So just make sure it is OK.
  15. Tuesday results: Boyd def CSAS 3-0 Tellico def Temple 3-2 Grace def Polk 3-0 Sequoyah def Silverdale 3-1 Thursday matches: Boyd vs Tellico @ 4:30 Grace vs Sequoyah @ 6:00 Then the winners of each match play for the district title.
