  1. Well i would like to throw in my two cents here if its alright with everyone. The Mr. and Miss Bowling awards are a great addition to the already bundle of excitement we all know as the State Tournament. I feel that the award is based pretty fairly. I am unbiased at all die to the fact I never had a chance to receive the award and i have seen those who have won the award and to this date I haven't questioned any of the outcomes. No matter what bowler is selected for the award there will always be people who think someone else is better. If that person is voted for the award everyone needs to be respectful and congratulate that person. The top 3 candidates obviously were the best 3 to receive the award or they wouldnt be there to begin with. I have talked to several coaches around the midstate and not a single coach has disagreed with the choices or the system in which the award is given out. Instead of disgracing the award with rude comments about those who are governing it and those who receive it, step back and look at this with a positive attitude. Each year one lucky bowler gets to feel special. They get the respect of everyone in the room as they stand on stage and get rewarded for their accomplishments and their hardwork. Whether you disagree with it or not just accept that fact that it is what it is. Lets not disrespect anyone else who has anything to do with this award and lets just congrate those who have won and those who will win this award. Bowling has come a long way in the last 10 years in this state so lets keep it moving forward. Thanks, Kyle Barnes
  2. OK Commando i agree and like i have said previously i believe Daniel is one of the best to come out of the state without a doubt. Yes he bowled very well collegiately at VINCENNES in which he helped win Two Jr Collegiate Championships. When he bowled at UTC he was not ranked in the top 5 in the country. He bowled very well at a few tournies that year. He had too many other responsibilities with the team for him to be able to focus fully on bowling. I am not bashing Daniel he is a great friend of mine and we bowl tournaments all over but he was not ranked in the Top 5 in the nation at UTC. Just saying. As for myself, not bragging just stating, my sophmore year i was ranked 4th in average in the country and was a first team all american. Just to answer your question on how high i was ranked.
  3. I agree with Daniel...for the rest...Travis is pretty solid....i look at the whole spectrum of their bowling accomplishments. Not just high school but outside of that. Daniel is one of the few bowlers who attempted to bowl for a college and he bowled exceptionally well at Vincennes and then at UTC.
  4. Mark im pretty sure that is the highest I have heard of. I know there have not been many in the state at all and the highest i remember having or having heard of was 8teen for me and i remember DJ Chaffin shooting like 820 or 830 so as far as i know JR is the highest. Pretty nasty block...amazing what happens when someone gets really dialed in...kinda like all league season for you huh mark haha
  5. Ok but I dont consider bowling to be leagues or city and state tournaments. Those are all house pattern tournaments. When I think of the words "Great Bowlers" i think of guys that bowl on tough sport patterns and always rise to the top. Don't get me wrong I am not disrespecting anyone by any means but bowling on house patterns do not prove anything to me. I didnt like them in highschool and i completely hate them now. House patterns are like adult bumper bowling for the experienced bowlers. If I were to choose a team i would want the guys who bowl sport patterns all day because those are the real bowlers. Not knocking Chris Mass at all because i have seen him bowl sport and he does get it done but thats where you see who is a real bowler.
  6. Hmm ok well dont get me wrong chris massengale is a great bowler but hwo has he done collegiately? Hmm i believe that all around Daniel is the best player. He is leading points in the Bowlers Advantage tournaments which is bowled on noting but kegel challenge patterns. Not only that but he has done very well in regionals around the area. League is fine and all but your maxed out on competition at the league level. Collegiate bowling is 10 times more competitive and challenging than any league or tournament around the Tennessee area. I believe that is a lot more important than league bowling.
  7. Better than Daniel? I don't think so. Look at everything Daniel has done. The 300s and 800s are great don't get me wrong but sport bowling is BOWLING. Daniel competed collegiately for a great school and bowled well. How many high school bowlers from TN have even competed collegiately much less compete with those guys?
  8. nah man im just decent. Im your everyday house bowler lol
  9. Nah lol its kyle barnes. I'm just being honest. Lol he is a classy guy and that's what I believe lol
  10. ok so im just gonna throw my two cents in lol. i believe that when trying to find the best high school bowlers you must look at their accomplishments not only in high school bowling but after high school and also the other tournaments besides high school. When you define the word best, that means that person shows skill, passion, and leadership throughout their bowling careers. I think this topic is interesting because it lets everyone give their input on who they feel is the best to come out of the state. If you want my own opinion, i believe Daniel Hannagan. Why you ask? Daniel has more passion for the game than anyone I have met. He has faced injury and still was victorious. He went to college and bowled for Vincennes and also helped get a collegiate program started at UTC. Not only is he a great competitor but he is also a great coach and mentor. Daniel exemplifies what the best from our state should be. Thats the best high school bowler to come out of Tennessee.
  11. I totally agree with coach Ransom on this one. Obviously being in college now has made me think a little more about the high school tournament and i have compared them to the collegiate tournaments i have been to over the last 3 years. Every year there is the Intercollegiate Singles Championship and in order to qualify for this tournament you must place in the top 4 at the sectional in which your bowling. This format has seemed to work exceptionally well and has proved to be the answer to the problem. I feel that the TSSAA should extend the season only by a weekend and let the singles qualifying round be done on a weekend. Granted I understand the bowling centers around the area may not be too leniant on the idea but if it is approached in the right direction with each proprietor, I believe there can be an agreement reached to make the singles portion of the tournament more fair to everyone involved. Also with High School bowling becoming the foundation for collegiate bowling, I believe that the qualifying should be done on a sport shot. Yes some kids do not see sport shots at all, but the sport of bowling is turning to these tougher shots i.e. PBA experience leagues, Jr. Gold, USBC Collegiate. There should be just one set pattern that each bowling center will put out for qualifying so everyone is on the same page. Just my thoughts on the whole situation. Sitting at school being bored out of your mind will do this to you /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Good Luck to all... GO SMYRNA!!!!!!! 14. Wow dude i mean really? Really? Hold on a sec... Really? Ok ive had enough man u know sitting on here and hating on someone like this is absolutely uncalled for and extremely ridiculous. What has possessed you to say those things about Michael like that? You are a really cool guy. I wanna congratulate you on being the most mature guy in the world. How about you shut up because honestly, just liek everyone else on this forum, I am getting tired of you running your mouth about Michael seriously. Are you bowling in the tournament right now? How old are you again? How about you actually think about what you are saying before you say it. I am ashamed that you graduated the same year I did because you are being extremely immature right now. Id take Michael any day of the week because he has proved himself day in and day out with his skills on the lane. Cut the trash talking and realize that Michael was a force to be reckoned with no matter the outcome tmrw. Congratulations again Michael. Good job Brandon you know that you have 3 more years. Good luck to all the teams for the rest of the tournament.
