This is a reminder about the Southern Champions Wrestling Camp. There will be two camps this year. First camp in held at Houston High School (Germantown, TN) June 9, 10 and 11. Second camp will be held at Montgomery Bell Academy (Nashville, TN) June 16, 17 and 18. Great instructors at each camp: David James- (Univ. of Central Oklahoma) One of the finest instructors around the country has coached 12 National Champion Teams and 45 Individual National Champions. Seven time winner of National Coach of the Year. Memphis Camp only. Walt Holmes-MC&NC- (Houston HS) Coached state and national Champions. An excellent clinician, Member of HOF. Both camps. Patrick Simpson -MC&NC- (MBA) 4 X state finalist, 3X state champion, West Point 2006, 3X EIWA Placer and NCAA Qualifier. US Military Champion and a member of the USA All-Army Team and 9th place finisher in World Military Championships. With a great coach-to-wrestler ratio you will learn effective technique and sound preparation from successful coaches, participate in spirited and competitive dual meets, and receive a free camp t-shirt and lunch each day. Join us for this amazing opportunity. The camps are open to full teams, partial teams, and individuals who are eager to learn moves that have optimum percentage of success at any level. Camps are for wrestlers entering middle school or high school in the fall of 2014. Camp cost is $125 per wrestler for pre-registration, ($140 per wrestler for day-of-registration) and includes instruction, coaching, lunch each day, and a camp T-shirt. Mid-South Wrestling Club will be hosting an off season Wrestling tournament on April 20th at Germantown High School. We will be wrestling 2 different tournaments on the day. We will have a folkstyle tournament starting at 9am and after its completion we will run a freestyle tournament. This is a great opportunity for your wrestlers to get some off season competition in. We will be allowing satellite weigh-ins,, so there will be no onsite weigh-ins. Also your wrestlers will need to pay and register online, and must have a valid USAWrestling card. We hope you will join us for the "Eye Opener 5K" to be held on October 23, 2010 at Shelby Farms. We will hold the 5K as well as a 1 mile Fun Run with PJ Contest so there will be something for everyone. For all who would like to support community awareness and support wrestling in West TN please log on to the website and help this cause even if you are unable to run on Saturday. There will be awards given to teams that compete/support this event This race is held in memory of Kyle W. Kiihnl, a Houston High School wrestler who was killed when a drowsy driver fell asleep at the wheel AND in memory of all others in our community who have been affected by a sleep related crash. Proceeds from the race will benefit Kyle's scholarship fund as well as research and community awareness activities performed by The National Sleep Foundation. The West TN Region recognizes its Outstanding Wrestler each year with the Region 8 Kyle Kiihnl Outstanding Wrestler Award as well as continued community awareness for driving drowsiness issues.
