  1. Cleveland High will have 2 math positions, a Science Position, and a Chemistry/Physics position. Contact Heath Eslinger at heatheslinger@yahoo.com if interested.
  2. For 2 months I have taken myself from these boards after realizing valuable time in my day was being spent reading posts that had no impact on my life and benefited my team in no way, shape, or form. After being informed of my popularity on this thread I thought I would give the true insight into what was said following the state duals on Saturday night. First, I would like to say that never have I said that Clarksville didn't do a great job with the duals. Artie Manning is probably one of the best tournament directors around and any program would be lucky to have him. He and Coach Jordan have done a great job with the duals and I would never want the responsbility of hosting it. To me, it shouldn't be a schools responsbility is should be the TSSAA's responsibility to put on the post season championship. Second, my conversation with Coach Jordan was not in the context of where the duals were held. It was in the context of some things that occured in our match. My reason for speaking to him was first and formeost to apologize for anything said to him during our match that wasn't appropriate. I hope that I will always remain humble enough to do just that throughout my coaching career. My only point to Coach Jordan about the duals is that each of us seemed to only look at circumstances from our own set of shoes or thru our own lenses. He had stated that it seemed the Chattanooga Officiating treated them unfairly and created an unlevel playing field. He didn't say it was a fact, he simply said it felt that way. In no way was he being negative during our conversation. I then in return said that for the outsiders it seemed the same way for us. This was our 2nd trip to the duals and each year we have had wrestle Clarksville to advance. Each year we have wrestled them on their mat and in front of their fans. It could be perceived that is an unfair advantage. Have they ever wrestled on one of the far mats, (I don't know). However, in that conversation I told him that I have never complained about those circumstances. The circles on each mat are the same and the time of the match is still 6 minutes. I have joked with Artie about it but that's just the way it is and I accepted that fact. As we finished our converstation and Coach Jordans athletes were moving mats I even stated that I would not want to host the duals. It is a headache that takes you away from your team and right now I don't have a go getter like Artie to make it all work. Artie has helped me out even this year running a tournament and the people of Clarksville are great hosts. I just believe the resposibility should lie on the state and not an individual school. If the state admits they can't do it and the only way to continue is for somone to volunteer then so be it. Maybe Artie Manning just needs to become the official tournament director for the state duals no matter where is it held. If he is willing then Cleveland might be willing to host. Last I want to say that we are all adults. I personally believe Coach Jordan is a great coach. Everytime I have wrestled his teams I age because they believe in what they do and they are tough as nails. Artie Manning has become a great friend as well over the last few years. As I try to look at this whole situation from their shoes I see their frustrations and how they feel underappreciated. I am sincerely sorry if that is what I conveyed. Anytime people move mats, get table workers, and run a tournament I appreciate it. We all know it's a royal pain. We have 9 days of wrestling left. The past week has been good for me to reflect on why I really coach. Each circumstance in our life allows us to examine why we do things. Hopefully, it is to impact young men in a way that will change their life. Although I may get shredded on this board by the faithful coach t posters I will not be back to defend myself. Pressing On, Coach Eslinger
  3. I would add: The Season of Life by Jeffrey Marx Quite Strength by Tony Dungy A Winners Manual by Jim Tressell Thanks for the reading list though, it's always good to be sharpened by others. Coach Eslinger

  5. Birdwatcher, You don't have to refer to me as riding time. Coach Eslinger works fine. I will always post my name on anything I write, you should try it. If you will provide me with Coach Pecks number I would be glad to offer an apology. My email is heatheslinger@yahoo.com Thanks, Coach Esligner
  6. go navy 2, ask any of my wrestlers and they will tell you I will never allow them to take an inury timeout for their lungs. If they do, I will go to bat for the other wrestler. However, when they know this they don't take it. As for the whole "man up" statement; "What is your name?". I am pretty certain I have the entire match on video if you would like to sit down and watch it.
  7. This is Coach Eslinger. I said nothing to the kid, however I did say several things to the coach and to the official. I was going to bat for my kid. Had I not watched the Ravenwood kid take injury timeout in his previous match with Clarksville I wouldn't have been as upset. I do not allow my athletes to take injury time and when it dictates a match it's unfortunate, maybe why people don't watch the sport. On the video he signals for a 2nd injury time, the ref signals it and punches his watch. A call was argued at the table and the injury time was taken away. It definitely would have been of benefit for my wrestler to get his choice. The rule book says 2nd inury time gives the other wrestler his choice. My kid was not as talented but in shape and ready to go the distance. I am going to go to bat for him especially when it's a do or die situation. Any questions, feel free to contact me. I have never said anything to a kid and will not do so in the future. If I walked away from the kid it wasn't intentional but it was to argue the call. I apologize to the kid if that was the case. Tough wrestler, but wanted my kid to get the opportunity the rules say he earned. Coach Eslinger Head Coach Cleveland High
  8. Recertifications recalcuates descent plan. 7 wrestlers in murfreesboro on Tuesday making the drop to the lower weights. Jabo has been much lighter than 19 and will never have to see 112 but rather 114. He has come up with a new guide to weight loss in one of his most recent Zombie (sp. check) books. The title of the book is: "Sleep and Yawn: the new way to weight loss" Coach Eslinger
  9. the match tonight at cleveland is at 6 pm.

  12. A facility has been secured for the wrestling club. It will be at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center in Cleveland. Practices will begin Tuesday March 15th. 13. I am still trying to solidify where practices will be held, but it will more than likely be in the Cleveland area. Thanks for the support and yes we will accept donations once our account is set up. I will let you know more information as those things happen. Thanks, Heath Eslinger
  14. This went from wrestling club to school board! I just want to simply clear up some concerns I have heard from some people. I am not starting this club to get rich. I could care less about making money. I will survive financially. I am also not trying to be a kids high school or middle school coach. I am simply wanting to do something in wrestling that is feasible for me at this time in my life. This is how it will work in a nutshell. Every athlete will be required to be a USA wrestling member. This is for insurance purposes. For a card that is valid for any USA tournament it is $35. I will charge on top of that $65 dollars to each student. Any kid who attends every practice will receive all $65 dollars back. Any other profit will be put in an account to be used to send kids that are in the club to Christian camps, wrestling camps, etc. Every student will receive a "highercallingwrestlingclub" shirt and a Bible. That will eat up some of the money brought in. If I lose money, Oh well! If we make some to help athletes out, even better. It seems like a win, win situation! Good luck in the post-season. If you have questions please feel free to contact me at (423) 284-8881. Heath Eslinger
