  1. krich I see your point on Mariah; she was hardly a newcomer in 06-07. Can I pick the referees for our game? Lots of chatter about boys coaching changes. Any on the horizon on the girls side in the tricounty seven?
  2. Mariah played even more as a sophomore!! The STAR has to be somewhat politically correct in their choices. However, for example, if you were choosing teams, one by one, would you really take Tinsman over Oliver? Not taking anything away from Tinsman, but I wouldnt. In my view, and I saw all these kids play multiple times, the only two clear first team choices are Brooke Johnson and Michaela Pietrowski. The rest are up for debate. I do think the STAR got the top 12 correct and what an all county team the MVP, first/second teamers and newcomer would make!!
  3. molesniper, tell us how its going to play out at EHS and when??
  4. Krich: When will it be offical, as in released to the media?
  5. If Wilson is out, then why hasnt it been announced? I tend to think that Wilson decided quite some time ago not to return and that the administration has decided to "time" the announcement and hire at a later date. I suspect that the reasons for this will become clear after the deeds are done. I do not think Oliver or Hazelwood will be EHS's boys coach. Nor do I think Weems is interested in moving over to the boys side. Ned Smith is a leading candidate I have heard; and of course Len Dugger would have to be considered, but will likely not get the job as Alexander will override any effort to hire Len. Anybody who thinks that politics left town with the recall and Roper removal................I've got some oceanfront property in Del Rio for sale!!!!!
  6. You are right Screen, krich wont do that on a triple dog dare. And neither will I. The talent pool is just too deep across the classes. The coaches vote on the all conference teams, and they don't limit it to just five; seems like its more like a dozen. It will be interesting to see if anyone takes a stab at a 'starting 5' for this years tri county seven.
  7. I havent jumped ship; I've just been out of town for a few days. I don't have alot to add or take away from Krich's very well thought out post. I do think the Lady Cyclone juniors deserve some mention; honorable of course!! Those four (Treadway, Culler, Jones and Fritz) all played key roles in the Lady Cyclone success this season. All came up big at various times in big games. They will proudly carry the Lady Cyclone Senior flag next year!
  8. The Lady Cyclones marquee wins this year included two over Boone, one over Science Hill and one over Tennessee High. Gillis over Head anyday. Frolich and Caldwell over either or both of TN Highs posts. Just my opinion. Wonder when the Watauga will release their all conference team?
  9. I don't understand all this banter about Stone's classification and team roster, at this point in the season. Maybe in November, but not now. They are an AA team now and that's all that counts. The comparison to Walker Valley is appropriate. Our Lady Cyclones are the team that was denied the trip to the Boro by Stone in saturdays substate game, and they feel no ill will. They are ill however--What everyone is talking about up here is how we could have won the game had we made our free throws and taken a little better care of the ball. Give Stone their fair due. They earned their shot at the Gold Ball this year. Good luck against Marshall County tommorrow!
  10. HSsportfan: Thanks for the kind words. Cyclone Pride isnt only shown in winning; although we do hate losing! One's true character shows clearly when facing adversity. This team overcame the loss of its leading scorer three weeks ago to win the Regional Championship and almost pull out a substate win. I say again, Great Job Girls! seminole: You better have your track shoes on when playing Stone. "Quick" doesnt do them justice. At every position. Bench included. And all are good ballhanders. And did I mention they can shoot--either off the drive or spot up.
  11. Its 114 wins, 3 Watauga Conference Championships, 3 District 1AA Championships, 3 Region 1AA Championships, and 1 State tournament appearance. Not a bad resume for these Lady Cyclone Seniors. Good job girls. Cyclone Pride.
  12. krich, if I listen to that tonight, I may hang myself. Perhaps tommorrow!! I do want to get a copy off you guys. Thanks for the coverage.
  13. Hats off to Stone--they are a very good team. Maybe the best guards EHS has seen this year this side of Stephenson GA. Difference in the game was foul shots----Stone made 16 in a row from the end of the third till the last minute, 20-25 overall; EHS was 6-15 on FTs overall, 3-11 in the first half with several of the misses in both halves being front ends of 1+1s. Also turnovers---EHS had 31. But with that said, it was a one point game at 39-38 with about 3 minutes to go. Stone just made the plays to win the game. Great crowd tonight. EHS stats were: Bush 12 points, 6 rebounds; Pietrowski 10 points 17 rebounds; Hopson 11 points; Treadway, Jones and Fritz 3 each; Culler 2. I am so proud of these girls and coaches. Only one team will not feel this way in AA by this time next week. Coachh17 we left it on the court tonight. Coulda played better and smarter. Oh well thats the breaks of the game.
  14. ballfan, from what I understand, UNC-Asheville and Coastal Carolina offered full rides. I also understand that Winthrop did as well. MTSU and UVA have also shown interest. Tonight Stone Memorial will show interest I'm sure. Krich why arent you on your way to the Land of OZ? Is WCYP broadcasting tonight and if so, where? Go Lady Cyclones.
  15. Storm, nice show of class there. Fortunately I know you are not representative of most Lander fans. Are you and KING related? GO ALL NE TN AREA TEAMS TONIGHT----EVEN Science Hill! And Greeneville!
  16. Mark I hope you are right! CoachSH: Thanks. Coach Weems, his staff and team definitely have that Cyclone Pride! As for the seniors: Michaela has had several D-1 offers but hasnt decided if she's going to play after high school. ETSU has the field of study she is interested in but Coach Kemp hasnt shown interest in her playing for them. As for the other three starters, I think they would play if offered, especially locally.
  17. Cyclones over Stone. Its five on five at any level chief.
  18. Bskballfan: Not so fast my friend: You predicted SM would beat Austin East in the post-season. I dont think so. Unless your prediction referred to the state championship game and not the regional matchup. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> Lady Cyclones. Cyclone Pride. Believe and Achieve.
  19. Never underestimate the heart of a Cyclone. Lets Roll.
  20. Krich, from what I understand, Stone plays 9 kids in their rotation--Two Srs; 4 Jrs, a Soph and 2 freshmen. Most of these girls played for Cumberland County (AAA) last year. They are a very athletic team which likes to play the uptempo game. Elizabethton just needs to play Cyclone basketball.
  21. Elizabethton--These girls don't mind getting a little mud on the tires. McNairy Central--This is their year to get to the Boro, after falling short with more talented teams. McMinn Central--Home court is the difference in these two evenly matched teams. Booker T Washington--Cause Booker T and the MGs Rocks! Claiborne over Austin East--My upset special. Claiborne handles pressure well, and I think they have a chance here--and may make the most of it. But wait, they are playing at AE----oh well, never mind! David Lipscomb--Home Court. Upperman--Home Court, although this one may be closer than the 7AA people think. Jackson Northside--Mitchell may keep it close for awhile. Voice: Is our Chorus singing at 7 saturday? I would think so! How bout that Betsy Band---they gonna be there too?
  22. 7 pm at AL John Treadway gym. From what I hear Stone Memorial is a very good team. But that is to be expected in a sectional game. There aren't any average teams still playing at this stage! Go Lady Cyclones! Keep bringing it girls!! Believe and Achieve.
  23. PantherDad: How bout a little scouting report on your Lady Panthers?
  24. Good Luck to the Carter County Region 1A teams, Unaka and Cloudland. Big game thursday to see who gets to go to Oliver Springs. Any Volunteers? BTW CY, Kim, Kim and Will: Great job on the broadcast tonight on wcypsports.com. I got home in time to listen to the rebroadcast at 10 and you guys did a great job. Keep up the good work!
  25. Lady Cyclones are on a mission. Looking forward to hosting a very good Stone Memorial team saturday.
