  1. yeah but you gotta look at the people that are really good at track that just didnt do so hot in cross like jackson and varble that will both be up there come track. however, this might be the first time that the middle doesnt get both at large bids in the distance events, of course i said that last year and it still didnt happen so we'll see. the top 4 in the middle for the 32 should be mahaney, johnson, varble, and jackson if everyone is healthy, and it should probably be the same in the 16. in the 8 it will be a completely different story with patterson up top most likely
  2. i'm goin with patterson in the 8, johnson in the 16, and clabo in the 32 personally i'm hoping jackson can put a good season together, even though he hasn't since his freshman year, and can put up a good fight in the 16 and 32 so neither race ends up being one guy running away from the field also, keveren and adams have an intense battle in the 16 at the great 8 this year and both go under 4:15. i'm looking forward to the distance carnival, i might have to stay in shape and run the 5k or something
  3. betting against keveren? thats pretty crazy it looks like you made sure you picked as few top returners as possible
  4. mahaney keveren anekan duble kroeger nobert ftw
  5. man i wish i hadnt graduated a year early cuz my 8k pace this year wouldve won that race by about 10 seconds lol was anyone besides me disappointed with keveren's time? i was really hoping he would do something crazy but maybe he's saving that for mcalpine. he and clay should have a good battle there in two weeks, and berry if he gets healthy by then but i haven't heard exactly how bad is injury is. every year there is one top senior that gets a big injury right before state and cant run like todd last year and bejan the year before and you gotta feel bad for those guys but no one that saw what berry did today could ever question his heart, that kid is now officially my hero. last but not least i really hope kk pulls out something insane at mcalpine cuz we all know with how tough it is to break 17 at steeple, she has a serious shot at pushing 16 if she feels good come race time in two weeks. i got a feeling it will be no slower than 1630 unless she just decides to just cruise then outkick people the last 1000m or something
  6. it looked like lipscomb did everything they could to prove that they could all run the worst races of their lives and still win. terrible race by those guys but congrats on the win despite that
  7. haha no offense to ryan cuz he's a beast but his body is not exactly ideal for xc, but then again mine is even less ideal for xc so i cant really talk. and unfortunately i do not think he can win the individual battle but he should be in the top 5 and his team will definately take home the championship trophy, and guys you better let me kiss it next time i see you
  8. haha i would too but i probably wont be there. good luck to you all and btw stealth ur my boy but if you dont make allstate on saturday i'm gonna castrate you
  9. you cannot compare cross country to baseball. also, why do you immediately assume that any team with talent has no heart. i guarentee you lipscomb and fra have just as much heart as all the other teams out there. its not like lipscomb doesnt even want to win state and couldnt care less, they are gonna be leaving everything on the course just like every other team
  10. its gonna take a whole lot more than a nanometer i mean seriously who are you kidding. you are just like all those retards from etown last year that were like hey guys its gonna be real real close between fra and etown and if they mess just one little thing up etown is gonna win. well they had a couple guys in their top 5 have terrible races, i mean honestly, bailey (9:57 32 runner) finished like 14th and patterson was even farther back than that. i think pattersons place might have actually been worse than his place his sophomore year in a much tougher field. so basically what i'm sayin is i'm tired of people trying to come in and say that if something little goes wrong for the obvious top team that they are gonna get beat when we all know that its gonna take 3 guys not finishing at all for them to get beat. the thing that makes teams like dl and fra great is that they have 7 really good runners so it doesnt matter if someone has a bad race. i mean come on dl's number 7 man is a 9:58 3200m runner, enough said.
  11. who's right about what? lets try not to be so vague. are you talking about who's right about the importance of being a good 400 runner or what?
  12. i said tennessee classic results. he will be no where near mahaney and coniglio on saturday
  13. haha no ones ever really a shoe in that far in advance. two years ago who saw johnson, mahaney, clabo, and coniglio as top contenders? after the state meet one year ago you still wouldnt guess any of those guys. i can understand guessing madden, mckinley, and patterson a while ago because they have been running well at state for a few years now but not the other guys. coniglio will definatley be a top contender in 2 years but there will be plenty of guys up there with him that come out of no where basically. and you guys may have forgotten but jeff musick is a sophomore 2. and what you really must have forgotten is mahaney is a sophomore 2 and beat coniglio by 2 seconds at the classic. i'm not saying that coniglio had his best race that day but neither did mahaney so in their only head to head match this year it looks like mahaney should be the favorite for 2008 top a/aa sophomores at classic: mahaney 17:44 coniglio 17:46 musick 18:03 collins (usjc freshman) 18:04 smith (usjc) 18:07 wilson (knox cath) 18:22 something else i would like to point out when i was looking at these results, macon country finished just one place behind usjc so i'm surprised no one has really talked about their chances as a team to get in the top 5, especially with a guy that could win the whole thing up front
  14. yeah madden was on page's very good 4x4 team so i'm sure he's got a 51 in him maybe faster. also, johnson has to at least have a 52/53 in him since he's a 2 minute 800 runner
  15. haha yeah i'm gonna have to continue what these last two guys said. you have to be joking. kp is a 50/51 400m runner so i dont know what you are talking about. do your research
  16. you obviously never saw kp run a 3200 (no offense kp ur my boy and you can rape me in anything shorter than a mile) also perkins pr is slower than yours, and musick's, and cowan's, and mckinley's. and i think mahaney's is about the same as yours, maybe a couple seconds faster. i think johnson, clabo, and varble are the only guys with 32 times significantly better than yours and i wouldnt consider varble part of that favorites field like we said earlier, track times mean absolutely nothing, for example the only reason kp has such slower times in the 32 and 16 is because during track season he trains for the 8 and 4 while during cross he trains for the 5k. if he wanted to train for the 32 i'm sure he would be a sub10 runner also but thats not what his team needs because as we all know fra is a hot bed for distance runners, not so much for 400 and shorter runners so they need him to run that race
  17. i agree, there are 3 guys in that race that ran in the 9:50s last year so a 950 definately doesnt make clabo the favorite, plus patterson, coniglio, madden, mckinley, mahaney, and many other guys that will be up at the top never got close to breaking ten but are still threats to win
  18. you need to do a little bit better job of clarifying yourself. it took me a few seconds to realize you were talking about girls
  19. it also helps that keveren is a lot better than berry. i dont think trent and i were saying that being a senior means you can catch someone 20-30 better than you, it just gives you that extra edge in the last 400m. for example if clabo, patterson, johnson, and coniglio are neck and neck with 400 to go i think clabo and patterson would finish before the other 2. we arent trying to say that kathy kroeger is gonna get beat by the whitestation girls just cuz their seniors or something crazy like that
  20. being in college and having gone through the whole senior state meet thing i definatley have to side with trent dilfer on this one. i outkicked quite a few non seniors in the last 800 of my state race. the senior emotions do make a big difference whether you want to believe it or not. why do u think the top 7 guys at state last year were seniors? they werent necessarily the top 7 runners. the first three runners to come in from region 5 at state were seniors while at the region meet, that isnt nearly as important to teams like dl and fra that know they have another race left, the first three runners included only one senior. the evidence is strongly in the favor of seniors having that emotional push in their final race
  21. well if you wanna go by avg time or something the 01 teams will be much better just because austin weaver is still by far the best runner to run a/aa since the split. daniel jones is the only other runner close but he was way to inconsistent to be up there with austin weaver
  22. i was actually asking what the record for points at region is but thank you for giving me that anyway. i agree that it would be tough for them to do and like i said i would rather they dont just because they are no where near being one of the best a/aa teams since the 3 division splits. that is the other thing, that fra 01 team is easily the best team since the split but there were better teams before that when d2 schools ran small school. basically records in xc dont count for much because there are way too many variables
  23. i was wondering the same thing. also does anybody know if dl's score was a region record? i think it had to be. the girls obviously was since it was 15. thats pretty good for a guys and girls team to combine for 36 total points in the toughest a/aa region in the state. also dl guys obviously have a shot at fra's point record at state but i kinda hope that get it even though i am a big dl fan just because i think it would be unfair for them to get the record with how much better those fra teams of old were. even the recent fra teams, and recent dl teams for that matter were better this is just a really off year around the state. in 04 the current dl team probably wouldnt have been good enough to beat the top 3 teams in the region from that year, having said that they are still a very good team and are completely dominant that depends 100% on the weather and race strategy of the leaders on race day. 15th could be anywhere from 17:00ish-18:00ish depending on conditions
  24. oh and jcs might be able to get in there 2 for that 3rd place battle. sorry i forgot about you guys
