Polk County Football......He's one of the best coaches in the area. Why would anyone want him gone? Has something happened or has he done something worthy of being fired? I mean, if so, then I guess he should be gone but otherwise, why mention it?

I was commenting on another post regarding a school board vote. I have just stated my opinion! I don't think anyone wants him to leave, because he is a good football coach, but he might "take his ball and leave".. because things didn't go his way.

I will be glad to get this thread back on topic..

I don't think Polk can hang with Meigs tonight. They are in a streak of strong teams and Polk is in lull, (but improving). I hope to see a decent game tonight, but I fear a mercy ruling!

Implying that the coach at Polk County is a detriment to the team is pretty hilarious. I hope you get exactly what you're asking for.

You are correct, he is a really good football coach... and in the end, that is all that really matters!

Exactly!!! Polk would be AWFUL without Coach Davis.

"Polk" would be awful, or Polk County football would be awful?

Polk is having some internal issues as a result of a school board vote gone sour. Don't be surprised if a few players transfer after this year. Just the noise around Benton

I guess the vote going "sour" depends on your point of view. If you are referring to what I think you are referring, I for one think it was pretty sweet!

Maybe it's not the players that need to leave!?

  4. If Polk were to beat Marion in a couple weeks, the region would finish Tyner, Polk, Marion, Bledsoe/Tellico.

Marion, Polk, and Bledsoe (if they beat Tellico) would be in a 3 way tie for district record with no "head to head" tie breaker available. Next tie breaker is total wins.. Polk would have atleast 6 at that point, Marion at most 4, Bledsoe at most 4.

That's what a guy told me when I said Loudon would whip signal too.Just my thoughts Whitwell is pretty good.....

You know I'm messin' with you orng. I figure Whitwell is the fav, but I'll take Polk plus 35 for all you got. Seems to Charlie that Polk's 2 losses may be better quality than all of Whutwell's wins.

  6. I believe I made it very clear that "I respect him as a coach, I have defended his coaching" and there is no where in my posts where I mention or imply that he mistreats his players. I think my very first statement was that he cares for the 40-50 players on his team.Maybe you are mistaking me for the poster that complained about the P's being removed.

I have my reasons, none of which involve his coaching or treatment of football players. And I'm not going to start detailing things on a message board.

Congrats Chargers!..Charlie's moving back to 1A 2A for next weeks game.

  7. Here we go with the ignorance again. I would love for you to give me examples of what you are talking about when you say Coach Davis doesn't care about anything else. Could it be the band to which he gives a portion of every ticket sold on Friday night home games? Could it be soccer whose field he maintains for free and without question? Could it be baseball to which he donated money to build their complex? Could it be basketball who he allows to sell football programs as a fundraiser? Could it be cheer who he donated money to buy uniforms and a mascot costume? Could it be golf, whose motel rooms he paid for when they made the state tournament? Which one of these programs are you talking about when you make these slandering statements? Have some facts about things before you shoot off your mouth. Don't question someone's character when you obviously know nothing about them as a person. You have ran your mouth and made inaccurate assumptions. I have given facts and examples of actual events that have happened. Coach Davis is a good person. Period.

Oh, "he decides" to give a portion of the tickets to the band, "he allows" the basketball team to sell programs, and he actually maintains HIS practice field and "he allows" the girls soccer team to practice and play on it if it's convenient for him.

These things are not his to decide and the fact that you just pointed out that he ALLOWS these things to happen proved my point. And by the way, using money raised at football games to help advance other sports is not a donation from D. Davis.

You have your opinion, I have mine. And when it comes to his worth as a human being.....my opinion is, he's a good football coach! Now we have both stated our opinions, we can get back to the game if you would like.

And by the way, if I we're making defamatory statements on a football forum, it would be libelous, not slanderous.

  8. Charlie I have read your posts for years and I have never seen you this upset with PCHS.

I'm not upset. I love PCHS, I love PCHS athletics, especially football, because I wore that red.

I respect Davis' coaching, I will defend his coaching, but being a good football coach does not necessarily make one a good person. Like I said, I will always support PCHS, for the kids, and because that's my school.

So, orange, don't mistake my disdain for D. Davis, the person, as anything attributed to PC as a whole.

And these boys are going to surprise you Friday, when they get this win!

  9. Coach Davis is a good coach and more importantly a good man that cares about each and everyone of his players!

He is a good coach and he does care about those 40-50 players, but that's it. That doesn't make him a good man. A good man is someone who cares about things other than what he has a vested interest in. There is more to PCHS than just that football team and he could not care less about the rest of it. I respect his coaching ability, but other than that, he is worthless!

I will be there Friday night, just like every Friday night for the past 40 years, but I support the football team because of the kids,,just like I support the basketball teams, the baseball team, the soccer team, etc.. For the kids. Not for the almighty Derrick Davis!

    And Polk 27 - Baby Blue 14

  10. I have seen both teams, and sorry Logcabin, this is the end of the road... And I would say 4-5 TD victory by the Arsh.

ND v Polk was over in the 1st quarter.

MC v Polk, Central was lucky to win!

I know, it was a rivalry game, Polk lost some players between Central and ND,,, but even with all those things considered... that's not a 7 TD swing... ND could have broke the scoreboard against Polk.. Central won because Polk failed to convert PAT's..

Good luck though! Hope you prove Charlie wrong

  11. No us faithful and loyal fans know this happens every now and then and we don't want Davis gone. IMO he has done a great job over the years and this year just been rough and like Charlie said had some that quit on their teammates. Just bothers me that we have fair weather fans aslo the stands have been half full most of the season. These young men deserve to have the fan support for showing up and giving it their all every Friday night.

I could not agree more! This Friday is senior night, and the Polk fans need to get out there and show our appreciation for the seniors that have stuck this thing out.

Regardless of record, the young men out there now have given their best for Polk Co football and deserve to go out with some support!

  12. Seems like to me they are the Polk of old, or at least the Polk I remember growing up in the late eighties early nineties.

You need to check your record books or your memory!

    80's were all play-off teams. '93ish - '98ish were the dark years!

Blaster pretty much summed up the season, youth and low numbers to start with and then multiple injuries... and quitters, don't forget the quitters!

  13. Let me also add that I was sad to realize how many fair weather fans Polk has! Last nights crowd was pathetic! Most teams will have down years and it is our responsibility as fans to support these kids regardless of the record. I will be there every Friday and I have no kids, nephews, or relatives of any kind playing now! I just love Polk County sports and will be there through good and bad!

  14. Polk continued to struggle moving the ball on offense.

They are playing a lot of young kids because of injuries and the quitters! I believe 8 starters are injured.

0-10 is a very real possibility and likely!

Polk will be better next year, and the 2016/2017 class looks strong and getting a lot of playing time.

  15. Charlie, I meant no disrespect.  Your boys played hard, like normal.  I told people Polk was better than what people think.  This is a true testement to the saying your record does not always indicate who you are.  I know there is an injury, and I hope the young man is back sooner than later.  Polk could potentially win out.

No disrespect taken.... it's just one of those years for Polk, one we haven't seen in a long time, inexperience, depth issues, injuries, and everything that can go wrong...goes wrong at the most inopportune moment...

That was the best central team I have seen since y'all beat us 16-0 in 2008.

Last I heard the injury may not be season ending as first thought, possibly 2-3 weeks, but thats just what I heard through the grapevine.

  16. The score could have easily been a three touchdown victory.

You're correct, it could have very easily been a three touchdown victory.. either way! But at least now we know the difference in a "up" Central team and a "down" Polk team is a couple missed extra points!!

    Coaches sometimes out think themselves.

You guys have a sledgehammer of a tailback (#3),,,,, SWING IT!!!
