Great game tonight. Congrats to Notre Dame, y'all really seem to be a great bunch of kids, nothing but great sportsmanship and hard hitting all around by both teams. Notre Dame made the plays and limited the mistakes and were the better team tonight.
Go get Upperman and represent SE TN. Good luck!
Polk seniors thanks from an old Cat, you were a pleasure to watch. Underclassmen, I guess Bradley is next!
Charlie's going into hibernation.... Fellow CoahT'ers, its been fun, see you in the Spring.

Good luck to both teams. This should be a good one!
See y'all at LGD Football Complex!!

Switching gears, our band (among others-hopefully) is coming early to eat dinner at the Polk concession stand. Yet another reason to like and respect Polk Co. A wise man once said, "Never disrespect someone that is feeding you!"
Enjoy!!!
Peanut and all his help do a great job with the Wildcat Cafe! Great burgers!

No, unfortunately he had to have surgery on the shoulder after the Polk game and is out for the rest of the season.
Good luck to him in his rehab. I'm sure he'll be back and even better next season.

Miller is no longer hobbled By a bad ankle and Lanning (starting LB) I think missed week 7 is healthy.
I believe it was Hammonds, DE... that was out.
Volahol, is 55 healthy?

Is he reapplying. If so he may let us know how you guys got some of your players. He did reapply when the job came open before. Just for your info.
Y'all can take your Purple Pounder coaching search back to the proper thread!

Murph,
Please don't mistake IrishTrikstr as a rep from the Irish Nation. I have had kids at ND that have spanned the last 10 years and have had the pleasure of seeing some good games between ND and Polk. Coach Derrick Davis, in my opinion, is probably the most underrated coach around. Regardless of his talent level from year to year, he always seems to win and he does so by being a great motivator, and seemingly teaching his young men to be very disciplined and tough. Not knowing him personally, he seems to combine the qualities of a likable "players' coach" with the hard nosed tough nature of the typical "old school" coach.
He seems to always have a bunch of kids playing for him (which speaks to how well liked he is and how he motivates kids to come and play), he always seems to beat some teams that "on paper" or according the so called experts, he is not supposed to beat, and his teams always seem to play with great fundamentals and discipline. A Coach Davis football team is not (in my time seeing them) going to beat themselves and they are going to do everything possible to expose and take advantage of any weaknesses that your team has. NOTE: Despite ND missing a RB in the first game, I think Polk had a lot to do with how we played. They had some long drives on offense, they had a "bend but don't break" defense and they also created several turnovers on defense. I agree that ND did not have their "A game," however when you don't give a great, well-coached team props when they beat you is arrogant and insulting. I want the Polk County nation to know that 99% of Irish fans have nothing but respect for Coach Davis, his entire staff, and the Polk County team. Unfortunately, this silent majority doesn't post on coacht.
One more point about Polk. I have always heard that their players play with class and don't trash talk. No team is perfect in this regard, but you can tell that Coach Davis must preach character and team above all else. These are the same values that Coach Fant preaches.
I think the game Friday will be an exciting matchup and I hope all of the young men playing finish the game healthy and may the best team win!
Excellent post. I understand the fanatics are posting. I don't have a problem with volahol, and the other guy is probably an 11 yr old kid....
I look forward to a great game Friday, aint no easy ones this time of year....
Win or lose, I'll stand and cheer my team when the horn sounds, and if it doesn't go Polk's way, I'll congratulate the Irish and start counting the days 'til next season.

I'm going with the CHEIFs in this one, and I do believe they can get to the semi's.

Lmao you're an idiot.21-7 ND
Yeah, I'm the idiot. Thanks, good explanation.

...... we had our worse performance all year on offense (polk had little to do with that BTW) ...
You keep spouting this drivel, could you please elaborate on this?
I agree that Polk had nothing to do with Notre Dame's inability to stay on sides or get a play in on time, but I'm pretty sure they had something to do with the 3 interceptions, the 4th down stops, etc.
So enlighten us on exactly what you mean by this,,, was the play calling not what you would have liked, because we know some of the ND fans have proclaimed fant as the greatest coach in Tennesseee.
Was it the effort of the kids? Surely they didn't have a problem getting up for Polk..
I know, you were missing your running back..... and you're right, Polk didn't have anything to do with that, but from all the previous post this season I thought ND was more than a one man show....
You know Polk usually rolls up about 400yards of offense, they had 270 something against ND, but none of us Polk fans have been on here saying "it had nothing to do with ND"
It was a 2 point game, so yeah, it could go either way this time, but both teams made mistakes, both teams made plays.....and to say that the opponent had nothing to do with your teams performance just perpetuates the stereotype of the arrogant Notre dame fan.
If you could just give us a little more detail on what you mean?
Oh and Polk will be missing one of their starters this friday, so I guess us fans will have an excuse next week!

If he didn't win with the athletes at Central he sure ain't gonna win at these two less athletic schools.
If these are new schools, how do you know they are "less athletic" than Central?

I have seen Zach Miller, from Polk, be called for "hurdling" twice in the past two seasons when the defenders were on their knees. One at home, and one on the road.

Hey Doc, volahol is a ND fan. He's already making round 3 plans, cause according to the classless irish fans, Polk only beat them in week 7 because ND played the worst game in school history,,,,but had nothing to do with the opponent. It don't matter how you match up with ND, you have the Ram Train coming to town. They are better than either ND or GC. I think this will be the best team the Bees have seen all year. Will be a great game but from what I seen the Rams can get to the edge on your defense. Upperman can play with anyone on offense, QB is GOOD. Best of luck this week Bees and always enjoy coming up to Baxter, maybe we will meet again in girls basketball.
PS- If your looking to the 3rd round, don't think ND is who I would be worried about. Polk is for real!!!!!
-
Textbook Notre Dame arrogance.I think deep down, the Polk Nation wants nothing to do with ND again. They know we didn't have our A game last time.
I'll not speak for other Polk fans or the team or coaches, and definetely not other teams fans, but I will speak for myself and what I do know....
Polk turned the ball over 3 times in ND territory, Polk took a knee inside the ND ten yard line to end the game, ND couldn't lineup on sides or on time, ND had no sustained drives.
Ok, you didn't play your best, I guess you assume Polk did?
Now you think ND is a different team because you beat Sequatchie, Coalfield, Grundy, and Cascade since week 7?
I gues the 2nd and 3rd worst game for ND just happened to be Knox C and Signal....
At this point there are 16 teams remaining, I would think all are pretty good, would I prefer another cupcake for round 2? Sure, but we are down to the good teams.
I just hope ND brings more than 20 fans this time. We'll see you Friday, have a great game, and whoever wins advances.

Possibly whoever usually carries Walker Valley.....is it 95.3?

Watch out for our Indian Warrior riding around on her horse.
What happened to her spear? Zero tolerance?
And also watch out for the visitor's bleachers, they are awful, no aisle, open to the ground.
You will want to tether your small children.

Can someone tell me the score of the forfeit game between CC and Tyner?
35-10

Hey PCA, can you tell me how the game between Polk and CCentral went? was it a blowout to begin with or was it close til the end? Did Miller have his way? Did they run or pass against you guys? Thx for info
I'll give you the synopsis...
Keep in mind it was week 1, and one of their top RB's, (maybe their #1 RB) got hurt in the first series and never came back.
The game was close for the 1st quarter, maybe into the 2nd. Miller had 200+ I think.
Polk actually scored on a 96 yard sweep (#21) but it was called back due to a holding call on the other side of the field, and Centrals last TD was against the 2nd team D. So it could have been worse.
Polk was able to contain Central's speed, they never could get outside. Their QB was not much of a passer in week 1.
With all that said, I don't know what they are doing different since week 1.. I think they may have scrapped the spread O and gone back to a wing T.
-
He got it 2 yards at a time. I think he carried it 50 times. You know you, your coaching staff and Polk nation do not want to see ND again. Just admit it........ By the way tell Warboss your not from Cascade.
Just to keep it factual.. In week 7, Polk vs Notre Dame, Miller for Polk had 148 yards on 32 carries, which if my public education math holds, is >4.5 yards/carry.
-
I hope you're correct,,, but you never know.
Give us a summary of Squatchie... Do they run it, throw it, are they big, fast, players to watch, etc..
-
I'm not player nor coach, so I want to look ahead and just say......
Sequoyah vs Signal would be fun, with those HUGE linemen on both sides...
Dumdum how big is that real big guy... I think he was #72 (not sure) but he was an underclasmen... Played some nose against Polk
-
Out coached I would beg to differ. ND constantly lined up offsides ( coaching) and they ran so many trick plays especially on first down it was pathetic (coaching)... Their play calling was atrocious when something worked they went away from it
Come on, they lined up offsides because the refs put the ball in the wrong spot...
I do remember the coachT ND fans questioning the play calling of their awesome coach..
All I know is Polk won. And I'm pretty sure that's all that really counts!
Back to round one of the playoffs, Cascade fans,, bring your wallet.. ND charges about 10$ (satchel money) to park, and it's not a "donation", plus get there early because they only have bleachers for about 400....they choose to spend their money in other places....
ND @ POLK Rd2 (REMATCH)
