  1. Congrats to Nick Marable as he is now the 14th ranked wrestler at 157 by W.I.N. Magazine, having recently defeated two other ranked oppents at 157 and bumping up and also defeating two others at 165. http://www.themat.com/index.php?page=showa...ArticleID=16010
  2. i.e. Demetruis Johnson at the D1 individual state championships!
  3. I have seen Livingston wrestle many times. From my observation he has trouble wrestling to his competition. It was good to see that he gave the 2x state champion a match. At the same time as I looked through the brackets I see the wrestler he was pinned by in the cons. finals he had beaten earlier in the tournament by a 13-point margin. When Livingston learns to put everything together and wrestle like he is wrestling a 2x state champion every match he will be a much improved wrestler.
  4. First of all freedom of speech needs to be responsibliy used. No MAN should post comments about children that are in way shape form or fashion negative about the individual. Secondly the weight certification test is not bias. The only mishap may be that the scale mistakes muscle for fat. The 10 lbs on a 112 pound wrestler is a far greater percentage of body weight than on a 171 pound wrestler. Lastly I do not know how you can compare NC's Super 32 to "just another touranment". This tournament housed some on the most elite youth wrestlers in the country this year. It is unfair to put a placement comparison from this tournament to one of local stature where the talent of individuals is not as abundant.
  5. Any site for public to view brackets?
  6. Can't wait...CoachD you have any info on the progress of Brother Martin post-Katrina? Last I heard the wrestlers were all staying with their highly decorated (wrestling wise not interior decoration) coach.
  7. I would greatly enjoy a Creagan-Wright matchup. The clashing of the two different styles would interest me. If Wright comes away with a solid win over Creagan he will be arugably the most dominate wrestler in the state. If Creagan pulls out a victory it will once again reassure everyone of the respect he deserves. Depending on their previous weights prior to the Bradley Invite, I may want to make some room in my schedule to make the trip. Anyone have the date the finals will be held on?
  8. Come on CoachD where are you on this one?
  9. Every year I read and hear of all the supporters of a switch to a double elimination tournament rather than the pre-existing carry-style bracket system. Every year the biggest factor that stops the progress of amending the double elim.-style is time. Geogria ran a great state tournament last year with all 5 Divisons competing in a double-elimination style bracket. I haven't been to any meetings so I can't complain to much but has there been a push for the change this year?
  10. Look for a early possible matchup between, Wright and Felix, before state on January 6 in Nashville in the Father Ryan Gym. Both Houston and Franklin have been apart of this tournament for the past few years. After talking to Wright after his state finals match i got the impression that he didn't, as he put it "open up", aganist Spain in the finals. He had worked hard to get to the finals and did not want to do anything to give Spain an advantage. Remebering the finals match, Wright only shot twice on Spain, both times taking him down. I believe that after the second takedown Spain was turned, and Wright recieved back points. Felix and Wright would be worth any admission priced on the match. My prediction would be a low scoring first period, with both wrestlers feeling each other out, but look for Wright to be the victor after securing a couple takedowns.
  11. True I did forget about Holiday. He is a great wrestler and a even greater young man. I remeber him when he was in the middle school program at CBHS and was making noise there. I guess I haven't been doing my job and overlooked Holiday. Anyone know what weight he is attempting to go?
  12. I was over in the eastern side of the state and I heard that D.Johnson, D.Waddel, B.Johnson, and B.Wright all attened UTC this past weekend for a college visit. I knew Baylor's Johnson has already commited but I heard Munford's Johnson verbally commited this weekend.(can anyone varify this?)If this is so, UTC seems to be aquiroring alot of home grown talent and is looking good as far as recruitment. But back to the orginal topic congrats to Johnson and his acceptance of this great honor.
  13. Anybody from the region know or want to project where most of the regions key performers will be this year as far as weight?
  14. CBHS will be solid this year but i could see them losing a match to one of the top 2 public schools if everything feel in place. Kids from CBHS who could win for them consistantly are D.Baucke, J.P.Carney, D.Carney, J.Pass, P.Bonilla, J.Baucke, and D.Williams! Houston has the ability to be a serious threat in and outside of the memphis area. In the past couple of years they have been mostly just a good tourney team but this year they have many seniors and juniors that have the ability to step up (heard from one of the kids they only lost 1 senior) Colliverville will suffer because of a lose of many of there previous stars, and won't be as deep as they have been in the past 3 years. With a new coach it will be interesting how they meet this challange. Geramantown will have a good chance of defending their Region Crown this year with the lose of only a few key people. Look for D.Smith and E.Bernard to lead the team as they don't have many superstars but these kids have heart and talent. St.Benedict is a team on a mission. Yes they lost T.Wynn but they have a upcoming star by the name of R.Mackenzie. This look for this youngster to make some noise after having two quality varsity years under his belt. other teams with ability are Cordova, Bricrest, and Barlett
