  1. Does anyone plan to or know of any plans to have an 18u girls team?
  2. This would be why basketball is a tournament game. It will all be determined by seasons end. Think about how Boise State feels right now.
  3. Jasmine played with the Tennessee Gold 16U last Spring.
  4. Pageman, as we discussed after the last game between CHS & PHS. the travelling calls were noticably different in the 2 games. You felt they were excessive at Centennial and I thought they were accurate. Conversely, they were basically non existent in the rematch at Page. I counted about 8 potential violations on Page in the 1st half with only one called. Anna Morton still takes that shift step before she puts the ball on the floor. In the second half, I lost count but only 1 travelling call was made. I think #11 carries the ball virtually everytime she brings it up court. ( her hand is completely under the ball when she dribbles, particularly with her left. ) With no call made, obviously, it doesn't matter. This does however demonstrate the difference between the 2 officials associations. Centennial has improved and hopefully, will continue to get better with the goal of upsetting some teams later in the season and during the district tournament. Also, Thanks for your acknowledgement of Rebecca's efforts. Merry Christmas to you and all the CoachT family.
  5. Alex Fuller, Shelbyville, UT Jessica Mooney, Hillsboro HS, Vanderbilt Cat Butler, Brentwood HS, Christian Brothers-Memphis
  6. The midgets from Franklin lost 1 game with 2 starters missing. Scappy bunch with a very good understanding of the game and the team concept. Seemed to be very well coached and able to adjust to the opponent rapidly.
  7. Pageman , Could you tell us what constitutes an assist for you. I have heard several criteria, but I generally think when a basket is made after a pass and the receiver takes no more than 2 dribbles the passer should be given the assist. Is that anywhere close to accurate? Also, do you give an assist to the passer if the shooter is fouled in the act of shooting and goes to the line? If so does she have to make 1 or both free throws before the assist is given?
  8. The family moved into the Centennial district and Rebecca was no longer eligible to play at Brentwood but was eligible at Centennial.
  9. Williamson County teams are just beginning to play each other . That makes it difficult to have any better grasp of the season than previously stated. Independence looks to be the most improved so far. Franklin has been somewhat unpredictable. Centennial is definitely struggling due to lack of player development over the past few years. I haven't seen Ravenwood yet but they don't appear to be much better when compared to other county teams. Brentwood is still the team to beat until someone shows differently. I think Independence will give them a good game if their post players perform up to their potential and can dominate the boards.
  10. They don't play until next Tuesday 12-12-06. Played Hillsboro last night and lost by 22 ( I think ).
  11. Actually they weren't outplayed all night. It was an 8 point game after tree quarters. Centennial couldn't match Indy's agressiveness on the boards and got beat with second, third, and fourth shots. They are getting better and it will continue throughout the season.
  12. CHS 2007, You need to let go of the 6 point game vs. Lawrence County. The team was certainly embarrased by that performance but they have moved on and are working hard every day to improve. Maybe you should try and be encouraging and drop the negativity . As for the coaching change, to this point I would say the lack of player development in the past 3 season is more to blame for this years team than the efforts of the new coach. As the saying goes,"You can't make chicken salad without chicken" or something like that. Centennial, up until this past Summer has had zero Summer practices or camps, they have only 3 girls that have ever played AAU ball; one is a freshman, another is a transfer and the other played in the 6th grade. You can't compete in this day and time without putting in the time and work during the off season. Finally there is hope for this season. That is that the team will improve throughout the season, that the younger players will see what has to be done to be competitive, and that inspite of the school's historical lack of support from the administration and Centennial community they can and will turn the program around. It just takes time and hard work.
  13. Thanks for the report. I disagree somewhat with your assesment of the officiating. Page's point guard repeatedly carried the ball and travelled. Others shuffle their feet before putting the ball on the floor ( I call this the Michael Jordon move. ). They had problems with this last year as well. ( Check your sheet on Page vs. Brentwood last year. I think Morton had 3 travels called in the first half alone. ) As for the fouls, I agree they were allowing the girls to play. Frankly, Page was much more agressive on defense and the boards and generally that will lead to more fouls. I would gladly swap Centennial's lack of intensity and agressivenes for Page's. Their agressivness was the primary differnece in the game. Centennial girls have not learned that basketball really is a contact sport. Thanks again for the report. Every team should be so lucky to have some one provide the information you do.
  14. Word is that Centennnial has a point guard transfering in from Texas after the 1st semester. She is said to have led her team to the AAAA championship last year. I don't know her name at this time but she is registered for next semester.
