  1. I don't really know anything about Maplewood, except that they were 8-2 in regular season and lost to hillsoboro and ooltewah(sp?)...from what i have heard and seen ooltewah( i really do apologize if i am butchering that name) was not as strong this year as previous years, and that makes me question how strong maplewood really is...however, you cant always go by previous games, actually, you can rarely go by previous games..that being said though, im pretty sure my class will be getting their 4th state championship this saturday, but i guess we will just have to wait and see who has the most points after those 60 minutes are played...hope everyone has a safe trip there and back, see ya there
  2. okay, im not going to lie...when we do eventually move up to 5A, yes we will lose a game, or maybe more than just one...heck, we could lose one before we move up, HOWEVER, after the boys adjust to the 'different or more intense playing level' we will rise to the occasion and take everyone in that class down just as we have in 4A because its not all about what class we're in, george and all his coaches are just a special group of guys, and thats just the way it is....
  3. HEY ALCOA. THANKS A BUNCH. WE WERE ROOTING FOR YOU ALL TOO THROUGH THE GAME. WAY TO PUT THE BIG WIN ON THE BOARD. GO MARYVILLE AND GO ALCOA HI HO HI HO ITS TO THE BORO WE BOTH GO AGAIN..........................................YEAH
  4. well, i intend on being there in about an hour to begin trooping through this awfully cold weather we will probably have tonight, hope everyone is dressing warm and be safe tonight everyone God bless
  5. I am not sure where you got that information, but maybe I was wrong; if so, I apologize. However, as I previously stated, I do not believe that a couple hundred kids can really affect the greatness of the football program, there are not any sophomore starters, and that would be the ONLY way it could really matter, because the starters and seniors have all been here for years. Also, the number of students at a school doesn??™t always determine the strength of the team anyhow, i.e., ALCOA, they are a great team who constantly took down two 5A teams (heritage and WB) and eventually those two teams dropped them from their schedule, but this thread isn??™t about our enrollment or any of that anyways, I just wanted to respond to what I was reading, so im moving on, but I wish yall would just get over trying to find any one thing wrong with us and just accept that we are succeeding right now, yes we will lose one day, but tonight, its not happening, hope everyone has a safe trip??¦.
  6. **NEWS FLASH** i love how people try to put us down by saying that we are just trying not to move up to 5A.., a school cant just say "oh hey, i think we should probably switch classes this year, yeah that seems like a good idea!" no, thats not how it works, to shock the world, this is the first year that we have had enough students to even be in the number of students for a 5A team, and thats just because there are over 400 freshmen(who dont even have an effect on the football team) and because we are actually proficient in areas other than football, i.e., academia, so parents pay the tuition for their kids to get an actual education..and as i previously stated, you cant just move up or down a class whenever your enrollment changes by a couple 100 kids, there is a time period i believe of either 4 or 5 years when the TSSAA re-classifies each school, so in 2009, as long as something crazy doesnt happen with enrollment and kids get kicked out or they do not change the numbers required for 5A, maryville will move up, and George and company will show everyone that it's not just the "weak" schedule we have in the regular season, but that we really are a class act and know what high school football is all about p.s. YOU WISH YOU WERE A REBEL!!!!
  7. I would just like to second what tnnitehawk and football101 said about george, yall certainly hit it right on the nose...he just loves being here and doing what he does, i remember at the beginning of the year one of the assistant principals was telling the us, the senior class, about how glad we should be that GQ was still there and for us to realize how many offers he had been given by other schools, but he just loves being in Maryville, and obviously he is successful...also, i agree that he is a wonderful role model, not only for coaches, but for people in general, my church invited him to come share his testimony one Sunday morning and i was truly blessed to hear what he had to say, and i am VERY thankful for him and what he brings to our school system.
  8. i appreciate that sattire, haha...and that was a great quote, im pretty sure my RED rebels have it mastered /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  9. my freshman year the cheerleaders threw out shirts that said "together we seek to dominate and destroy any opponent who dares to escape the black hole"thus, in 2004, the black hole came to life as the maryville high school student section...
  10. i really appreciate that classiness and respect, it gets really old people telling us we have nothing but luck winning game after game, so thanks..and yes, the stadium is at the school, and yes there is a visitors side, decency of seats depends on how avid the fans are for the visiting team, sometimes their side is completely crowded before ours is even 3/4 of the way full, and their seating is not too terribly small, but id say absolutely no later than 6, but i normally get my seat in the student section around 5:15, and the visitors stands are close to half filled soon after that and with this being semi-finals, i am sure it will be no different...hope that helps a little, safe travels /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  11. hm, thats a pretty good point, i really hadnt ever thought about that, i guess it really depends on how well south's coaches have taught them not to listen to what they hear, but just go out and play and give it their all...regardless of south's mindset, however, i feel good about missing school friday after next and going to the buro, and i dont think those chances are going to be impeded too much this week, because after seeing friday's game, i think our boy's are finally ready to play their real grade A football...
  12. yes, morristown did beat us back in '03, but did you happen to notice the score of the game(there might have been more than one, i cant remember) that we played them since then? we came to THEIR field, and ran all over them, and i can assure you that measuring how well we played as a 2003 team can show nothing, because there are no players from that team on our team now, they all graduated this past may and were only freshmen during the last loss..however, year before last is when we went to their town and won, and our seniors now were sophomores then, and some star players even then..however, i dont really know much about mo west this year, but i know their record isnt as good as it has been in past seasons... so i believe you should re-think that attempted morristown metaphor..
  13. ha...they're the rebels too? lovely thanks
  14. well, they tried their best im sure, but we just finally played top knotch ball tonight...does anyone know who we see next week?
