  1. i saw a great boys game between two very good teams... dc fans should not get on here and bash your team, players or coaches.....or even make an excuse........ both of these teams have solid talent....THIS WAS A HARD FOUGHT AND HARD COACHED GAME.....when dburg goes to dc, the score very well could be the other way around....... dburg will get the big man "dirty dave" after dec 19...he by far will bring the biggest presence in the "post"... dc will get the 7' giant back after christmas...they too should be solid in the "post"..... do not be surpised to see both in the boro.... for all you folk in dc....lets cheer both teams on.... 2. i was suprised to see henry cnty beat northside? did not henry cnty play a tuff game the night before against union city that went into overtime? i would of thought that northside would of had the edge....thinking that HC legs may be a tad tired from that overtime game.... i guess not..... congrats to the pats...good luck on your season
  3. overtime...you must be kidding? you don't think people bet on high school games? come out from under that rock you live under....... yes, i do go to vegas baby and i did vote for the lottery... my statement about "gladly placing a wager" was nothing more than an example of my "confidence" of where the level of the trojan program for the next "5" years is going to be.....anyone who knows me knows that i do not gamble...heck, when i go to vegas it is for the buffet.... as far as dburg coaches go, i think i am a little closer to the program than you...and yes...the teams have in "general" overachieved for the most part.... SHOOTER, as far as me being a transplant - what does that have to do with anything? you may not be aware but let me educate you on something! some of your coaches at dyer cnty are "transplants"..... a lot kids at dchs are "transplants", as is the same at dburg.... the rivalry and the hipe between dc and dburg is nothing compared to many other inter-cnty rivalries in this state.... it is unfortunate that you have not experienced "life" outside of "dyer cnty"....you really should get out every now and then.... and i agree with coach tw....let's support both systems this year.....i hope that both the chocs and trojans represent all of dyer cnty well and they both make it to the boro...... they both already do that in academics as both systems are consistently in the top group of schools in the state....... so, west tennessee.... bring it on as the trojans and chocs are ready for ya! [Edited by mg on 11-19-02 10:33A]
  4. careful here overtime....you do not want your true colors to show..."freudlin slip" you do not know as much about trojan sports as you claim... dburg boys team does in fact have the "horses" this year... they have the most athleticism i have seen in 10 years... regarding "talent", the football and basketball coaches have done an outstanding job with what they have...if anything they usually overachieve.... also lets give dc girls some credit....they have a shot at beating dburg girls...this is a young lady trojan team......i also think the dburg boys have a legitimate chance of beating dc...the only difference between the teams is that dc will field a starting 5 that will play well together...dburg will have much more depth...the deciding factor just may be the "team play" which this early in the season favors the chocs... i have not seen any post here regarding "pathetic" comments made between dburg vs dc... personally, i enjoy "picking at" and getting "picked at" by fans and coaches...i guess that is the competition in me, afterall this is a sports message board and you should expect fans to get after each other....maturity, well that is your opinion as well....have not seen any definition on how to measure maturity...for me, just give me my toys.... you are correct however in that each school/students should support each other...until they play each other...then it is war with no prisoners [Edited by mg on 11-18-02 12:11P]
  5. that is correct....next year he is a senior...
  6. tony.....well, i can't say a whole lot to that...cause there is some truth to that shooter......regarding jones, my information came from a coach in tipton cnty who works with his father and spoke to him about his plans.....the coach was either telling the truth or not telling the truth...take it however you want too but since it did not come from the father directly to me, i would urge caution on accepting it.... the coach indicated that jones more than likely would play out his senior season at home with covington... **UPDATE friday 4:20P...it appears that a news release may be issued in the very near future, like 5P today...that jones will be named as the new principal at northview middle in newbern... regarding his son, my information regarding him staying at covington for his senior year was told to me early this summer......that may have changed since then....he may very well being coming to Dyer Cnty..... just wanted to you updated [Edited by mg on 11-15-02 4:27P]
  7. welcome jcm jeff...do you play for the cougars? if so what is your #? who is your new coach? the cougars should have a pretty decent team this year...who is going to be some of your key players?
  8. it appears that dburg may be without the services of its point guard this year as that he will not play his senior season.... it is a shame as he was probably going to be one of the top point guards in the region...... and regarding the jones kid, his father was being considered for a admin position at the new northview jr high in newbern...... however sources close to him in covington where he currently works reported that if he took the position, that his kid would either attend dburg high or remain in covington for his senior season [Edited by mg on 11-14-02 5:45P]
  9. crazyvol....you are missing the point...this is not about style of hair...it is about a choice... if a kid thinks his hair style is more important than team rules, well too bad....he made the choice, not the program.... the analogy that you use does nothing but prove what is wrong with many young people and adults..... you care more about yourself, how you look, possessions that you have, what you wear, etc.. than the bigger picture...it should be what can i do for you or the team, vs what can you do for me... think about it.... i got kicked off the team because the coach would not let (ME) wear my hair the way (I) wanted it... i got arrested for selling drugs because (I) had to do that to survive i got suspended from school because (I) was not going to let that teacher disrespect (ME)..... again, good job coach....you are doing something that many parents don't know how to do......that is TEACH YOUR CHILDREN WELL.....
  10. tony, be careful here, after all, you should not throw any stones in that glass house you live in also welcome back..... i was apparently lied to or misinformed...i was told that your admin took away your coacht privileges.... [Edited by mg on 11-14-02 1:51P]
  11. lexington looked improved this year over last year... they have several good ball handlers....they (lex) should be excited about this season... regarding dburg, and not taking anything away from lexington, dburg coach never played more than 2 or 3 starters on the floor at one time, mostly played with just 2 starters.....why? can't tell why coaches do the things that they do...that is why they get paid the big bucks...i am sure that he had his reasons.....10 ball players from dburg ended up with about the same amount of playing time in the four quarters..... regarding match ups for jamboree.... dyer cnty vs jax northside dyersburg vs south fulton halls-jcm brighton-obion best match-up is dyer cnty vs northside...that should be a great two quarters between 2 good teams....
  12. congrats coach....you are doing the right thing...basketball is a team sport...there is no place for individualism..... these are team rules.... our coach has the same rules when the players are in practice or in transent to a game...plus a few more...that is no long hair, no shaved heads, no ear rings, no jewelry, no facial hair...shirts have to be tucked in... when they come into a gym...the fans always comment how disciplined they appear..... first impressions are important.... again..great job coach...too much me, me and i, i today in society....

    TJ

stephen mtsu.......get back to class.....tj could not play at mtsu cause he was not a prop player......he actually could pass some courses....
  14. 3133....it says you posted at 1211.......why is u ain't in schooooo!!!!!!!! the reason i say that dburg will be good this year..... the 6'8 post has been moved...even though he is 6'8, his greatest strength and contribution is shooting the three...he is a very good outside shooter...how do you guard a 6'8 person playing the (3) position..... dburg will feature two players that have not been seen...they will have two good post players in 6'5 j barnett and 6'4 dirty dave.....these players will be a strong force... another plus will be j taylor who over the summer has grown to 6'3...he has worked hard and has increased his range to about 3 or 4 feet behind the arc....this group also features 3 other quality atheletes to go with them.... Dyersburg, Dyer County, and Jax Northside will all have very strong teams.... toss it up.....
  15. tj, i talked to the coach (hamilton) and he stated that his key players were all there... hamilton looked like a college team...their size and speed did not look like any high school team..... i would have to say that hamilton is def a top three shelby AAA squad......i may be mistaken, but is one of their post players not a D1 prospect?..... one of their fans was telling that so i am not to sure about it.... the reason dburg played them so close was that dburg made them play half court.....the regulation score was in the low 40's...if they had tried to run with them, well it might of been totaly different.....

    My "dismissal"

i as told by a coach in dist 14 that he went to either washington dc or washington state.... not sure which that has not been confirmed but that is the hot rummor out of dist 14.....maybe someone else could check and find out if that is true or not....
  17. i am sure that hubbie smith, brian brown, anthony gilcrest and my little buddy at bolton are all glad that the winner and loser is decided on the floor....and not fans on the site...... i'll make sure that they all get that post..... they will get a good laugh out of it........ as far as dyer cnty beating dburg....dyer cnty will be a better team in the fall, while dburg will be a better team come january......you may be right on that, but again, you may be wrong..... i personally think it will be a great game... as far as northside goes, they do have great talent, but so what, i have seen many teams with great talent that did nothing.....poor coaching, poor execution, no team concept, and i have seen teams with little to no talent overachieve simply cause they were a team, they executed well, were team players, a family with no "i".... no game will be decided here, the games will be won and lost on the court...talent, execution, team and coaching will all play a part in the outcome....
  18. i did not mean to offend you nsindian, but just stating the obivious from most coaches view point... i have been a fan of this region for 18 years.... i can tell you that bartlett, bolton, hardin cnty and dyersburg are the best coached teams in this region....they execute and defend better than the other teams.....without a doubt, bartlett by far executes on both sides of the ball better than most teams than i have seen... the best bball coach that northside has is joe north....his teams have always executed and played well on both sides... that is just my opinion...

    My "dismissal"

Although i do not know b/f personally, sources close to the program attest he is very bright and intelligent...... i also know coach smith...he is no doubt an outstanding coach....without question, he knows how to get it done.... i will not stoop so low to call a young man, who believes in what he is doing (whether right or wrong), a disgrace to his family......that is a horrible thing to say.... the person who said that should be ashamed.... a strong spirit is a gift, most coaches will tell you that...the hard part is channeling that spirit in the right direction...sometimes you can, sometimes you cannot.... [Edited by mg on 10-28-02 3:09P]
  20. i do not believe that northside should be the only team favored to win the district.... first, dyersburg won the regular season district last year and dyersburg returns a much stronger team this year...dburg will be much larger than jaxns, and as athletic.....the difference will be in the coaching....dburg has a much better coaching staff.... ..since ben has left bartlett, and pete from bolton has moved, then dburg and jaxns should be strong contenders for the region as well... anyting can happen, shoot hardin cnty might win the district.... dburg and jaxns, on paper, will battle for the crown..... My "dismissal"

it is obvious after reading his (bf) own words here on this thread, that he did do the right thing for him and that it was best for both him and the team that he left.... it is clear that (bf) has a strong spirt of individulaism...this type of personaility is difficult to deal with, both from the player and coaches perspective, in competitive sports... most competitive sport programs are run like a ship, you have many members who comprise a team and they all have to contribute, but there is one captain and only one captain....it is his way or the highway....that is how it works, not only here, but in the real world as well.... if you work for a company...then you will work for the "man"... many young people, and still many adults have a hard time understanding this concept..... a deomocracy only occurs when you have the right to vote for who and what you want...a team is not a deomocracy.... i am not saying that (bf) or the coach did anything wrong.. however i do appauld this young man for standing for what he believes in, right or wrong, i think that took courage on your part.... my only suggestion is, make sure that you learned someting positive from your experience......
  22. 1) Where are you from originally? Winchester 2) Where are you living now? Dyersburg 3) What do you do for a living? Public Safety Communications Director (http://cody.cityofdyersburg.org/eoc/) 4) Which school(s) do you support? Mostly Dyersburg and Dyer County Schools.. 5) Where did you go to school (high school, college, etc.) Franklin Cnty High class of 78, then on to MIT (that's motlow in tullahoma), Dyersburg State and MTSU 6) If you have kids, where are they in school at and what, if any, sports do they participate in? Have 4 unoffical(for IRS purposes) - adopted children, one now coaches basketball near knoxville, one that coaches basketball in the boro, one is student teaching now at UT Martin and hopes to be a high school basketball coach and the other is a freshmen quarterbackack at Campbellsville University, hopes to be a high school football coach.... 7) What other message boards/web sites do you frequently visit? newspapers, sports, and tech related, 8) What are your favorite college and pro teams/sports? college is #1, mostly UT, but support all SEC teams, and of course the titans in ftball, starting to loose intrest in pro-basketball...wonder why 9) How did you find out about coacht.com? prep talk...several years ago 10)How many coacht.com posters are there whose identities you know of? a few [Edited by mg on 10-19-02 12:11A]
  23. after reading the news article posted today on coacht...it has become clear as we have more information..... this incident was not presented to the grand jury, but was prosecuted by the Shelbyville Police Dept, most likely at the request of the family.....the articile did not indicate who actually signed the warrant.... could this be a trend........ are we seeing a sign of change in high school football..... many coaches are watching and wondering.... what will high school football be like in 20 years..... no more "contact" because it is to "violent"..........i guess flag football will be the game of the future.... and of course, the favorite undergarment will be pink boxers.....
  24. ELA......you hit the nail on the head.... i believe that you and I both suspect that justice is not the motivation here.... a civil suit against a government entity has a tort limit and that limit is very low...since this is a minor injury...then the amount recovered will be much less than the tort limit.... and the attorney will get at least 35% of that.... this will be paid by the schools insurance carrier...warren cnty will be out nothing but the deductible....this matter will be settled quickly and out of court....... but remember this.....when you sue your school, police dept, etc.. you are actually suing your parents, neighbors and anyone else in your community who pays property taxes....they are the ones that ultimately end up paying....
  25. well said scout.. like i said, too many people today wear pink panties....
