  1. You cannot make posts like this one and not expect people to think that you are making excuses! If you were not making excuses why say that we were missing 2 players. That in and alone sounds like an excuse for losing the game. The fact is that DC is a very good team, but not as dominant as last year. They can probably win their district tourney by just showing up, but when the regional comes around they had better bring their "A" game every night or there will be a lot of DC fans that will be hammered by people on this board.
  2. Beware to both teams! There is a LOT of basketball to be played before anyone starts cutting down nets. I think it is fair to say that if the state champion does not come from West TN it will be an upset. The competition in W TN is much better than the rest of the state. As for Mr. Basketball, Brian Fisk should get it. At the beginning of the season most would have picked Crittendon to be the one from DC to be in the running, but Fisk has done what he has done for 3 years played the game and let everything else run its course. A DC vs GC game would be very exciting and both teams would have great crowds.
  3. that if the TSSAA decides to add more punishment and if the school decides to appeal that the TSSAA can do one of three things. 1. stay with the original punishment. 2. reduce the punishment. 3. add more to the punishment. This is what I've heard and if that is the case it is not right. I think they should do either 1 or 2 but in no way should they be able to add punishment. If any of you know about this maybe you can explain. As for the DC situation. There is only one problem. They scrimmaged when they had self imposed sanctions saying the wouldn't. No if's or but's they were wrong. It does not matter what the courts have said about Brentwood. They were not supposed to scrimmage. Now the school needs to decide what they feel the punishment should be and then let the TSSAA either accept or add to the punishment. I for one would like for Butch to finish the season, but if it risks the kids chance to play in the post season then I think he needs to step down. It is a very difficult situatuion that needs to be handled ASAP, so that the team can get it all behind them
  4. when the TSSAA is going to make a ruling? It seems to me there is a lot of assuming what is going to happen. Why not wait until the TSSAA does somthing or why doesn't the DC administration push the issue to get this put behind them one way or another.
  5. An interesting rumor has surfaced. Dyer Co. may try to lure Coach Cisco out of retirement for the remainder of the season. What do y'all think? Is that a possibility? I've also heard that Coach Stark's has been told he will not get the title. Comments?
  6. Altshauf, I was wondering how long it would take you to respond. I didn't know if you had the late intra-mural basketball game or if you were home from college and your momma made you go to bed at 9.
  7. IF Butch is gone after tomorrow night who coaches the Choctaw's the rest of the season? Will it be Lonnie Starks or is he going to be brought down in this also. Maybe it will be Coachinhoops. That would give new life to this board for a while. Anyone have any inside iformation or thoughts? (other than Altshauf...he has no clue.) [Edited by overtime on 12-19-02 7:33P]
  8. Altshauf, After reading all of your posts I want to thank you. You have proved my point that you are a jealous former Dyersburg player. I will no longer respond to your immature posts.
  9. You are missing my point. I do not blame Dyersburg for all of DC's problems. They have allegedly done wrong and IF the TSSAA agrees then punishment needs to be handed out. If you will look at many of my previous posts I've said that the coaching staff and admininstration need to be the ones to take the fall. I've even said the quickest and easiest answer would probably be for Hopkins to resign. I do not want to see Brian and Montrelle miss out on the post season of their senior years because of the mistakes of adults. Your point about Jeremy Taylor's incident not having any thing to do with the program itself proves my point about Crittendon. His actions with the jersey had nothing to do with the program. Since you were born with a ball in your hands are you playing at the next level? The fact is that you are a still wet behind the ears college freshman who thinks he has the world figured out, I can remember when I thought the same, but the real world will humble you quickly and it is often not pleasant. Good luck with your career I hope it is all that you think it will be.
  10. Did you play? It is apparent that you are looking for a little post high school revenge because DC had their way with you the last few years. You have no idea what kind of discipline goes on behuind the scenes at DC. Last year Hopkins set Cyrus for 2 games for missing practice. Butch and DC have done wrong, they have and will be punished. Dyersburg has a good program, but they are not perfect. You will never suceed as a coach if you are not willing to give players a chance to make a mistake and LEARN from it. Wasn't Jeremy Taylor involved in an on court altercation last season? Yes he was. According to you he should have been dismissed from the team, but thankfully Coach Brown allowed him to stay on and hopefully he will get the opportunity to further his education because of it. You cannot run a program like Woody Hayes used to.
  11. What planet are you living on. The TSSAA does not take complaints from fans seriously. They just file them away. The complaints have to come from a school adminstrator or coach. If Joe Fan calls Ronnie Carter he listens politely and forgets it. I stated earlier that I do not have any Hard Proof of any wrong doings by Dyersburg, but Dyer Co. has had a thick file on them for a number of years, but they chose to not do anything with it. I am sure Dyersburg has had stuff on DC for year, but waited until DC was at the top to do anything. I hope that the integrity of the TSSAA is not such that Ronnie Carter would allow his buddy Sam Miles to influence his descisions, but I do know that Sam Miles is not the goody two shoes that you think he is. I do agree that DC needs a full time AD like Dyersburg has,but your AD is not a saint. Come on you are one of the ones that can't wait for DC to get hammered on this. Alshauf, Montrelles attitude is no worse than some of the Dyersburg players. You don't have a clue as to what you are talking about. The only thing that needs to happen in this situation is that Butch needs to resign, just to stop all of this stuff and let the student atheletes get back to playing a GAME. That is all this is about a GAME.
  12. I have never said I have any proof of any wrong doings with Dyersburg. I do think that there has probably been some illegal contact by coaches. What I said was I didn't want to see the student atheletes at DC punished. If there is a problem let the Coach and adminstration take the punishment. atlshauf, be careful saying what you will and won't do when you are just one year out of HS. Never say never, I think players can be disciplined without being removed from the team. Montrelle's best chance in life is getting a college degree from basketball. It would have been a shame for a coach to take that away from him as a freshman because of a stupid mistake. If Butch had gotten rid of him I bet Dyersburg would have welcomed him with open arms. 13. Dyer Co. hasn't gotten away with anything. They have been punished for recruiting, for the fight and I really think that the punishment was too harsh for the crime. The TSSAA (Sam Miles?) did everything they could to make it as hard for Dyer Co. to get back to the 'Boro as possible, but the team prevailed. Kenia, unless you are a kid in high school, you need to GROW UP if you want to see innocent student athletes punished for the mistakes of their coaching staff. I have posted on several occasions that IF there has been a violation by the coaching staff then Butch should be the one to suffer the penalty.
  14. I wish everyone who is so eagerly awaiting the ruling from the TSSAA would stop and think who is going to suffer the most from all of this. There are some on here who are hoping that Dyer Co. gets the death penalty. Whatever sanctions, if any are taken, the ones who will suffer the most are the student athletes and that is not somthing to be excited about. I know some of you are just kids yourself, but there are some that are adults and for you to be so caught up in all of this that you would want a young persons athletic future ruined is PATHETIC. You know who you are and you really need to get a life. The answer to all of this is IF the TSSAA has a reason to discipline the program it is the coaches and possibly the administration that should be punished. Even if it means the coaching staff resigning or being let go. If the TSSAA does not find enough to do anything I hope that some of you will get on here and offer an appolgy to the DC students and fans. Now I know that there are some over zealous DC fans that need to grow up and they to need to offer an appolgy if the TSSAA rules against DC. The boys basketball players nor any of the other sports should have to pay the price if there really has been a problem.
