  1. The Jackson Sun started previewing all the West Tennessee (excluding Memphis) soccer districts. Here is a sports writers' opinion: http://bit.ly/2mYIyV
  2. Here is a blog at The Jackson Sun that talks about the new classifications in West Tennessee girls' soccer: http://www.jacksonsun.com/apps/pbcs.dll ... sonsun.com Here is a blog from the same person about the new rule changes: http://www.jacksonsun.com/apps/pbcs.dll ... sonsun.com
  3. So early games and no state experience do not lead to 17 first half turnovers combined.
  4. You can not seriously call this basketball. Both of these teams are terrible. I know 5th grade teams that look better than these two.
  5. Casey Prather is called for four fouls in the game. All four were charges. I have seen probably 50+ game sthis year across West Tennessee and I can count on one hand the number of times I have seen four charges in a game much less on one player. The same was happening to Hudson from Dyer County. He got hot and the refs started calling charges on him. I mean Prather played nine and a half minutes in the game total and scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds. It looks to me that when he was actually in the game, Dyer County could not stop him. And I got the number of mintues played from North Side's official stat keeper. After the game, the Dyer County radio guy told me that if Prather would have played all night that NS would have blown the Choctaws away. Just unfortunant that the refs had to decide this game. Dyer County fans cannot truly say this is how they wanted this game decided.
  6. North Side's Casey Prather did drop 50 point for the Indians to beat Fayette-Ware in overtime. Fayette-Ware is not push over either. They are always athletic. They have two players playing the NCAA right now. Desmond Yates at MTSU, who scored 31 the other night, and Frank Holmes at UAB. He is a great prospect that college coaches are already looking at and he is just a sophomore.
  7. There is no way that USJ is better than North Side. USJ did not even make it out of regionals last year. I would flip-flop those 2 and you are right. And to add, one of USJ's forwards is hurt for half the season. I think it is Connor Adkins.
  8. Nebuntyn, Dexter is not a cry baby at the refs because he has them in his back pocket. The Dyer Co./Liberty game was rigged. The scorekeeper is incompetent even Dexter will say so. She could not keep the score correct if the final score was 2-0. When a player fouls out with 4 fouls, YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT!!! Just becuase Liberty has won two state titles in the past two years does not mean that Liberty is the basketball powerhouse is the West. Dyer County has a much more storied tradition. And if you remember, North Side was the first boys team from Jackson to make the state championship and we did it in Class AAA. We also did it bak-to-back years but ran into powerhouses White Station and Ridgeway. Don't get too cocky Liberty because you are not the bast around.
  9. I have been waiting for somone to bring this up. But since no has.... I will. In the Class A-AA semifinal on Thursday at CCS, Doug Sena (the center ref) called a PK with less then 10 minutes to go in the match. At the time, CCS was winning 1-0. Rita Spellings for CPA converted the PK to tie the game, and then 1:13 later Rita Spellings scored on a cross for the game-winning goal. Was the PK the correct call?? Sena, a ref from Jackson, called a hold in the box. No one went down the flow of play did not really change. I did not see the foul and I do not think Sena was in position to make the call either. The call changed the momentum of the game. Sena makes calls like that all the time in West Tenn to ruin games, now East Tennessee got a taste of him. I do not want to take anything away from CPA. They are a great team, that fought hard all the way to the end of the match. Spellings is a great athlete. Give your feedback.
  10. Matt, You are so right. Shoot outs are nerve racking. But it was a great match and both teams fought hard. They both deserved to win. And Coniglio, this is who you think it is!!! Your new friend from Jackson. Michael
  11. JCS beat Dyersburg, 3-0, on a rain soaked field.
  12. An unforgettable experienced? North Side played toe-to-toe with CCS in every facet of the game. NS just had a few bad clearances that CCS was able to take advantage of. North Side also had alot more class. CCS fans were whining the entire game about calls on a game that I thought was very well officiated. North Side did not complain a bit was complimented after the game on their sportmanship and class. CCS was no better than North Side. If the two were to play four times, they would split 2-2. CCS played hard and won the game fairly, but North Side showed that they belonged with the eleite teams in Tennessee.
  13. Congrats North Side on all that you accomplished. You represented West Tennessee very well. You played hard the entire game, and lost with class. You showed alot of class out their on the field and even though you lost you kept your heads up. I have enjoyed watching you guys this season and wish each of you the best in the future, and I cant wait for next year. You showed East Tennessee that we will no longer lay down to them. West Tennessee does have some excellent soccer and you showed last night.
  14. North Side sets the tone early with a goal and wins 2-1.
  15. I am not saying that 11 a.m. is not an unreasonable time. THe point I was trying to make is that the game time set by North Side was not unreasonable. If the shoe was on the other foot and Haywood would have been hosting and set the game time to 11 a.m. and North Side would have needed it moved, the result would have been the same. The game time is set by the home school bottom line. I know that North Side did not want to enter state this way, but that is how it happened.
