Can Wartburg beat Lenoir City two times in a row?

I guess im like every other person on here that has posted because I thought it was a heck of a game, too. Both teams played very hard. Both O.S. and Wartburg had key players out of the game, but both sides had guys step up. Wartburg just outlasted O.S.. We will most likely see these two teams head to head again.

The only thing that killed the dogs was that Kennesaw had 12 people who could start anyday for that team. Wartburg's bench is very deep and talented, but when you have a team like Kennesaw whose bench was just as good as their starters then thats hard to beat. Despite the bench disadvantage, Wartburg played a VERY GOOD game. Everyone that got playing time in that game made plays on both sides of the ball as well as rebounded. They went on a cold spurt and nothing fell for them in the last part of the third quarter and the first part of the fourth quarter. Even though they didn't come out on top I think that they proved to alot of people today that they can compete for late round appearance in the state or possibly a state title. The problem is, like phillip said, good teams now just play as well they need to to get a win. Overall the dogs looked like a very good basketball team. If they can play like that against everyone they'll be hard to beat. I haven't seen cosby, temple, grace, middleton, summertown, or any of the other top teams in 1a, but I think that if the dogs can compete with a VERY WELL coached and talented team from Georgia then they can compete with the teams around here. This was a good thing for the dogs. Even though they didnt get the win I think the dogs earned some respect and gained confidence. I look for the dogs to play to their best ability from now on. Should be a good game everyone that can come watch two very good ball teams play head to head. Oh yeah, the dogs lost 75-62.

Who did Cosby lose to and how bad?

Why does vespie have to keep coming up? He's gone. Wartburg seems to be doing just fine without him (6-0).

I agree phillip. If there is anyone that can have a chance at beating Wartburg it would be Cosby. Rockwood, O.S., and Harriman are three very talented teams but i think Wartburg will come out with a win against all three teams.

Wartburg is undefeated before the christmas break for the first time in coach layne's career at wartburg. Can they be beat? If so by whom (not counting the christmas tournaments)?

How does everyone think Wartburg will do against Pickett County? I heard they were a pretty good team? After coming off the big 3a win against Lenior City, the bulldogs should have thier confidence up and play a really good christmas tournament. I just hope that they don't get it up too high and think that they can run over everyone because Kennesaw Mountain will be a rude awakening. I don't think that will happen, but it's high school basketball baby! Anything can happen! Best of Luck Bulldogs!

I think that the Lenoir City win said alot for this wartburg team. I thought that this would be their toughest test, besides kennesaw mtn., and I figured if wartburg was going to prove themselves it would be that game. They definitely proved that they can play as a TEAM. I have got to give hats off to Anthony Rogers for knocking down those free throws coming off the bench. Just like you said Dogs 101 every single person played together as a team and stepped up big time! Congratulations dogs! Keep it up! GO DOGS!!!!!!

Yea they play Lenoir City on Monday, and that is the last game until the 27th. On the 27th, 28th, and 29th, they go to harrriman for the christmas tournament where they play Kennesaw Mtn., Pickett Co., and Cannon Co.

Well put Phillip. Rockwood is a very talented team, but if you don't play defense against them or any good shooting team like Wartburg and Rockwood, then they're going to give you fits. People talk about how good of an offensive team Wartburg is; what they dont mention is their defensive intensity. Coalfield is the only team to score over fifty so far in their season; that should tell how well the bulldogs are playing defense. I know they have only played Midway, Sunbright, Greenback, and Coalfield, and they are not too well shooting the ball, but in 4 of the last 5 games holding their opponent to under 50 tells me that Wartburg can play on both sides of the ball. I think Rockwood will be Wartburg's biggest test in the regular season too, but they won't be big enough. Wartburg wins 73-64. Good Luck Dogs!

I agree w/ ya CHS. All of Wartburgs' freshman this year will learn alot from the group that they have now, and i think all they will do is get better as they go. I think they'll be a team to watch not only this year but for the next couple of years also. Best of Luck! P.S. hey bongy the shannons are not overrated and to me caleb is quite impressive to be a freshman.

How does everyone think the dogs will do against coalfield? Wartburg- 70 Coalfield- 58 I have wartburg by 12 because i dont think coalfield has enough talent to stay with the dogs and i think the dogs will have a very good night just because it is coalfield. Good luck to both teams!

The first half of the midway game gave some folks a scare. Midway ran with the dogs for the first half and most of the third. I didnt think the dogs played to their full potential tuesday night. What amazes me though is that even though wartburg had an off night, i guess you could say, they still put up 69 points and held their opposition to 48. Their defense was great. They struggled on offense though. It seemed like there was a lid on the rim, nothing was falling for the dogs, but as i said it amazes me that despite their struggle on offense the still put up good points. I think the dogs will be alrite. They should learn from this game and improve. GO DAWGS!!!

I havent seen alot of teams play in east tennessee but dont be surprised if you see the Wartburg Bulldogs in BORO. GO DAWGS!!!

I agree with all of youns. I think wartburg will takeover that game fast. I hope to see the freshman get some playin time. I pick wartburg by 20. GO Dawgs!

Just like Iceburg said i think they did play hard, and i think they'll learn from that experience. I think they'll do really good against those Greenwaves and bring home the W tuesday night. Good Luck Dawgs!

I think the dogs will do pretty good. I dont know what Midway has, but i think the dogs will pull out the win by at least 15 or 20, they may win worse than that it just depends on their attitudes and how well they play TOGETHER. Good luck Dawgs!
