Having played under Coach Parkey for four years, I believe I have the right to say that he was an outstanding coach. Yes there were times when he made me mad as well as everyone else, but what coach doesn't step on his/her players' toes every once in a while? But what happened in practice stayed in practice. When you would see or talk to him outside of basketball he was one of the nicest and funniest people you will meet. Even if you didn't like playing for him you couldn't disagree that he was a good coach. Out of four years i have not once see a time when he wasn't respectable to those who deserve it. But just like you have to earn playing time on the court, you have to first earn his respect before he will give it to you. I know of the instance both bball35 and t_hat44 talk about and was also present at the game. But who is to say which side is right. Having both sides of the story, maybe both coaches were at fault. I do know that Coach Parkey apologized to his players for acting that way and said that it wasn't acceptable behavior. All in all, Parkey will be a missed coach in the school and in the district; and it will be hard to replace him.

Yes I am certain that it is Coach Vannoy, and i am almost positive that gapgirl2005 is his daughter Jenna. How else would she know so much about him, his game strategy, and all the stats? Bball35, would you happen to play basketball and softball for Pigeon Forge??

Cheated??? Yes, the refs weren't the best in the world but in NO way did they favor claiborne!!! The only reason the gap girls had more fouls in the 2nd half is because they were down and needed the ball back, so they played the fouling game the last 2 min. The first half fouls were pretty much equal. And by the way, you want to talk about the refs helping, how about the Cumberland Gap and G-P girls game, 2nd half fouls alone G-P with 16 and CG with 3??? Would it really hurt you to admit that Claiborne girls are a better team as they always have been. Considering that your gap girls have never beaten claiborne girls from 6th grade on... OH, and if you want to talk about the boys game and your clay bisceglia, go to the boys message board...

I really don't see this game as an upset. Claiborne beat AC this past summer and although they have improved a tremendous amount, i still picked Claiborne to win. Even though Claiborne doesn't have standout players they all play together well which contributes to their success. So I don't blame Coach Parkey for staying in claiborne county, he has created a great program and some how always keeps his teams close to the top. Who are you mrv1?
