  1. There had to be rules defining financial aid prior to the creation of D2. Prior to D2, there were limits to the number of athletes receiving financial aid who could participate in a given sport.

Yes the limit was 14 for the whole school in all sports, with certain numbers per sport, I think like football was limited to 3, One big private had like 93 when they got put out of one the state sport tournaments

  2. This is my understanding of the rule. Was curious how long this has been the rule, whether it has ever been challenged and whether it is likely to change. Thanks

When DII was created, the rule was put in place, and may have been before the split, I don't know, but what the really big private schools do is to give a kid way more then he needs in the freshman year, thus good to go after setting out freshman year.

  3. Forrest does not have a Jr. pitcher, Shelby Stinnett is a sophmore and has not committed to anyone. You must be thinking of Trinity who has the Renfroe girls who have committed to UT. Infact, Karen and Ralph Wheatly were there Fri. nite to see Forrest pound out a 10-4 win. The win today is special for everyone who has worked so hard to become one of the best public schools out there. We have come close several times and have been put out by privates each time. However, hard work, determination, playing physical and taking on any school that wants to play, builds the kind of character that will carry you thru tough games. Today, all that hard work was rewarded.

Now could you please tell the rest of the public schools that hard work, determination, play physical and taking on all any school that wants to play really does pay off in any sport!! Darn the secret is out!

  4. This is the third year we have been in DI, no one has ever been recruited to KCHS while we were in DII or DI. we were placed in DII because kids getting help from their parishes (Church) to attend KCHS. We have and always will be above the table, we are Knoxville CATHOLIC High School not Baylor or McCallie or any other rich boy school

    That is fact not opinion.

  5. I guess one could look at it like that, but "Private" schools and "Parochial' are really not in it for the money. infact anyone in education would know its not for the money.

Its about fairness, how is fair for a 1.8 multiplier for all private schools, that don't give scholarships, It is not up to the TSSAA to decide who is in or not, aslong as schools fallow the rules.

go teachem public schools, teach your youth, if you can't win, just go legislate a championship, water down and try to force the "competion" out. Don't try teaching them work ethic, decipline, or dedication

  6. First of all, The Knoxville area and East Tennessee, are hot beds for soccer, you have an unusal situation where Bearden, Farragut, KCHS and CAK are all within 10 miles of each other, they are all drawing off of great club teams in west knoxville, no one is cheating, they just have a lot of good players in west knoxville......end of discussion.
