I would think there are less than twenty public high schools that really pay well (70,000 plus). Coaching at a big program opens more doors than a small one. An East TN coach would make more sense unless they will be able to find a position for a middle or west tn coach to start right away.

One would think this job would draw a lot of interest. Talent, location and a large stage. This is the kind of job with success will propel you into the upper echelon of public school jobs.

What is West and Clinton's time frame? Have someone in place before spring semester or sometime during the spring?

Sounds like you all will play twice a year for the next four years and the rest of the region is playing for 3rd place.

Why do small ball coaches have difficulty making the jump to the 5A/6A programs? I know there are some exceptions. I know of several successful small ball coaches who have been successful mentioned as applicants for the bigger jobs but yet get passed over. Other threads mention that larger school systems sometimes will not hire small school coaches. Is there a stigma? What are your thoughts?

I do not like that some schools hire non-certified folks to be a head coach. I know I am in the minority though.

There is also a chance that Humboldt and/or Lake County who traditionally have good athletes figure something out and give a rebuilding/reloading Dresden a run for their money. It looks like Dresden will be hit very hard by graduation. Who will fill Yates and Winn's shoes? Will anyone come close to that kind of production?
