  1. I gave Columbia the benefit of the doubt after yesterday's game. I have to doubt a close game Monday after witnessing what I witnessed on Saturday. They (Columbia) can make a believer out of me if they keep the game within 12. I expected more from Columbia after the last couple of years. I'm a huge fan of Stratford so I vividly remember what Columbia did to my beloved Spartans. Good luck anyhow!
  2. NOOOOO WAY!!! I watched Columbia play yesterday and heard the complaints of some of their fans about questionable calls from the refs. The entire time they never concentrated on the fact that their team either can't shoot at all or they had an horrific day shooting on yesterday. I chose the previous. I saw the forward/ center (?Gray) miss at least, to be save, 5 cribs!!!!!!!! In saying this, I hope thatthe young man who injured himself makes a full and SUCCESSFUL recovery. God bless him.
  3. DITTO! Terry Watson showed young inner city kids the true essence of FUNDAMENTAL BASKETBALL. Terry and my godmother worked together for years and I had the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of basketball from Terry. In the time of dunking, Terry made a lay up look just as cool and simple. He will be greatly missed in North, South, East, and West Nashville.
  4. Stratford...... Point Guard- Ronnie Sharp Shooting Guard- Sandy McClain Small Forward- Reggie Moore Power Foward- Cory Fleming (FLem Flam) Center- Bernard Womack (would've handled Henderson Kelly if East would not have closed) 2nd team..... Point Guard- Greg Jones Shooting Guard- DeMarco Polk Small Forward- Ray Watkins Power Forward- Maddux (I guess) Center- Henderson Kelly
  5. O.K. T-Man, but you still didn't answer my question about them beating you all. Did it happen?
  6. Didn't East boys get beat by Whites Creek's freshman Gio, I mean GB32?
  7. We participated in mainly MAYB and AAU Tourneys. We also ran a couple of games in the MLK tourney. We are finished for the year, but opefully we'll scrimmage a couple of local high school teams, as we keep contact with our girls' coaches. Shanice is 5'11. She is 15 years of age. Why do you ask her age?
  8. Shanice Brown plays for the Tennessee Lady Hawks Travel Team. She has exceptional upside. She plays with and against some of the better plays around the country. Along side her are players such as Taviunna Mayberry (Hunters Lane), Brittany Abernathy (MLK), Ashley McDonald (Hunters Lane) Lakresha Coppage (Pearl-Cohn). The team travels from tourney to tourney around the country. This year the team played in tourneys in TN, KY, IN, AL, LA, MO. We will have players from MO and Texas on the team next year. Shanice has the potential to be very good and we'll continue to work to get her and the rest of the young ladies there.

I am with GameFaces, which is a marketing agency for professional players, such as Eddie George, Keith Bulluck, Ron Slay etc. These players, just mentioned, are sponsoring a celebrity charity basketball game and I wanted to know if he might be interested in entering the slam dunk contest. There is a financial gift for winning the contest. You or he can email me ASAP @ a_toran@hotmail.com.

Is there anyone who might know how to get in contact with Tyler or he get in contact with me. [Edited by at on 5-2-03 8:55A]
  12. Doc still doing his thing! I attended the game last night because I've always enjoyed watching Doc coach, even when I played against his teams back in the late 80's and early 90's.
  13. Cobra, Guy you made people at this resort look at me as if I were CRAZY!)))) Pick you up a mix tape:-)))!! That had me ROLLING!! Man, I definitely would do that for you had you told me before I got out to Long Island. I stayed in Manhattan for three days before coming out here for a conference. I don't think that I'll be going back into Manhattan before I leave but if I do I will be sure to pick up some mix tapes for you and me both, because I forgot about those tapes. Man, things, well clothing, shoes, jewelry, etc are soooo much cheaper up here! But I still day that PC was a better team. They were a throw back!!! Man hit me up on the e so we can meet up; a_toran2@yahoo.com. Jamont was incognito when his father passed away.
  14. HAAHAHAHAHA:-))) Of course those in that area of town are going to support your view. No, you all got beat one year at the Arby's Classic by the same team that you all could NEVER beat; SCIENCE HILL. Every Great team has it's nemesis and for you all it was Sciience Hill. No, the first semester of 87 at East we beat Ewing Park by 30 points at East. The second semester they beat us by 7 and in the city they beat us by 4. They ended up get demoralized by Bass. We ended up beating the TAR of Jamont Wade and Bellevue. We talk later, because I'm in NYC as I speak.
  15. rltaylor, I'm going to have to formally meet you at the barber shop(David Taylor's) Listen for the name Taviunna Mayberry(will be playing some varsity for H.L.) Brittany Abernathy(will be playing varsity for a hurting MLK team if she doesn't transfer to H.L.). I'm bias, because these are my GIRLSSS! Ms. Taylor can definitely handle her business. Taylor can you contact me through David Taylor?
  16. Panthergame, WALTER Whitwoth!!!!! HE was NNNNNNNNNNNNice!!!! I remember watching him when I was in the 7 and 8th garde. He played low to the ground and was very quick. I happen to play with him at the Cleveland Center one time and he seemed to be very mild tempered, so it was a real pleasure to play with him.
  17. Cobrafan90, I'm saying this with a big smile and respecting your view also, but there is no way that that W.C. was better:-) I played against that team for 4 years, well actually 5 years because I played against the same guys when I played for East Jr High. David Vaughn had to be the most overrated player in Nashville. Sims had to be the most underrated. I have spoke to guys from other places throughout the state who played this team and the same conclusion is made. I vividly remember Sims hitting us(Stratford) up for 39. If Sims were to play for an opposing team of Vaughn, he would have absolutely dominated him. SIms and Frierson were there strong points and that was it. Now, I played with a guy a East who dominated both of them. His name was Micheal Henderson. The Pearl team was much better. Panthergame, I remember many of those players and happen to play freshman ball when Ray Ray played his last year at Stratford, along with Fleming and Brian, who transferred to W.C. the next year. I thought that a lot of people forgot about ole Ray!! Wasn't he a BALLER. I actually started to think that what I was seeing in those days were simply figment of my imagination, until I saw Demarco and Hassan and then everything was validated. I knew that Ray, Flem, Reggie Grimes(Stratford, not H.L), Butch Hines, etc were jumping out of the gym during those times. Butler never gets his due either, but he should. I witness him throw one down Vaughn throat at TSU one night. I'm trying not to let these years go because it doesn't seem like I'm going to see them again!!!
  18. I definitely know about Ronnie Sharp. I grew up and played with Ronnie at Stratford. He was a couple of years behind me. I witness him put it on Percy Blue regularly:-)) During those times Butler (Maplewood) and Allen Carter(W.C.), a Avery PAtton and Calvin Peters protege had good games against that Stratford team. I know that Ronnie was one of the better ones. I've been around basketball for a good number of years so I think that I can gauge some talent that comes through here. I haven't been witnessing that many throw back types of players. I do believe that Bubba Taylor will be one. I've watched him entertain the crowd, so he's on his way!!!! There hasn't been a complete throw back team since the Pearl-Cohn teams of Slay, Arvid, Terry Reynolds, Booker T., Henderson. This team was far beeter than the W.C. teams of Sims, Vaughn, Friersob, Rucker. There have been players like Kinzer. I will continue to watch
  19. It was already concluded that Ronnie Lawson was the best thing since high tops, but everything got foggy after him. I vividly remember watching Ty at East because I'm from East Nashville and you know that he is a Legend in East Nashville. The word is that Glimpse was the best pure shooter from the list though. There was also a guy from Hume Fogg that people argue of being a great baller during those times. Avery Patton usually at the bottom of the list, though ALWAYS given his props. I want to put Ronnie Sharp on that list also, definitely!!!!!
  20. I've been in a lot of Barber Shop discussions over the last couple of months and this subject can never be agreed upon. I hope that Coach Gamble is in the house. Reggie Glimpse(Cohn), Avery Patton(Glencliff), David Smith(Pearl), Sandy McClain(Stratford), Terry Howard(MAplewood), Greg Davis(Stratford), Jubal Cooper(East); Can someone rank them?
  21. RyanRowdy, Do you actually believe that Ryan would have come out of a district four out of fives years if they had've been playing in AAA; let alone win a state?
