I would have to hand it to Cariona Hassell.
  4. SwamiSays- I see that you do know a little about my Alma Mater:-) Erik Gardner was the real fullback for those teams. Fred Porter, transfer from HL, played more of a part the year after Erik graduated. Mike's speed wasn't 'centae speed, but it was decent. McGavockRaider11, don't get caught up in this because those Stratford teams were once in a blue moon for any metro team. You had 4 thousand rushers (Richard Bryant, Greg Young, Arcentae Broome, Hurk Coleman, Erik Gardner, Fred Porter) in the same year for 3 or 4 years; take your pick. That had to be the GREATEST backfield ever. Running the wing T with this caliber of players was poetry in motion, but the likes of Gallatin (unfairly called game) and Lincoln ( a very GOOd team in and of itself) were the thorns in the side of the Spartans. Again, don't ever feel that you have to compare your team or any team of today with that team, because it will never happen again anyway. GO RAIDERS!
  5. MCGavockRaider11- I must come to your defense because your a kid and pupil of a VERY good friend of mine, Coach Broome. Before I do that, I have to tell you that Broome was a Tailback and DB at Stratford (when we were still romping in metro). He was one of the horsemen. Keep your head up, ears open, and you'll be fine. You have a coach that will invest time and effort in his kids, IF THEY WANT IT. SwamiSays- I have to agree with Volfan in saying that you should be ashamed of yourself with baiting and debating with this kid. judge and knowledge isn't that thoughtout either in your assessment of the "comprehensive disaster." If there has been 1 metro that has produced a state champion (Pearl twice in the late 90's), sent a school to the state championship game (Pearl (2), Maplewood '07), then it shows that it can be done. Maplewood played in the class 4a, because of the issued enrollment of 1100 or so, but in actually Maplewood MIGHT have 875 students probably. Point of the matter, they still did it. We would have to flip to the basketball board to speak on those that have matriculated to the state championship game from Metro in the last 10 years. Again, don't make it sound as if it's not doable. If that's true, why should the kids go out anyway. Thus, you shouldn't be baffled at kids not participating. Good post Volfan PS- SwamiSays, I, as a grown man, respect your position; just disagree.
  6. Man, it has been a time since I've posted. I have been reviewing this post and it seems like one of the most genuine and productive ones. Anyhoo, I also agree that Eddy has made his mark. I wished all of last year that he would play more of an intricate role, but he just played his role. He has gone unsung for the past two years and, I elated for he acknowledgements this year. I really appreciate Jamie's game because he has played with the same energy that he's played with all his years; high speed! In a day and time when the high school "superstar" doesn't play with the same intensity that got them there, he does just that. Demonte is truly potential waiting to happen, but I hope that he doesn't wait too long. He has a good stoke and intensitiy when he wants to. I definitely don't want to devalue his worth, because he's a difference maker when he wants to be or when we notice him. One thing that I can say is that I know that Whites Creek will show up to play. I haven't had the opportunity of seeing Antioch this year, but in years past one never knew what team was going to show. For the sake of a good basketball game, tourney and Middle TN basketball, I hope that they show up and put on a good showing. Happy Holidays to all!
  7. Della (the oldest Harrison) will be going into her senior year.
  8. Della (the oldest Harrison) will be going into her senior year.
  9. It wasn't a tandem, trio, but a quartet (there was really five one year,'92) The FOUR HORSEMAN at Stratford '92, '93, '94. Each one rushed for a grand each! Arcentae Broome, Michael Coleman, Richard Bryant ('92), Erik Gardner, Greg Young. Running Back High!
  10. I think that it's 1. Antioch 1. Pearl-Cohn 2. Maplewood 3. Hunters Lane 4. McGavock 5. Glencliff 6. Whites Creek 7. Stratford
  11. Givbakr2, why do you seem to show up in all the good postings? Brittney has not transferred to the school south of Old Hickory Blvd. She's attending MLK right now. She's thinking of transferring, and it might be surprising to many of who the front runner is to receive her scholastic and athletic abilities. Are you going to believe me on this one, unlike the Whites Creek and Stratford post? )

    Hunters Lane

givbakr2, mark my words come next year. I wish that I could meet you just so you could say 'you called it' come next year for Whites Creek at least. They won't be cellar dwellers come next year if they get the girls due them. I'm a graduate of Stratford, so I'm going to be bias of course. I still have faith in the Spartans. I, too, pick them(H.L.) behind Pearl, Antioch, and Maplewood. Is the game still on for tonight?
  13. Chris played for B.A. last year also. Therefore, you're probably speaking of Pat Slay. He's between Ron and Chris, as far as age.

    Hunters Lane

I'm not creating expectations at all. I'm speaking facts about the cohesiveness of "a" team. I emphasis "a" so that salty or anyone else won't misconceive my notion. People CONSTANTLY equate a good person as a good coach or good teams having good coaches. This is the time to show how good of a coach she is. I truly believe that she has the potential to be an excellent coach. I hope that she pulls them together. I believe that the coaches of Whites Creek and Stratford are doing a good jobs, excusing their records. They are supplying hope and a future for those teams. I really believe that these teams are going to be top teams in metro for the next two or three years, because I've noticed there development over the year.
  15. I've seen Hunter Lane perform the las t couple of weeks and it seems to me that something is just not right. I witnessed the game last night and still the same. It seems to me that there is some dissention among the ranks. The ladies are seeming to play for self and it's not working. Tribue has to do something to get the girls on the same accord quick or it's going to be a long, well, a rather quick tourney.
