  2. Did Bradley play for the championship? I heard they were playing Sunday. How did they do? Was Buckalew the best player there?
  3. Holly is maybe the best player in the Chattanooga area but there seem to be some skepticism because of her stats. If you look at the Raider's team you will see that she has to shoot for them to win. Well, PG, not a scoring threat at all. Radar, simply playing for defense alone. Brett, she will have her days to score bbut won't be consistent. The only other person to look to to score will be Burnett at the post. With the loss of CHS's last years top scorer, Tiffany Buckalew, Holly is asked to carry the team on her shoulders. She will average 20 plus a game. Holly is a tremendous player and is exciting to watch
  4. Most definittely Hare and Pickel from Bradley Central
  5. Have to go with CoachSH. Pickel is the best PG in this area but I haven't seen all the state. He penetrates and he shoots and he plays defense as well. Hare is the other awesome PG. He is a different type of point than most. He is so strong that he can drive it to the bucket. He is a scoring PG from the paint and Pickel is more of a outside threat at the PG. Yes, Hare and Pickel. The best 1-2 and 2-1 combination in the area.
  6. Bradley's Pugh may be the best defender I have seen. Pickel is the best anticpator on defense in the district and then you got Hare that is so strong it is tough for somebody to play against those three.
  7. Bradley Central has to need their seniors the most because that is all they have. I was looking at their roster and they have 7 seniors on the team. Two of them are all-state players so I guess I would have to say that they will rely on their seniors the most. Smith at McMinn is a great player but if he played for a team like Bradley or Cleveland he would not put up the stats that he does. When you have 4-5 players who all average double figures no one person willaverage 25-30 a game. But then again, that is probably why Smith stayed at McMinn instead of going to Cleveland.
  8. Just curious as to what state tournament Steve Moore won? Not debating your word buddy, just wondering. Because I know it was not in Tennesee, because he has never taken a team to the state in Tennessee. But maybe he did coach a state champ in another state.
  9. Way to go Buckalew! This is the first time I have been on here in ages and Ididn't have a clue you had signed. Haven't seen it in paper! Has it been in there yet? I enjoyed watching you play at Cleveland the past couple of years and was tickled to death that you made the change. You should grow as a player this year with Jack. Look forward to keeping up with you next year but as for the present, go out there and help those Bears kick some butt.
  10. TNDude you are getting a bit touchy. I read what was wrote and it doesn't look like a slam on the Mustang program in anything there. If the Mustangs do not win the district this year then you accomlished nothing more than the previous coach did. I think you all were runner up last year and the year before. So before you start singing your praises you should improve on your last years end. Get out of your region and then start bragging. I think keyplayer meant that you all get the players you need to compete in your district. I think there are several at your school that are there because they could not play at Cleveland, Bradley or McMinn. And that is not a cutdown statement. I think that it is great that there is another school in Bradley County that students can get the opportunity to play. By no means is that a critical statement. I also can foresee in a few years, Walker Valley moving up and playing the same level as the above teams. I haven't seen anything on these boards by anyone cutting your program down. You all seem to be the ones taking things so personal. Back up your statements with actions. I think that if you all can beat the Clevelands, McMinns and Bradleys that you play then you will earn everyone's respect. As for your coach, I hear that he is a great coach. But from what I hear, so was the one before him. If he can beat these teams this year then I think he will gain everyone's respect in the area. Good luck to your teams, boys and girls, as you embark upon your season. But remember this advice, actions speak louder than words. Especially on a sound-off message board like this.
  11. How possible is it that two players from the same team are nominated for Mr. Basketball? I think that Shawn Williams is head and shoulders/hands down the best player in the state of Tennessee in AAA. He will most likely be Mr. Basketball. I have watched games and games the past several years and seen West, East and Middle Tennessee all. I think that it is very possible that both Hare and Pickel are nominated for this award. I don't see how voters could choose one of them and not the other. Hare may have the edge if only one makes it due to the fact that his brother is a former winner of the award. If the award is based on this years play then by all means none of us should be predicting at this point. Lets wait and see what players lead their teams to the state.
  12. Ryan Moore, McCallie; Lavonte Barber, Cleveland; Kellen Pickel, Bradley These are three outstanding athletes in the area who excel at more than one sport. All three are D1 in at least one sport. I know there are some others. Who are some other good football players that excel in baseball, wrestling, or basketball? Does playing two sports make them better or worse at the sports? Are the players who specialize at one sport the ones with the advantage? Remember Adarius Bowman? One of the best all-around athletes from Chattanooga. He played THREE sports.
  13. Congrats and good luck to Holly and Crista... It looks like you two are main players on the Stars. Cleveland is proud of you.
  14. How is Bradley Central looking under the new head coach? I hear that they may actually be competitive in there region this year. Is that true? How about Cleveland? Rumors have it that they may have lost a couple of key players due to some trouble? Walker Valley probably will still win a couple of games to get them into post season play.
  15. Walker Valley is a legit AA team. I think they will make it to the state. Are they good enough to play AAA? Who cares? Nobody will ever know. It really doesn't matter, since they are AA. They are working to get to the AA state not AAA. Maybe there will be three teams from here in the state. Never know!
  16. looks like a repeat of the district and region finals back in March on the basketball court. I am afraid the outcome might be a little different though. Congratulations to the Bears for a big big win over a good Chattanooga Central team last night. I wish I could have seen it but I did see the Cleveland win and that was a great win too. Cleveland had a great crowd on hand last night. A special congratulations to Tyler Westmoreland. It must feel great to make it to a substate game. You have worked hard to get here. Probably the best catcher around the area. Congratulations to Kellen Pickel for possibly making it to the state twice in a year. Who will win the region rivalry. My guess is that CHS will come out on top. There hitting and pitching is too much for the Bears. Kock and Carver are two of the very best pitchers around and both are just juniors. I am proud of what the Bears have accomplished this year. Greg Garren and staff have done a tremendous job with this young team. I don't think anybody expected them to be there this year. Bradley County can be proud to have two teams in the AAA substate tournament. Good luck guys, go all the way to Memphis.
  17. Who are the all distict players?
  18. Who made all district?
  19. Harlow will take care of the chemistry I'm sure. If some of the girls aren't happy with PT, then I guess they can just quit. That is what they usually do. Quit when they are not happy. I have to agree with 23's mom. Those five are terrific ballplayers and then you throw in strength by having Jackson, Cassada, Suiter and Dalton. (I don't know muck about Jolley so I can't say) Theres alot of things he can do with players like that. Jackson against the zone, Dalton when Pickel gets in foul troule, Suiter and Cassada inside to rebound against the bigger girls. I agree with 23's mom. Buckalew will add and make this team stronger. The times I watched Bradley this year, looked like they were missing that scoring threat. Well, Buckalew can do it. And I certainly would not count Jackson out of the starting five. That maybe where I disagree with 23s mom. I have seen her completely carry the Bears offensively. I would say that she and Barton will be fighting it out for that position. Time can change alot of things. There may even be some more transfers in the making. [Edited by nick32 on 5-2-03 8:53A]
  20. McMinn Central may win it all next year. They were talented this year and it really doesn't drop off next year.
  21. Cleveland High has a nice field.
  22. Ryan Moore from McCallie has to be the top prospect. Ryan Wilkes, Chatt Central and Kellen Pickel, Bradley High are tops at the SS position. Blake Carver, if he gets healthy, and Jon Koch both pitchers for Cleveland are looking very tough. Dusty Murray, a Walker Valley Senior is still unsigned and will make a good pitcher for some college. Antonio Westfield is a definite prospect for his hitting and Tyler Westmoreland too.
  23. Tiffiny will be welcomed with open arms at either Walker Valley or Bradley. Both programs need her and both want her. Jack Harlow can make her the best that she can be but I don't know if she can handle him or not. I don't know her so I shouldn't say either way. I know she is a good guard. Put her with Crowe, Pickel, Reynolds and Jackson and lookout District 5AAA. Look at the height and athleticism on that team. Put her with Cox, Morris, Butler and whoever else steps in there and lookout District 5AA. I would have to admit that she probably would standout as a scorer more at Walker Valley because Bradley has alot of scorers. She seems to be a pretty good girl, maybe a bit cocky but most good players are. Anybody know when she will make her decision? Has her family moved yet and where?
  24. Bradley and Cleveland should be tops in the Chattanooga area. Hare, Pickel, Little and Cooper should be the top players. Bradley may just be the tops in the state.
  25. Just curious if you think that ALL the coaches at Walker Valley should be forced to leave for not having a winning record or is it just one particular one. Maybe Coach Lewis should schedule a weaker schedule next season so he could have a winning record since that is all you seemed concerned about. Not that I really care what happens either way I just think it is pretty funny that you are so down on him. Is it just that you want one to take his place. Well the logical one is Elrod and if Lewis leaves and Elrod does not get a shot at the job then that is low-life. And how ridiculous is it to say to let the boys pick at coach. You are referring to 16-17 year old boys picking a basketball coach??? Why not let the students pick their own teachers too. If one is too hard on them then let them get rid of that teacher and hire one to the students liking? I think you are just somebody wanting to start something or you are somebody whose kid didn't play enough.
