  1. Why would anybody complain about having to many football games? That is crazy. The football playoff system is fine right now. There were so many upsets in week 1 of the playoffs why would anyone want to change it. It just doesn't make sense to me.

i agree... more football the better...it gives a 4 seed a chance to win it all, instead of having a pointless bowl game that pretty much just tells your team u failed...

    ...

GAME OFFICIALS SHOULD DEF. COME OUTSIDE THE REGION!!!

  2. 1. It is not Mt. Pleasant's fault they're in a weak region, however, they are.

    2. Given a choice between Daily and Skogen, I take Dailey 7 days a week and twice on Sunday, no disrespect to Skogen.

    3. In light of the recent stats posted on this thread, I think we can all agree that the best thing to do is call Troy Flemming and mail him the trophy :thumb::ph34r:

  3. I dont recall anyone calling Collinwood a "Creme Puff" this year, or any year for that matter. Any team that has ever played us know were not a team you really want to schedule for Homecoming. :thumb:

Go back and read the FC-Collinwood thread. Go read some of the Region 6 threads. There were some who didn't think too much of Collinwood early on, and especially thought their defense was overrated. But now it turns out they are not overrated and are a good team. Although they're going to get beat this week :thumb:

  4. try being a football fan in Linden, Perry county is all about the basketball.

middle school started in October. i went to ms basketball game on monday and then went to collinwood to watch our pretty good ms team get domolished by the trojans. then the same thing happened the next two weeks they even had a game during the bowl game championship week!!!!

most highschool basketball players dont play football. i can think of one and he probably wont start basketball.

here is another thing that no other school can say.... :thumb:

our basketball team has more paid coaches than the football team.

i wonder who the stepson is in Linden? :thumb:

Probably the team who doesn't have multiple state titles :thumb:

  5. When you play at the level Jo Byrns plays, teams seem like creme puffs but actually they aren't.

I agree. As an example, when FC played Collinwood early on in the year, they got some grief for a "creme puff" game, but now it turns out that Collinwood isn't a bad team. And the most overrated team in 1-A this year has to be SP. Defender says Slick Rick is a fence-jumper with good timing.

  6. Leave it like it is. There's no perfect way to do it. The basketball players who play football just have to go from football to basketball the day after their season ends, whenever that is. A little rest would be nice, but it's just not possible. And it comes with playing multiple sports. It's a nice, fair starting point where it is. And pffan, you're right. This hurts basketball, not football. I know of no football players who practice basketball until football is over, and rightfully so. They're at the end of the season, and need to finish it out. I don't think they should do away with AAU. It's an awesome thing that 90% of the guys who do it enjoy. They like doing it. It's not a "burden". Yes, sometimes it's not fun (just like any other sport), but by and large, they enjoy it. And moving basketball back any further than November 1 (meaning starting sooner than that) would not be fair to the football players who play basketball. It would just leave them too far behind. And that wouldn't be fair to them. Moving it forward from November 1 (meaning starting it later) wouldn't be fair to the basketball team. It would cripple them, if it doesn't already, especially if their football team goes a ways into the playoffs. Leave it like it is. :thumb:

  7. 1. T$$AA

    2. T$$AA

    3. T$$AA

    4. Students should get in free at their home field, and should pay at away games, playoffs included. Non-students of the home school (with the exception of infants) should pay at all games, playoffs included.

    5. $7 is too much, even for a playoff game, try $5, playoff or not :thumb:

    6. Just my opinion, easy for me to say, I don't make the budget ;)

  8. Keep the playoff system like it is, no computers. Play the first round game at the top seed's home field (unless of course they choose to play somewhere else and can make adequate arrangements to do so). But whoever brought up Riverdale the past few years had a good point. I'm not sure what the answer is after the first couple of rounds.......maybe a computer then, but surely there's a better way. Overall record is also flawed, 'cause we all know every team's strength of schedule factors into that. But I think the system now is good, if not very good. Heck of a lot better than the BCS!

  9. What makes TC so good?.....Mmmmmm, ya know, it really is hard to put your finger on it. They are well coached, and that's a gross understatement. They've got good players who know the game and are smart. They have much strength. But regardless of how their regular season goes, they always seem to step it up come playoff time. They always play hard. If you don't they will embarrass you thoroughly. I expect a close game in this one, but I think the loss of Wright will be too much for TC. Temple is tough.

    TT-28

    TC-17

And by the way, is TT's coach Seth's daddy? Uncle? I'm sure they're related somehow???

  10. oh, and what's enfuego supposed to mean?

That's "on fire" in Spanish there......

And I agree about the GV-SP thread; nothing but fun. I would NOT by any stretch consider FC the underdog. I expect a close game, no blowouts, no upsets. I'll not be surprised no matter who wins, and I will be surprised if it's a blowout. And JB is #1, not FC......just for the record:) And I'll also take this chance to say that although the AP poll isn't perfect, it is a good thing, I like it, heck, I think most everybody likes it. It really doesn't mean anything when you get down to the nitty-gritty of it, but it gives the players something to shoot for. And it makes for good conversation :thumb:

  11. I'll take FC's Offensive playmakers over anyone in 1A.

    Rickaway

    Alsup

    Markham

    Miller

    Teeter

    Preston

    McKnight

    Searcy

    Doak

Speed kills but strength and speed will endure now that the real season has begun.

This team can throw it from the play-action, run it at you, spread you out and run it, run it outside with speed or give you the misdirection if you try to key on any one player.

The scary thing is this bunch hasn't hit full stride yet!!

Better hope they don't against your team!

I agree, FC's backfield is excellent, and Rickaway is one of the best runningbacks in the state, but they can't run inbetween the tackles. And I know it's about impossible to not have a weakness, but if they have one, that's their's. They've got speed to get outside, and guys willing to block, but they can't run effectively inbetween the tackles. It would serve somebody well (cough, hint, GORDONSVILLE) to remember that in the playoffs:)
