  1. I've followed this situation for quite some time. The bottom line is much is the East Hickman community believes that if they can somehow, someway get Coach Jones ran off, then Coach Harris will swoop in, become the high school coach, and save the day. Their kids will return to the glory days of winning championships at EHMS. A couple of problems with this train of thought: First, Harris will NEVER be hired as the high school head coach because he does not have a college degree and is not a certified teacher, nor has he been a high school assistant for the required number of years. So you folks holding your breath for that to happen, Forget It! Second, the high school is now playing in a district comprised of teams like Houston Co and White Bluff, not to mention the non-conference games like McEwen and Hillsboro that EHMS always plays. It's a different ballgame playing in a district with teams like Giles, Marshall, Page, Spring Hill, etc. So people expecting middle school success to directly translate into high school success is way off as well. Maybe Coach Jones has gone overboard on some things, I don't know enough details about that to comment. But I do know much of Coach Jones' lynch mob wants him out so they can get Harris in...and that isn't happening.
  2. Marshall County will once again be the team to beat. But keep an eye on the Lady Dawgs from Hickman County. This team started slow a year ago but came together down the stretch to make a deep playoff run. Coach Barrett runs a great program and now that the girls have played together under him for a full season, it should start to pay dividends. The lack of a true physical post presence could be a weak spot, but the frontcourt should be really strong. Look for them to "fundamental" you to death for 4 periods each game.
  3. Ronnie Carter..... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  4. Go get 'em Eagles! There's definitely no pressure on you guys tonight. Just relax and go play. Good luck from the HC side of the county /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  5. You seem like such an intellectual giant, your information and stats are no doubt the truth /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I've never even heard of such rediculous accusations as that, much less read about it. And that's not something you would see published in the Tennessean. I'm sure HCMS has more drug infractions than the metro schools. Have a clue.I doubt you can even read the Tennessean. Since most newspapers are written on a 5th grade reading level, we know that newspapers are way out of your league.
  6. Speaking of drugs and crime...ever read the Sheriff's report in the HC Times? Try reading it each week and seeing where all of the drugs and crimes are happening in Hickman County. Better check your facts before making statements like that. I feel sorry for all the good folks in East that are poorly represented by this idiot.
  7. All I'm saying is what goes around comes around. I remember an EHMS girls basketball coach that once ran the score up on HCMS, then the next year got his tail kicked by about 30. Sports talent runs in cycles. Most public schools can't be on top all of the time, so why rub someone's nose in the ground? Chances are eventually it will come back to bite you. And you probably don't believe this, but many folks in Centerville try to keep up with East and pull for them when they're not playing the Dawgs, myself included. It's idiots like you making comments like "now they know their place in the county" that makes it hard for Bulldog fans to support your school. And if indeed the Centerville players were running their mouths, it should have been addressed differently than stooping to that level. The East coaches had a chance to be the bigger men, and handle the situation with class, but they failed to do so. If Centerville was being the classless team, and they may very well have been, East stooped right down to their level by running the score up.
  8. Glad that those Centerville kids "know their place place in the county for the rest of their school days." I believe if you check your records, East Middle has had much football success over Centerville recently, but top to bottom considering ALL sports, Hickman Middle has held their own with the eagles. And I'm glad you know Centerville like you do. I believe that Coach Swenson called the dogs off last year when he could have beaten your high school by 100 if he wanted to, and this is how you repay us. Coach P was in the stands last week and I hope he has a good memory in a couple of weeks. And better get more than 25-30 kids out for football if you plan on those Centerville kids "knowing their place" for years to come. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  9. Wrong, it was still the varsity in the game for the last TD. I know all of those kids. And if the players were smack talking, well, they are middle school kids. I would hope the coaching staff is more mature than to resort to those kind of tactics. Play hard and beat them on the scoreboard, but don't resort to cheap play to tarnish a good performance by your team. And don't assume for a minute that middle school success always translates to high school success. Too many variables. Kids quitting, kids failing, kids getting jobs, etc. It will all have to play out before we really know how Hickman and East will be after this year.
  10. I hope the Eagles get their first win this Friday, but win or lose, one thing for certain is that Coach Jones and his program will show more class than their middle school. I try to pull for the Eagles as long as they're not playing HC, but after watching EHMS run the score up on HCMS with less than two minutes to go and a 43-14 lead, it's becoming harder to do. Running a trick play and throwing a long touchdown pass late in the game when all you have to do is take a knee makes your whole program look back, not just your school. Kudos to Coach Jones, regardless of record, for showing his players how to play the game with class. And shame on you Coach Harris for ruining a stellar performance by your team by resorting to a bush league play like that to end the game.
  11. Since you are obviously an idiot with an extremely low IQ and reasoning ability, let me explain this as simply as I can. Follow along the words with your finger if it helps you read. Playing high school sports is a PRIVILEDGE, not a right. You and your child play by whatever rules the coach, AD, and school administration establish, or else you can go to the house. They do not owe you anything. If Coach Patterson and Coach Smithson don't want parents on the field after the game, then parents are not allowed on the field after the game. End of discussion. Some twisted parents like yourself seem to thing high school sports are a democracy where everyone should have an equal say and vote in all matters pertaining to the team. Sorry to bust your bubble, but that's not how it works in an athletic program that is any good at all. So instead of belly aching about how you've been disrespected or unfairly left out of the loop, try paying your $5 for admission and watching the game from the stands like everyone else. When the game is over, either wait in the stands or in the parking lot to speak to the players. Or if you don't like these established rules, take your kid and go home. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  12. Agreed. You don't coach sports, especially in Hickman County, to get rich. And our facilities at HCHS are top notch because of Coach Smithson and his years of hard work. He does a good job of running the athletic program and supporting the coaches. Fans should also appreciate the fact that their team will always be playing on a great playing surface on game day each week. The same can not be said at every high school we play against. Take a look around at some opposing athletic facilities throughout the year, be it football, baseball, softball, basketball. A "Thank You" would be more appropriate instead of criticism. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  13. Seriously doubt he's teaching anywhere right now. Maybe serving as a non-faculty assistant coach /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> somewhere. It looks pretty bad on you as a coach when your high school players have to go practice with the middle school to learn anything, and that's what was happening last year at East. Good luck to the boys this year. Coach Britt will do a fantastic job.
